I'm gonna say it again. Just make a game like BF4 with current gen visuals. No bullshit trailers either, just straight up actual gameplay like this:
I want lots of tanks, APCs, helicopters, jets, etc... Full chaotic combat with full on destruction and levolutions.
Oh and no" Operators" or any bullshit like that, keep mtx to cosmetics only and nothing too ridiculous or out of place.

I have a friend that wanted to play it and I expected more from the Portal. BF launching crappy is kind of a given, but I thought it would eventually turn around and have great user created custom games in the Portal.

Not a bad idea. I remember dabbling with MoH demo on 360 and the AK47s had laser accuracy. Racked up kills from good range with this gun.

Actually, Squad doesn't show your kills or deaths until a match is over and it plays great (Squad is the successor to the Project Reality mod for BF2). Maybe they wanted people to focus on more than K/D? They could have done something with that.

This does NOT surprise me. I've been a fan since 1943 but really got into it since Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3/4. Most of the DICE Senior Leadership have jumped ship and moved on to different studios or formed their own; in particular the upcoming FTP game Arc Raiders (published by Nexon but developed by former DICE members now called Embark Studios).
It's a shame EA/DICE couldn't salvage this game at all. They had a great formula and just had to stick to the script. Instead, we got sold a game that's not even worthy of being a drink coaster.

On a serious note, they should just go free to play. They'd probably pick up a few thousand more regular players - the same crowd that surfs from free to play game to free to play game. People can excuse a lack of content and crummy specialist-driven gameplay if they don't have to pay for it and you let them dress up their characters in stupid hats and shit for $1.50 a pop.

I called it when the 2042 beta came out. We have another BFV on our hands.
Speaking on his premium Giant Bomb show Grubbsnax (transcribed by VGC), journalist Jeff Grubb said EA is attempting to fulfil the game’s promised DLC using as few resources as possible so that it can focus on the next Battlefield game.
EA has committed to releasing four seasons of live service content for Battlefield 2042 over the course of a year.
He then said the reason for this is that EA is currently in pre-production for the next Battlefield game.

What exactly don't people like about the game at this point? It's as if it became cool to hate it and everybody jumped on the bandwagon.
I personally had a lot of fun with it at launch. It needed some things that were quickly fixed, but I don't think deserved all of the backlash.
I REALLY hope they don't go back to an older era because of this. We finally got Battlefield in a modern setting and it has gone to waste.

I reinstalled it to check out season one and also to check the state of the game - conquest mode (128 people), main queue, PC. The first match was hovering around 50 actual human beings, and all anyone wanted to discuss was how season one is just one new map, one new characters, and two guns.
So far it seems like since I stopped playing all they've done is tweak things slightly, and nerfed the one submachine I was using to snipe people from like 100 yards away with lol. It's absolute garbage now. Also, Sundance's anti vehicle grenades take so long to lockon they're not very useful, but at least they actually track vehicles now and don't fly off into the cold blue sky 50% of the time.

Somebody needs to step in and get Squad and WW3 on consoles. Battlefield is toxic.
That was changed a long time ago now. You can view the scoreboard and see all your stats, ribbon progression etc during the rounds.
I shelved the game for many months but have started playing it again recently and they've actually made a few improvements. Despite the terrible launch I'm enjoying it more than Vanguard. They really need to knock the next one out of the park though.

I also doubt this rumor as it sounds too weird. Put out free DLC, go to skeleton crew and shit, put out 3 more seasons this year? I'd believe it if it just said no seasons would come out after this or something, but I have a hard time believing the team that is taking this long to redesign those maps with a skeleton crew will put out 3 more seasons..THIS YEAR, that sounds just too unlikely and makes this sound more fake then anything rumored thus far lol

I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I'd also buy a remastered BC2 that has the player movement from BFV. I'd certainly consider those more than I will whatever drivel they are planning to put out next.

I legit don't even know if that would change any of this. The fact that they have BF3 in portal and that didn't really change much, makes me doubt that BF3 and BF4 put in 4K 60fps would matter as much as many of us think.
I mean...shit I'd buy it day 1 with you, but I don't know how much others really care about this games. So don't retire from gaming on this lol Even that COD4 remake didn't do massive numbers compared to that year's current COD, so what hope would BF3 or BF4 really have? So knows if we get some remake or remaster of those games outside of portal, but if we do I don't have any belief they would sell like hotcakes even if they came out perfect with zero issue.
Though I wish we got new maps sooner, if it was based on that past design, I'd rather wait those months to get a good map vs a rushed map. So never mind waiting 7 months, BF2042 shouldn't have even been released in 2021 in the first place if so much shit needs to be redesigned, fixed, done over, corrected etc. At the state of this game currently, I'd rather not have them rush out content if its just going to be buggy and bad.

Between this, CP2077 and Vangard to an extent hopefully shareholders are begging for delays to these companies biggest releases if they are not ready. The hit to the share price over time because of this shambles must be bigger than a cheeky 6-12 month delay surely.
They have to start from scratch again, rather than a quality battlefield coming this fall. Got to hurt the bottom line.

Once you build up a strong user base, diversify from there. When the base is too low, too many modes dilutes it further.
