thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
Battlefield is the most accomplished “large” FPS game series of all time, the time could not be more right for a new battlefield game.

I still remember watching Pictures of the First Battlefield 1942 in magazines and looking forward to it. I barely played future BF games though.

Because they didnt play BF3 or BF4.
And/or it was their first Battlefield and think Rush on small play areas is what makes Battlefield great.
Hardline is their second favorite BF game.

<---Actually loved Hardline
I played all of those and I think BC2 is much more fun to play than the 3 or 4. The only thing that would have made BC2 better was allowing more players in some of the larger maps but other than that I had so much more fun playing that than any other battlefield game since.

They've toned down the destruction so much it's hardly part of the game anymore, you can knock out some walls here and there and they have a large set piece that'll come down at some point but being able to destroy everything on the map just makes the whole thing more interesting IMO.

This combined with smaller play area is why i cant get behind BC2 being top tier BF above 3 and 4.
Match starts: Everyone destroys everything
We are now playing on a soccer field.

BF3 α and β and endgame were a good balance of destruction, vehicle combat and infantry.
BC2 was an infantry shooter where your soldier could get stuck on an ankle high rock.

Still remember the caspian trailer for BF3 vividly. The hype surrounding the game was out of this world. People even loved the total clusterfuck that was rush on metro even after beta they were still playing metro. Couldn't believe Dice hadn't abandoned ww settings after BF1, my disappointment was immeasurable. Heres hoping BF6 gets back to BF3 glory days.

They should have fixed the having to jump over something a foot tall I agree, anything too short to use as cover should just be stepped over automatically. That being said the leveling the map was part of the fun, it took cover away from snipers, the splash damage on the tank shots was perfect, the big maps had plenty of vehicles etc. Even if they don't continue that series I'd love a full remake with new gen graphics and 60fps gameplay. It was far more fun than any BF game I have played since. I know some want a game to be some kind of "simulation" but I find running along a hillside just to get sniped over and over kind of boring. They've just cut back too much on what makes BF fun IMO and they need to rethink that.

i played so much BF2: Modern Combat on PS2. I would just throw a bunch of C-4 on my jeep. And crash into one of the doorways of the 2 buildings in the middle of Backstab

I actually really miss the console-style play of BF2MC on PS2/Xbox/360. It was an innovative approach to large-scale battle combat. You could swap bodies to different characters, letting you command the battlefield while also being in boots on the ground. You could jump yourself into a hotspot to help take out threats to your mission, switch up to a character up ahead to get set up in the best vantage point, or fall back to fortify critical ground if your point commando is about to be overrun. You could also take up a body equipped of whatever weapon you were feeling most like unloading with, or jump into somebody near a vehicle if one became available and take off. Instead of feeling like a lone soldier out to win the war with his one gun and however long your lifebar lasted until you have to respawn, you really got the feeling of the value of every soldier on the map. I felt it was a promising mix of strategy and action that could have been perfected in later games, and although I ultimately think the mainline Battlefield games are the heart of the series, it's a bit of a bummer that DICE abandoned both MC and Bad Company as spin-off concepts.

(Also, no game really cloned the BF MC-console hotswap in a large-scale battle game, and few do character swapping overall, which is surprising and disappointing. It's just fun to slam into another character's head and there you are.)

I somehow totally forgot about that swapping thing. That premise would be so cool if used properly for other games.

Battlefield 2 Modern Combat's MP was pretty great console online shooter for that time.

My favorite Battlefield is BF3 on PC and after that comes BF4, which I played a lot with my friends in the early days of PS4.

Why people say that Battlefield bad company 2 is the Best Battlefield game?
It all comes down to a he controls. How it feels to move. The responsiveness of guns and the tactile feeling of getting hits on enemies. Every game since has lost that feeling and feels more like a chore to play.

Played both extensively. You are full of shit.

I had no idea Battlefield 2 was even on PS2. I played the absolute shit out of that game on PC. Even all the expansions were fantastic for it. Legitimately the last time I loved a BF game.

Console Battlefield 2 was a very different game. The maps are not the same and probably aren't even based on existing PC maps (I don't remember the names being similar? but it's been a while,) there is no Commander feature, I believe not all the Classes are in (I don't recall there being a Medic?,) the Modes are sort of different, player count is a lot less, and there is a legit Single Player Campaign.

Different, but still a cool experience IMO. Especially as a single-player experience, and back when I mostly gamed on console (my internet at home sucked and only my work computer could really run hefty PC games,) I really loved the console Battlefield 2 game. Hot-swapping was always fun as hell, you could come up with some crazy tactics by jumping around to weird places. Combat was real fast and hectic since you bounced around a lot instead of dying and respawning way back at checkpoints. Single-player was essentially rounds of MP with bots, but it did have a bit of story and it did have enemies deployment designed around events via Mission Objectives (I think there like escort-type sections or storm-the-gates or defend-the-tower challenges, several different Objectives per stage that would change how you had to play the rest of the level or ration your manpower of Tickets. Also, I believe Missions switch from "good" guys to "bad" guys, which gave you a chance to play levels kind of in reverse but also had this weird thing of switching around what army you played for.) Came out on PS2/Xbox, then an upgraded version came out on 360 that added new graphic effects like grass and reflections, plus 3 bonus maps (and a PSP BF2:MC game was planned but never happened, was never sure if it was going to be a port or a side-game?)

I always just called the console game "Battlefield: Modern Combat" and the PC game Battlefield 2 (although I guess technically the PC game also had "Modern Combat" somewhere as a subtitle.)

Consoles killed battlefield.

Battlefield was always about big large scale warfare with cars and planes u could pick up with boats and even flight deck boats u could control without limitations.

Its much like counterstrike a PC game by nature but moved to console gaming become more and more limited in what it did and ended up being generic trash that ditched all it stood for until the eventual they trying to push wokeness to kill of there community even faster and shit on the few players they had.

Honestly at this point battlefield is nothing more then a shadow of its former self.

Because they didnt play BF3 or BF4.

They did, and it didn't take more than 10min. to notice that all of the amazing destruction BC1/2 had is now completely gone. This is what made BC series so awesome and stand out of the crowd where every other shooter on the market had static maps, and they all pretty much still do, it brought both tactical and fun factors up to 11. Not to mention that it was waaay more action packed than any BF later on with just 24 player count, being bigger just for the sake of being bigger but more boring instead is nothing good in my books (Metro was tense as fuck tho, but that was exception from the rule). Not to mention the number of vehicles on the maps was most of the time lower, which by itself wasn't a step in the right direction to begin with, but combined with larger maps and more players it took away what separated the franchise from other shooters, as it was most of the time just an ordinary infantry combat with too much walking around/running from A to B instead of actually fighting other players, there just wasn't enough vehicles for all the players to travel across those large maps, and that's a trend that continues to this day, so no wonder the series are in a serious fallback, as in terms of pure infantry run&gun gameplay there are many franchises that simply do it much better, no one wants to walk around those huge, 100 milion miles square maps on feet, people play online shooters to shoot with others, and that's why BF fails hard with it's focus of being bigger and bigger just for the sake of it.

Why people say that Battlefield bad company 2 is the Best Battlefield game?

For me personally theres a number of reasons..Was it perfect? no. Do I also love BF3, BF4, and BF1..yes But for me BC2 is one of the top BFs made.

I think the biggest item for me is the reduced number of players per match. Yea I was a PC player that was disappointed not seeing the same scale as I had seen in 1942 or the other games...but looking back and replay a lot of them I see the reduced numbers made the individual player matter more. You still had the feeling of a large-scale battle..more so than COD or any of the other shooters..but you also felt that your squad was the "A Team" in the whole fight. Your squad was the reason you were pushing to the next objective or holding down a flag.

I also feel Rush was at its finest here. Don't get me wrong. A lot of great maps were in BF3..but Rush in BC2 was really well done (minus a few exploits).

Another thing was the animations and sound design. I can't tell you how many times me and my friends were shocked or excited when a Blackhawk took a rocket and began spinning out of control and crashed near someone. Or when a humvee rolling down the highway took a rocket to the front and front flipped over end over end. Those were moments that made the game feel like a movie.

There was also something gritty about BC2 in comparison to BF3 and BF4. The art design of that game had a certain feel that for me was only closely replicated in BF1.

I think the last thing I cite would be, for at least me, it introduced a lot of my friends to the BF franchise. I had played the previous BF games on PC. I had a lot of friends who were floored such a large-scale game was on a console. I had a friend run out and buy an Xbox just to play the BC2 demo because he was so impressed with it. Did all of these friends make the jump to BF3 and BF4...yea...but we still found ourselves going to BC2 some nights.
