“In the first half of 2019 we have prioritized investments in our key franchises and, beginning in the second half of this year our audiences will have a chance to see and experience the initial results of these efforts.”

Across Call of Duty®, Candy Crush™, Warcraft®, Hearthstone®, Overwatch®, and Diablo®, we are expanding our development teams so that we can accelerate the delivery of content in our pipeline, pursue new business models, broaden our communities, and delight our players.

  • Activision Blizzard had 327 million Monthly Active Users (MAUs)C in the quarter.
  • King had 258 million MAUsC. Candy Crush franchise MAUsC grew year-over-year, driven by growth in Candy Crush Saga™ and the addition of Candy Crush Friends Saga™.
  • Total time spent in King’s Candy Crush franchise grew strongly year-over-year.
  • Activision Blizzard delivered approximately $800 million of in-game net bookingsB in the second quarter.
  • King’s Candy Crush was the top-grossing franchise in the U.S. mobile app stores, a lead position it has held for the last two years.
  • Advertising in the King network continued to ramp, with net bookings growing sequentially and doubling year-over-year.
  • Hearthstone net bookings grew sequentially in Q2 following the release of Rise of Shadows and the introduction of the paid single-player Adventure, with the expansion also outperforming last Q4’s Rastakhan’s Rumble™.

  • Activision had 37 million MAUsC. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 MAUsC grew year-over-year versus Call of Duty: WWII, and hours played increased by more than 50%. Crash™ Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled enjoyed positive critical reviews and strong sales, particularly through digital channels.
  • Total hours played inActivision’s Call of Duty franchise rose double-digits year-over-year.
  • Overwatch League™ hours viewed continued to grow robustly year-over-year in the two stages held during the second quarter. Season-to-date, viewership and average minute audience have grown double-digits year-over-year.
  • For Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, net bookings from in-game items grew year-over-year versus Call of Duty:WWII and are ahead of WWII on a comparable life-to-date basis.

Oh joy... Whatever just get a Warcraft or Starcraft rts mobile game out of the way. At least they would make some kind of sense with touch controls.

Like it or not, it makes sense. Nowadays i see myself playing more on mobile during the day (heartstone, sega heroes, fire emblem) and on the pc at night and i am quite interested on that diablo eternal game after hundreds of hours on diablo 3 on console and pc. I know, i know, SHAME. A phone warcraft 1 version could be neat tho.

Any non-stupid studio invests on mobile.

I wouldn't mind a hero collector from Blizzard.

Not true, a lot of mobile games are good.

A lot, as in percentage wise? Because my batting ratio is about 98-99% being money sinks with god awful timers, random loot boxes, and/or a bunch of different currencies. Candy Crush in particular feels like a psychological skinner game made by psychopaths.

if you spend hours and hours researching this stuff, you can get some good pay-once games. But for the average shmoo opening up the gaming part of the app store, it is nothing but playground for San Francisco type Assholes extorting money via psychological levers. & anyone that lets their kids freely play there is doing them damage.

I read somewhere Hearthstone is down over 50% yoy (not surprising when Twitch numbers are significantly down)

Of course we do. Unfortunately, we also have tastes in video games and are smart enough to spot a money-sink scheme a mile away.
Yeah this is it. I recently got a iPhone X. So I tried downloading game after game. What a waste of my limited time. The only time a mobile game is worth it is if I’m trapped with Nothing else to do.

95% of mobile games suck. In most of them if you dont pay you are faced with endless grinding and repetitive tasks.

Lol,

I get this amazing piece of tech for $1000 USD, which is sort of the end product of 100 000 years of human collective intelligence, and it is designed to rip off private and personal data for use by asshole Americans and push games designed to casino me out of money.

I play a healthy mix of mobile games and console/PC. That said, I notice the quality of western ones widely differ from Japanese ones so I don't have much confidence nor interest in trying out any of these IP's on mobile. If it works from a business pov and generates money, then it makes sense. I just hope they're not going to ignore games for home consoles and PC.
