What a pity -- the network that produced two of the greatest TV dramas of all time (The Wire, The Sopranos) and one of the best -- maybe the best -- sketch comedy show of all time (Chappelle Show). How the mighty have fallen....
Buffy is a better drama than both of those.
But indeed how the mighty have fallen, that was a long time ago.

I feel like canceling this App. Not much quality content and I'm watching youtube most of the time anyways. Give us acces to hire fresh movies for a buck or 2 for instance.

Still it has Seinfeld

You know your company is fucked when execs have to tell their employees this.

Whether it's you or any friend or family member you know, how many times have you ever heard of the employer issuing a company memo saying if you dont like it here then leave.

Incredible. The most hard hitting policies and memos I've ever seen against workers involve dress code and carryover vacation.

I'm pretty new to NF. Only been using it for maybe 3-4 years. I split NF with my brother, and he doesn't even ask me for money anymore so I might as well just keep using it.

But got to say the new content is abysmal. And Canada surely gets worse content than the US.

I like documentaries and have fun watching some, so it isn't so bad for me as I can always find some undiscovered gems. But when it comes to seeing what new movies come out using JustWatch, it's junk. Sometimes you just wanna sit back and watch some brainless Arnie movie and NF Canada has hardly any of his old classics.

I'd say (at least for Canadians) if you're a big fan of Korean or Indian content, the service has had tons of this the past few years. But for mainstream Hollywood and US TV studio stuff, it's crap.

Cheaper isn't an opinion. HBO panders more? HBO hasn't produced anything like Cuties as far as I know. Cuties was a front-page thing for me on netflix.

Again with the fucking Cuties movie that you probably haven't even seen, wasn't produced by Netflix but by some French Company, and is a critique on both conservative islam and sexualization of children on social media.

The gaming industry should also resist the call for wokeness it's the blight of the age. Actually there should be a woke simulator or RPG game where the whole world went woke and the main character strives to bring back common sense to the world.
This is actually a really fucking good idea. No seriously, like....now I really wanna play this lol. Let's write it! I wish I could program, but I'm a semi competent writer and my daughter loves pixel art, man I would love to be involved in the creation of a game like that. Sounds genuinely fun and humorous.

When defending Cuties is the hill you die on, I kind of wish the FBI would seize your hard drive. Bound to be some wild works in there by God.

Last desperate gasps of a company that overextended itself financially and sabotaged itself creatively while its competitors did the opposite and flourished. Maybe don't cancel fan favorite shows and fund nonsense that nobody asked for only to cancel it a season or two later.

Buh bye.

What if I told you, that you can do all of that without gratuitous crotch shots with little girls in bootie shorts twerking and dry humping one another.

The filmmakers are definitely creepy fuckers. Like a lot seem to be in the entertainment/film industry.

I share with my pops but he doenst really watch as well anymore. They recently bought like some foreign french and hindi stuff (must have be a cheap package deal) Fine if you're into it but it's just not for me. Most trending "new" movies suck ass. I sometimes turn NF on to take look but always leaves me disappointed lol. Some much content, so much bullshit

The gaming industry should also resist the call for wokeness it's the blight of the age. Actually there should be a woke simulator or RPG game where the whole world went woke and the main character strives to bring back common sense to the world.

It reminds me a bit of an episode of The Orville, which was a lampooning of social media (in this case a very Reddit-esque social app that became a fixture of society and law). What seemingly began with good intentions came to invasively influence how people acted in public, how they dressed, what they created, etc. The result was a society that was completely disingenuous, but in which almost all of the citizens and government felt the need to enforce and maintain due to immense social pressure.

Of course it would be hyperbolic to suggest the same is occurring with game development these days, but there's undeniable similarities.

I hope it's a fad that fades sooner rather than later.

Personally, I thought the subject should have been handled in documentary format. I get that some art is meant to challenge or even shock, but it felt immensely gross to go out and cast little girls then fictionalize the story the way they chose to.

Was supposed to be different?

It's a capitalism rule, and as such, I cancelled my subscription a while ago and I'm happy with Prime Video content

I did not expect to see someone defending 'Cuties' of all things today.

I'm sure that some will call this a stretch, but only someone with a completely porn-addled brain living in a completely porn-addled culture would ever defend such a thing.

We should all seek help that we've allowed culture to deteriorate to this degree.

Reads like a strategic advance to the rear: when their pseudo-pandering attempt wasn't profitable, they've shifted back to what actually works: making things people want to watch, instead of things that just represent a single, specific perspective. It'll be interesting to see how they weather the storm until the first round of projects created under this new guideline actually hits their service. And then, does this guideline actually allow better movies to be made?

Of course, it's really worth noting: they needed to spell this out. Which means, they know they have a contingent of employees who act on the belief that Netflix should only make things that they personally believe. And if Netflix needs an official guideline on this item, it means there's enough of them that it's a problem, which in turn would make it very likely that such individuals would be present at Amazon, HBO, Disney, and Hulu.. So... does this mean media companies actually have been overtaken by people who honestly believe that literally all media their companies produce really should only represent their specific personal beliefs? That feels... kind of not good? Maybe I'm reading too much in to this.

Where have you been for the past 5 years?

You get one of those types in and it spreads like an infection until they are only hiring their own. Companies have just woken up to that fact after having been damaged for the past few years with unpopular output designed by these people as propganda to push their world view has been losing money.

"Antiracist Baby" aimed at pre-schoolers? Hmmmmm, I coulda told them that was a bad idea. Maybe they need to hire more "Common Sense Directors" to balance out the DIE folks.

I'm kinda curious of this content contraction causes them to double down on "the algorithm", or if they will fall back on tried and true content and just nibble at the edges of those shows for SM woke points (like Vikings:Valhalla). They definitely need to relook at those $100,000,000 + development deals they were throwing around at "content creators" with really a very thin track record, like Duvernay or the Obamas. Sure they MIGHT put out big hits, but for that kinda cash they could do a lot more with less famous yet more consistent creators IMHO. Netflix needs to find their Stephen J. Cannell, Aaron Spelling, or Greg Berlanti who can crank out a large volume of productions with a consistent large demographic appeal to anchor their base. Instead they seem to be chasing various 1-10% demos with stuff leaving the 80% out in the cold.

I didn't see cuties but the trailer reminded me of little miss sunshine and that could be cut as a creepy movie as well but it's a criticism of the pagents Americans do.

Like "Toddlers and Tiaras" or whatever it was called? Still sounds too gross to watch.
