Cliffy B new Interview - possible return.

He should have never left Epic Games and stayed there as Gears Consultant or something. Cut the hours a bit.

Dude's 50 now... The drinking is most likely ingrained at this point. I wish him the best but I doubt he'll stay sober for long.

thanks for gears but we good

I didn't know he was an alcoholic, this new information makes me hate the guy at a much deeper level.
I'm more of a fan of PvE these days. Horde mode saved Gears 2, and I believe that space is evergreen because players just want to hop online with friends and shoot some stuff, no frills, no questions asked.
With that kind of market read he has zero chance to succeed at least.

Cliff is retarded but no : props where props are due

Decent video for his career and things he had accomplished.

Kojima encouraged him to chase the own studio and LawBreakers dream which I didn't know.

Kojima also offered him to co-direct Silent Hills in 2013, following Cliff's departure from Epic, out of the then newly-founded Kojima Production LA office. He declined the offer due to not wanting to work in LA.

By the way, the Silent Hills project began life after Guillermo Del Toro approached Konami looking for funding for inSANE, a horror new IP once in development at Volition under the THQ umbrella that saw the rights return to him following the demise of the North American publisher in 2012. Konami wasn't interested in making another horror series but in having him lead the next Silent Hill; thus his partnership with Kojima was born, due to the mutual respect and admiration between the two parties.

"I missed the camaraderie," he said. "I missed going into the studio and talking about what happened on Game of Thrones. I missed the shoulder surfing, making rounds, and looking over a programmer's shoulder at what they were doing. And then going out for dinner and drinks with members of the team."

Dude is in a world of his own. It's extremely common knowledge that 99% of dev teams get barely any free time during the development of a game. There's plenty of stories about people sleeping under their desks and missing important family events.
He's fucking delusional or a flat out liar.

Damn, I didn't know he had alcoholism. As someone who's battled his own share of demons I wish him the best and hope he finds some peace. And if he's down to make his next Gears/Unreal and not another Lawbreakers I'll be there day one.

I don't know, it sounds like a standard Microsoft studio.

Maybe he can ask Epic if they give him the Unreal IP and Cliffy can make a new, proper Unreal game. I would love an Unreal 3.

Maybe he is the right man for the job to get the Gears franchise back on track, after the underwhelming Gears 4 and 5.
Or maybe he'll just screw it up again, like he did with Law Breakers.
I just did a playthrough of both of those games and I still cannot understand what it is y'all did not like about those games. I had a blast and I went in TRYING to find them underwhelming.

I'd welcome a return of Dude huge back into gamedev. Good to hear he recovered from his alcohol problem.

The guy just have to stay focused and deliver what he used to back in the day - masculine rad and edgy action. That wouldn't hurt, since its somewhat absent in the gaming space right now. It could be an opportunity to re-establish himself.

Don't be nervous, its going to be amazing.

The only thing that could stifle it a bit would be lack of multi-player content but I have a feeling they will already have that all taken care of by launch.
I have no evidence they understand the tone. 4 and 5 were aggressively anti-Gears tone

This dude is a joke. Just like all those other washed up game directors he "made" that one game 20 years ago and has been riding that high ever since.

[keep in mind that the success of a game depends on dozens, if not hundreds of talented people]
There is more than 'one' good game here:

I don't know what he would bring to the gaming industry anymore. Thanks for unreal and Gears. But other than that I don't know that I need to hear from him anymore.

I thought he talked about just wanting to be left alone. But maybe he just wants attention on his terms.

"Good luck to anyone in that space," Bleszinski said. "I'm more of a fan of PvE these days. Horde mode saved Gears 2, and I believe that space is evergreen because players just want to hop online with friends and shoot some stuff, no frills, no questions asked.

"I'm nowhere near sharing anything specific (about a new game), beyond that, I can't walk into a Home Depot without seeing a full arsenal at every turn," he said. "There's so much more than just chainsaws."

Seeing people who've retired early made me rethink FI:RE

Shit, give me a couple million and I'll have dividends set up so I can travel the world and live in places and cycle around long as my passports good or max out on my plant garden.

The amount of people who just seemingly give up is shocking to me and explains the amount of lottery winners who end up drug addicts or offing themselves

Eh. Sure, but the gameplay was the same and Marcus was still Marcus.
Correct. And I played through it. I didn't realize how bad it was until I played the Gears 1 remake afterward and was reminded by Gears 2 port over the weekend. If you haven't gone back to the original trilogy, you might also forget just how big that delta is.

Not to mention the robots. I hope to never see one again in a Gears game. I don't think they're in E-Day.
