KyoZz

Tag, you're it.
Now you think: "WTF, did I read that correctly?" And yes, you did

Rockay City has more to offer than the 90s vibe, you'll also find some familiar faces here.

Rockay is a thriving metropolis whose effervescence extends from the sandy bay to the towering skyscrapers.
But beyond the glamour, a turf war rages... After the previous crime boss goes missing, the title of King of Rockay is up for grabs, but like you, others also covet the throne.

Hire pros according to their skills to carry out risky missions in the hope of getting your hands on money, territories, and eventually, the crown.

With the charismatic Travis Baker (Michael Madsen) and his team (Michael Rooker, Kim Basinger, Danny Glover and Damion Poitier), rival gang leaders (Danny Trejo and Vanilla Ice) and Sheriff Norris (Chuck Norris): the important thing is not your information, but your relationships.

Biggest WTF of the show, probably. There's no way this is real, right? How the hell did so many Hollywood actors get roped in to working on this?

Well, since Saints Row shit the bed this year, this might be the poor man's GTA clone we've been looking for.

Played the shit out of Payday 2. Will definitely pick this up. Day 1 if there's a single player offline story mode.

Payday done by an even dumber dev with big names... what a huge waste of money.

If this didn't have all those celebrities than this game wouldn't even make a fart in a windstorm.

It looks like they improved NOTHING from Payday, including the awful "stealth" that doesn't really work.

Fuck this game.

I do like how with video games it's much easier to go back in time and create the younger version of actors as you remember them. All of the actors here look their peak prime age, from the 90s and 80s.

No interesting in this type of game though, shame.

All of them are pretty much retired.

Why does this scream scam? If you can't play as The Chuck I'll gather a riot
How the fuck does it "scream scam" ?

It is made by a team here in Czechland that's composed of industry professionals, who worked on everything from Mafia to Kingdom Come. Hell the head of studio created his first game as 17 year old teenager, it was first commercially released and successful game in the country, Secret of Donkey Island (yep, it was a parody of Monkey Island). The he did Vietcong and worked on Mafia 2 and 3 and some others.

I don't expect this to be some high art, but I am pretty sure it will be a competent co-op action game.

Reading this new preview/interview, the game sounds quite interesting, design-wise

Definitely not just a Payday clone. The overall structure is completely different.

"There's the idea that every time you play it, the set-up is different," Kolář said. "Like your position in the city is a little bit different, the turfs of your enemies are a little bit different, and also, the missions that are popping up are different."
To fill out this approach, the studio crafted a number of plot lines that appear randomly based on what is going on in your particular run.
"So based on what you have done or how much money you've got or some decisions you've made, certain plot lines appear," Kolář said. "And, again, you are giving some choices. So there are some missions that you need to do, and based on the result of those missions, these plot lines progress."
For example, depending on who you have in your crew, they might talk to you about a specific opportunity. But to do that bigger mission, you'll need to complete some smaller missions, which could lead to a really difficult or big heist.

Crime Boss: Rockay City seems to be trying to fill a Payday-sized void that we're not sure exists.

Payday 2 will be a decade old this August but it's still getting new content in 2023, with the latest expansion, Hostile Takeover Heist, releasing in February 2023. Much like the Payday games, Crime Boss is a co-op first-person shooter where groups of four tackle heists and have to mow down waves of cops whenever things go wrong. Unlike those games, however, Crime Boss doesn't seem to offer as much freedom in how you plan a heist--it makes for a not-very-engaging experience, though we're hopeful the story-driven campaign rectifies that shortcoming with its roguelite inspirations. At a preview event, we got to play about an hour of the game's Urban Legends mode,
