I hated that shit. It was always instant Lord of the Flies when everyone hit the showers. The big guys would seek out the little guys and abuse them horribly. And while I might normally have tried to intervene, I wasn't doing shit while naked and vulnerable.

I'm sitting here having flashbacks, now. Ugh.

But every time I watch an American movie or show depicting a high school or college change room/locker room/showers, it’s presented as if the guys are all showering together naked or changing in front of each other?

We frequently suggested that he was a closet pedo. Between the showering and the constant desire to lay a paddle across our asses, it wouldn't have been a shock. Mostly, though, he was just an uncaring dick. Like many coaches, he believed a little hazing and bullying was good for kids.

Since forever Ive been taking showers naked with my classmates without any kind of problem. And they were common showers. And now i do it with total strangers in the Gym/University and even with my coworkers, some of them being >60yo.

I'm pretty surprised by how many of you are skittish about gym/dorm showers. My dorm showers had curtains but at the school gym it was a giant open space with shower heads around the perimeter and on poles in the center. It wasn't a big deal at all. Showered at the gym all the time and after crew practice and nobody seemed weird about it.

Well, yeah, there was a big room with showers that people used. I remember them being quite widely-used in middle school (mostly 6th grade PE, surprisingly), there being even some weird talk about some kids washing each other/playing doctor (I kid you not). I never took a shower, mostly because I've always been extremely self-conscious and hated my body (I can't look at myself in the mirror) and also because I don't really sweat very much, let alone stink.

There was one guy who wasn't circumcised, and we mocked him relentlessly. I have no idea why.

Football players at my school had their own locker room and you had to walk through a small medical room and the main locker room to get to the showers. For the people who are like "what's the big deal", this is a big part of it. If you were somebody who was already on the receiving end of teasing/etc. from other male students at your school, being naked with them in a tucked-away corner of a locker room just made it far worse.

Kids in my elemantry/high schools didn't shower after gym. I wouldn't have done it, even if it was the custom. Like hell was I getting naked in front of anyone THAT immature. Little shits don't know how to deal with the word "penis," let alone actual nudity.

I didn't mind doing it at the swimming pool, though. I went to the adult swim, so there weren't any kids there being stupid anyway.
