The smaller Sony games have better soundtracks IMO, like Hohokum, it had great music or Puppeteer, where each stage had a different theme and matching music.
Like this one, you only need to hear a bit of the music to know what theme the stage is:


Stupid Sony, at least make Puppeteer playable on Ps4/PS5 if you are are too lazy/greedy to remaster it! A basic re-release will do.

There are similar motifs used throughout, but they are not exactly the same.

Raeb's theme for instance is pretty awesome because it's tonally completely different from the Huldra Brothers despite reusing the same notes. It's completely transformational and adds so much emotional weight to the ending scene, that if the notes weren't reused it simply wouldn't have the same impact.

No, in fact it was very disappointing for me. I can't believe it was done by the same author of the previous GOW. I felt it more generic than epic, like those Marvel OST that your forget as soon you finish the movie (except the Avengers main theme, of course).

Bloodborne has to take the title, since you say SIE.

Alas, Bloodborne won't get as much oorah simply due to it being a pre Elden Ring soulsborne title and therefor not nearly gotten as much exposure (sad) no matter how good (sublime).

c'mon the first 3 GoW soundtrack are powerful.

I really liked the Ragnarok soundtrack. However given Housemarque is now SIE, I’d have to say Returnal’s soundtrack hit harder for me. The first time I got to Nemesis — headphones on, adrenaline pumping, the music acted as a perfect compliment to the gameplay…



Also — honorable mention, Horizon FW’s soundtrack while not as good as Returnal or Ragnarok is definitely underrated.

Nemesis is one of my favorite boss fights of all time. The first time I got there it blew me away.
