Well you need to understand some GAFers were smoking something about over 10 million on Steam… 20 million overall and on the way to 30 million.

Open world games sell a ton. A that's great as that's my tastes in games. More open the better. When I play them it's more fun for me just mucking around exploring than bee-lining the plot. Then I eventually finish off the main quest which seems boring most of the time.Open world =
Expect to see every Soulslike going this route.

From the little data we have (basic Europe lacking some physical sales) consoles had more sales than Steam. The ratio is probably around 60% consoles 40% PC if we include the missing physical data. The crazy thing is the Steam sales are through the roof and I predict more sales on Steam than all consoles combined.
Anecdotal, but everyone I know in Japan bought it on steam. Is pc gaming relevant in Japan?
Those PC estimates always seem to be a bit exaggerated.Exactly what I was thinking.
We were hearing 20-30 million copies sold cause PC alone probably is 10-15 million cause almost 1 million concurrent users just on Steam.
12 million is still impressive but still less than CyberPunk
These are CoD in decadence numbers… like the last game (Vaguard) that flopped and lead to the actual Activision situation. These are call of duty numbers right ?
This is a clear middle finger to quest logs, holding your hand , waypoints , easy difficulty and accessibility.
Learn from this ubisoft ,guirella games and others that do open worlds

I think the social aspect played a big part in this. They have clearly given it a bigger thought in this one which in opinion pushed the game to a wider audience. On target for $1 billion in revenue. Has to be the biggest selling hard core game of all time.
Gaming is THE mainstream entertainment medium today.
I thought we will see even larger PC percentage, from China and NA number
That developers don’t have to use laughably on-rails game design from 2007 to find industry leading success. That they don’t have to shy away from letting players explore, discover, and puzzle over elements of their games, over fear they’re alienating an audience because they weren’t told how unbelievably incredible they are for opening the first door in the mandatory and insultingly simple tutorial, triggering levels ups, unlocks, achievements and an orgy of on-screen effects four seconds after pressing “start”.What changes?
I'm not being sarcastic, just curious to see how this alters anything.
Should of had an easy mode then it would have been a real hitI thought this was a niche genre.
Small mistake, pc is 44%.46% PC/40% PS/16% Xbox (Europe)*
Instead players are using YouTube videos for where to go, and how to break the game instead. That developers don’t have to use laughably on-rails game design from 2007 to find industry leading success.
'B-but they'd sell more if they put in an easy mode!!!'“Fuck accessibility” - Miyazaki
Yes, it's literally the same thing, except it's not.Instead players are using YouTube videos for where to go, and how to break the game instead.
Seems silly to claim the game doesn't hold your hand when people are searching off site to see how to get thier hand held.
Shut up man. You don't understand the discord steampy numbers I'm member thereWell you need to understand some GAFers were smoking something about over 10 million on Steam… 20 million overall and on the way to 30 million.
Right, because one makes you leave the game or pay attention to 2 screens at once instead of just dedicating your time to one screen.Yes, it's literally the same thing, except it's not.
Simply incredible. 12m without being on sale at all. This game is going to have incredible legs over the next 3-5 years and once it starts hitting the sales and eventually deep sales it will surpass 25m easily.
Imagine the guy dead set it sold over 10 million on Steam alone lol
Steam is probably less than 5 million.
Great for the game… it already reached Dark Souls 3 sales… from now on is just increasing the fan base.
Small mistake, pc is 44%.
In terms of the other markets, I would have Sony/MS bigger in JP but smaller in the US based on console splits. That US number difference imo should be smaller than what we know of the UK.
An objectively accurate claim. What a silly post: players seek external information for everything, judging by the content of YouTube. Suddenly, this is a mark against Elden Ring?Instead players are using YouTube videos for where to go, and how to break the game instead.

Fantastic sales for any game, but even more impressive for a new IP with a high degree of difficulty.
You know, this the outcome that cdpr could have gotten, but they dropped the ball hard. Now CP2077 has got 50% off, and has lost tons of goodwill for their next product.
Meanwhile ER just sold an insane numbers, and garnered even more goodwill. ER will not be seeing discount anytime soon.
And their next game will sell even more with less advertising because the goodwill is at the prak right now.
Neogaf doesn’t have a good track record of being good at predicting things. And plenty of Gaffers thought that Horizon FW was going to outsell Elden Ring easily......I dont think anyone predicted that Elden RIng would literally suck all the air out of the room and dwarf two Sony exclusives in two and a half weeks.
We all often get shit wrong on here, its what makes it all so interesting. lol
Neogaf doesn’t have a good track record of being good at predicting things.
what I find it odd is Sony releasing 2 exclusives so close to each other and advertising elden ring! That is what I find interesting…
