Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco has reportedly fallen victim to a ransomware attack.

According to vx-underground, which bills itself as the largest collection of malware source code, samples, and papers on the internet, the ALPHV ransomware group claims to have ransomed Bandai Namco.

“ALPHV ransomware group (alternatively referred to as BlackCat ransomware group) claims to have ransomed Bandai Namco,” vx-underground tweeted on Monday.

Hackers reportedly stated that they will leak content.

A lot of firms have no choice but to pay to get their stuff back. Ransomware attacks are about holding your data hostage, not stopping it from being leaked to the public.

Capcom had a old VPN still active, which caused their data breach.

I’m curious to who clicked the bad link in the email?

So innovative, yet so vulnerable.

They've already publicly stated that it's a new franchise, which was probably why they got GRRM to do the worldbuilding to begin with.

According to its publisher, that success has translated into the potential for follow-ups. Bandai Namco seems optimistic about the future of the notoriously difficult Elden Ring, citing its exceptional sales as a "fantastic start for the new franchise."
