Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Logic Artists have announced turn-based strategy RPG Expeditions: Rome for PC (Steam). It will launch in 2021.

Here is an overview of the game, via THQ Nordic:

About
The future of Rome is in your hands: what will your legacy be?
Take on the role of a young Legatus whose father was murdered by an unknown political opponent, forcing you to escape Rome and take refuge in the military campaign to subdue a Greek rebellion. Step by step, you increase your military prowess, strengthen yourself in the forge of combat, and become the Legatus everyone learns to both respect, and to fear.
In Expeditions: Rome, you exert the will of Rome through your actions across the world stage, from the bright blue coasts of Greece to the deep forests of Gaul. Decide how people will view you, and Rome. Will you strike with an iron fist, or speak with a silver tongue? Will you embrace the political heritage of the Republic, or carve your own path as you navigate the complex politics of the Roman Senate? Every choice matters as you decide the fate of your legion, your close companions, and of Rome itself.

Strange but I just reinstalled Expeditions: Viking today. Good games - clearly not big budget but great if you enjoy that style of RPG.

Go play their first title Expeditions Conquistadors. Its not remarkable in gameplay but makes up for in some dark choices, story and I just love the atmosphere.

Oh this thread reminds me I need to check out the demo. I played their previous versions and liked all of them for a while but never finished one. This seems like a step up.

Expeditions: Rome reviewed by Leana Hafer on PC.

Between the tough but engaging tactical battles, a robust campaign system, uncommonly strong plot and characters, and the chance to live through so much of one of the most fascinating periods in all of history, Expeditions: Rome is one of the better tactical RPGs of the last several years. It can feel weighed down at times by all the systems it tries to cram in, and the mass combat remains a vexing enigma that no tooltip or tutorial can properly explain. But with interesting random events, meaningful strategic choices, and plenty of brain-bending smaller-scale scenarios to keep things fresh, that can be mostly forgiven. These developers deserve a Roman triumph.

The only game in this setting that's good is "A legionnaires life", made by an Italian as opposed to desperate Anglos obsessed with a far superior culture.
