PS5 did ok this week. Hopefully it keeps that up. The PS4 has simply evaporated. While this certainly isnt bad if you compare to what Sony has usually done last year(Which was horrible already) , with the news of Activision and Blizzard being bought, it just makes their overall situation even worse, now that they have been beaten by Nintendo in Japan.

Hope they turn this around, because they cant face MS and specially Nintendo if this keeps up.

Software wise, there is nothing interesting this week.

Looks like the Switch sales are about half of what they were this week last year. Switch really is in a steep downtrend. Unless there are stock issues with Switch.
Following the DS. It should see a major drop this year.

Its a a really interesting comparison. This year's week 3 number is comfortably above that of 2018 and 2019 and slightly above 2020, and so is the 2nd best week 3 in Switch's history. However, there's a very big gap between it and week 3 2021, possibly due to the announcement of a new state of emergency around Tokyo week: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/07/world/asia/japan-tokyo-state-of-emergency.html

Considering last week was flat, I'd say extrapolating a trend from 1 week is a little short sited
Sure, but it's still a massive drop off, and this is a week before Pokemon launches. Last January didn't have any type of release of that scope so to see sales where they are may be somewhat telling. But to your point, agreed. We're only two weeks into the year. And with those big titles releasing this year this may not be indicative of where sales are headed.

What was the biggest launches on Switch last year for the Japanese audience? I can only think of Monster Hunter Rise (and maybe the Pokemon remake). But this year we have a brand new Pokemon, Kirby and Splatoon, which are all hugely popular in Japan.

Is there a team 2021 vs 2022 yet? I'd join the former even with the upcoming releases.

Last year had the January Covid restrictions, which is why in 2021 week 3 was higher for Switch than week 2 (in every other year it was lower).

So you're right that 2022 will be down on 2021, but not by as much as this week.

1.3 million "owners" couldn't even be bothered to pick up more than 1892 copies of a single PS4/PS5 game. Just absolutely shambolic.
