I shudder to think what would happen to the Japanese market if the next Nintendo platform stumbles.

Nintendo should just extend the Switch another few years by releasing a more powerful hardware revision, and buy themselves 3+ more years before a successor is needed.

I wonder the same thing. Obviously it's gonna be hard to follow up the Switch, next gen. Because it's always hard, especially at this level. At the same time, a more powerful revision is a little far fetched, in my opinion.

I believe Nintendo will go straight next-gen, when the time comes.

In these times, a generation lasts seven years. So I'm expecting Switch 2 for 2024. But it's all up in the air really. We don't know.

OLED IS their revision. They charge more for it. It's got 3 more years in it.
Yikes! I really hope not. I would imagine OLED will slowly take over as the base model, OG will go away, and Super Switch with 4K will come. OLED price drop to match base model before Super Switch comes out. That’s how I see this platform going in the next 2-3 years.

Switch with another flawless victory. 30/30.

It might be 4K, but if that's the case, we're probably looking at a bigger time frame. We'll get it later than we're expecting.

Also, there is a high possibility that Nintendo won't follow a sustaining pattern. That would be a Switch 2 that is simply more powerful. You can quote me if I'm wrong, but I think they will have something other than horsepower taking the center stage. We'll see, hopefully.

I think Nintendo recognizes that 4K is growing and is a centerpiece for the next generation, but they will never create some sort of big expensive box like Sony or Microsoft.

There is no point at all for Nintendo to release a new machine right now, wait until the chip shortages improve, and wait for cheaper options to pull off 4K in a smaller device.

Everything that I see points towards a Switch 2 that will be about as powerful as a PS4 Pro or something in that ballpark, and pull off some sort of mediocre 4K thing. Which is fine, the Switch lives outside the spectrum of the PS5 and Series X, and making some new Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon games in the fidelity of something like Red Dead Redemption 2 with an OLED screen would be more than enough to sell well.

WTaF? I know it's been done before (by the Switch), but I honestly thought we'd see the end of that with the advent of the PS5. This is just mind-numbing dominance that's unlikely to ever repeat itself.

They are going to wait, but they aren't going to release any Pro, its potential userbase would be very niche compared to a real succesor, it would not only be aimed at graphic obsessed gamers, from those only a minority would be buying a Switch Pro

With DLSS the 4k shouldn't be mediocre.
