I've never understood the phenomenon known as hate-watching(because why keep tuning in to something you would dislike), but after reading this thread I now see what the phrase really means. I still don't get the appeal, but I guess it seems fun for some here.

By the way if you go to the related channels section of their YouTube profile, you'll see that they did not change the channel to X-play for the reasons you've all stated, but instead they've split the shows into different YouTube accounts. Maybe this is a move to promote competition amongst their own shows or gain more followers and money, who knows. It could be a smart move though for the future if people aren't fans of certain hosts and don't want to see them with a simple unsub.

I do find it a bit frustrating and funny at the same time that so many people who will complain about SJW's and that female characters are ugly in games, or that game journalists are a bunch of prudes have such a hate boner for Amouranth and women like her tho.
Like some people are unironically mad about her appearance on the show and there's so many people on Twitter, Reddit and on Youtube who harp on about real women being sexual constantly, sounds like a bunch of grumpy grandmas.
Sure it's funny and hypocritical of G4, but I think some of the ways that the blowback is being expressed is also very hypocritical, either that or it's just blatant concern trolling.

It is such an easy win for them to do three simple things:

1.) Fire Frosk. She hates games and gamers, she makes everything about herself, has zero self awareness, and actively makes everything she is a part of on the shows worse.

2.) Apologize and promise not to bring politics into any discussion and to not antagonize the audience.

3.) Focus on the tech and games. That is what G4 is known for. Stop trying to shill NFTs.

They need to have a touch of titillation tho. Don’t need to be sexist about it tho, also on occasion throw in a buff guy without a shirt for the 1% women audience.

Yep. However I don’t think it’s feasible to get rid of him, even if I would love to I see him go.

Sessler unfortunately suffers from hardcore liberal brain rot but he’s good at what he does and is the one thing that gives nu-G4TV legitimacy.

If he doesn't bring that trash to the show then I suppose it's no biggie but with THAT kind of closed mindedness and hatred, how can it not seep into all areas of his life? As soon as a Republican president is elected he WILL bring it anywhere he can.

Yes, somehow I recall him being interesting (in the PS360 area)... but since that bad trip interview he's completely lost the plot, can't do a review without attacking people because he assumes this or that about their views. If anything this whole take on things is destructive to the values he pretends to want to spread (more like eliminate those who don`t fall in line).

Attack of the Show is a variety and sketch vehicle and the entire cast is great. They're fine.

X-Play, on the other hand, I am waiting to see what changes they make - which are due any day now. Adam and Jirard are fine, but it's apparent that The Black Hokage and Korusk or whatever her handle is could use replacing. At its core X-Play was a celebration of the hobby and led by hosts who were clearly enthusiasts and enjoyed everything about gaming to great detail (Adam and Morgan). Even their guest hosts like Blair were enthusiasts, or if they weren't, they were certainly convincing as cosplaying as such.

While it didn't seem obvious at first, TBH and Korusk (?) have shown as time went on that they're pretty much pretending to be enthusiasts. It really detracts from the show when one realizes that two of the four core hosts don't even bother to keep up with surface-level gaming news and often can't even offer an informed opinion on many of the most popular franchises out there. They come off as entertainers first and second, commentators third, and gaming enthusiasts fourth. Edit: Oh, and that Ovilee girl seems to know her stuff about eSports and is very engaged with it, but they went and took her show away. They should have used her as one of the main hosts instead of the other woman

We'll see. At least their numbers have been up across the board in recent weeks.
