Razor nailed it quite good
Yes. He pretty much captured the problem.
G4 was originally leaning on some sex appeal and now they are punishing the audience for expecting it.
They are not really being fair. They should have said that times have changed and they are no longer doing that. Still, that is not 100% true.
They do have a host that kind of plays that angle.

I really think there is some jealousy there, which is why they still don't have Colin on even years later. Shame, Colin and Greg together was my favorite media duo in games. But I think it's telling I only still follow Colin.
The last couple of episodes of kinda that I watched back in the days were horrible. The other guys kept bragging about their groopie pickups, greg has the level of knowledge that some random kid has about videogames, I'm not sure what the new guys did there.

However, when Colin was involved and Greg provided the comic relief it did work for a while.

I'm surprised that Colin does so well, but I'm not surprised at all that kinda is down the gutter.

Austin Creed will make it all better.
XPlay has been catching up on reviews. There have been lots of reviews recently of past games.

I just don't care about the current drama I am so fucking over all of this American bullshit with constant drama and ragebait, I think they know what they're doing I don't think it's actually genuine.
Maybe it's a little genuine but for the most part I think they just do this because they know it'll get clicks and views and I am really tired of it surrounding yourself with so much negativity constantly isn't healthy and it just takes all the fun of what's meant to be a hobby away.
Not saying you can't talk about problems with sexism and such, but the way they're doing it is meant to cause drama and little else.

Slasher who's an E-sports figure and a name a lot of people probably knows talked about this on a stream very recently and even admited to doing it himself, it's not genuine it's all '' entertainment '' and for exposure.
I think this is an overall cultural problem in the US too where everything is so dramatized and meant to be entertainment and get views, even news is like that it's ridiculous.
Compare basically any '' reality tv show '' in the US to any European version of it and it becomes pretty obvious ( compare Hells Kitchen UK to US ).
Not saying it's exclusively a US problem but it's definitely magnified a lot in the US, and even when it's not Americans and it's Europeans it's usually British people and they still talk about the US or adopt the way US journalists do things ( see Eurogamer and any British political Youtuber ).
It's like how basically every streamer and entertainment personality/ outspoken person from the industry is a full on Socialist and have identical views and politics on basically everything.
It's not real, they didn't all just collectively change all at once at the same time they're doing it because it's expedient for their own career and expected.

Yeah if you liked G4 in the past, expect it to just be yet another '' one of those '' today.
To me I see no joy in any of this unless you just want to be angry about something and perpetuate the problem.

Wait seriously? How do these woke, disgusting human beings that are absolutely shit at their jobs keep getting better gigs?

Everything about the woke world I can easily ignore but this failing upwards thing really gets to me.
The amount of diversity boxes she checks I HAVE to assume.

It cannot be game knowledge. Every time she opens her mouth, she exposes herself as being entirely ignorant of so much about gaming. League of Legends she was a MIDDLING caster. Her gamesense was rarely accurate, her draft analysis was horrid to the point PROS WOULD JOKE ABOUT PICKING A "FROSK PICK" instead of saying they inted. She was a complete joke and the thing about her is she lets it get to her. She didn't take any criticism instead she'd say things like "your girlfriend wants to fuck me" as a clapback. Umm, my wife is definitely not interested in a tatted up, 5'1 110 soaking wet shrill harpy.

She's a complete joke. The League reddit threads where she would get dunked on and try to clapback were hilarious because her thin skin was so obvious.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."

6’5” sex haver here, one reason why you don’t put “face for radio people” in front of the camera is because the audience will say a bunch of mean shit. Secondly they have unfiltered chat displayed in their studio. Who the fuck wants that when you know the audience is just talking about your looks and beating off? Don’t take it as victim blaming but an assessment to make your life better.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, if I was lucky enough to have a job where I was paid to talk about and play videogames, interacting with/combating trolls would be the last thing on my mind.

It just makes no sense to me how these people can have these niche jobs that lots of people would die for but they manage to make it sound like it's a miserable experience.

Go work in a restaurant or any kind of office, 99% of jobs are truly awful. Why can't people be thankful for these niche positions they made it to? There always has to be some stupid ass drama being brought into things.

The problem is that they have two female hosts that are kind of on the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Frosk and Gina Darling.
They are expecting the audience to react two different ways at the same time.
Imo I do think that there is a problem with people being gross about it, it's the same with people spamming '' booba '' the moment a woman is on screen on Twitch or every time someone posts art the entire comment section becomes a bunch of sex comments.
It's really immature and I do think it's gross and makes people uncomfortable.
You can appreciate sexualized content while also at the same time not behave like an out of control monkey who saw a banana.
Just relax a little and use your brain, practice a little bit of self-control and common decency.

Telling women that you jerked off to them too is just weird and just because you do sexualized content doesn't mean you're comfortable with a bunch of neckbeards quite literally telling you that.
If you're a rly attractive guy who takes your shirt off you'd probably get uncomfortable too if you had a bunch of rly unattractive women ( or men ) start drooling over you like that, at least as a guy tho you generally don't have to worry about being raped like women do there is a more direct threat there for women.
There's a difference between doing it in private and basically walking up to someone and telling them about it they're not the same at all.
Even cam girls and people who do actual porn have rules against this and will put up with way less than what most people would probably expect considering their profession but in the end of the day it's about personal autonomy and boundaries.
You can't stop someone from thinking about you and jerking off and it's not wrong to do it you're essentially thought policing by trying to stop it.
But at the same time when you start throwing it in peoples face you're no longer just thinking about it you're taking it out of a private setting and making it public.

So basically I agree with what I heard her say at least, with her overall point.
I don't agree with the way she communicated it and I do think it was meant to stir up drama and not to be genuine.

I think what they need to do is totally ignore chat. Run it like a TV show.
It is really a case of poor chat conduct, but I doubt that will change. You basically need a bot that bans anyone making a sexual comment.

I guess I never understand why these antagonistic asshole personality types think they're in any way appealing? You're not going to win over people or gain good will by being an asshole and just randomly going off on these bullshit talking points. I mean maybe you'll get a niche following of sycophants, but it won't go anything beyond that.

What a way to relaunch your channel by immediately calling out the audience and forgetting entirely what the show you are rebooting was like.
I enjoyed G4 and Xplay back in the day as it had a sense of humor about itself, its content, and its culture. This grim, political, identity-driven format takes itself way too seriously. They're not saving lives or changing minds, so why even act like it.

If the strategy was to depth charge this channel as quickly as possible, mission accomplished. There are enough assholes and preachers out there already without having to actively tune in for it.

I feel like Sessler used to be a nice, funny guy who is now just a white-hot ball of hate. Looks like he found the female version of that too. Best of luck I guess.

That line that's constantly repeated by 3rd waves always wreaked of insecure projection.
Again it is always the ugly ones (both inside and out) that harp on it the most. While it's true that there's always a segment of anon internet creeps that will hurl insults just because they're trolls. But they'll do that regardless of sex/gender or whatever. And calling them out isn't going to make them stop. In fact by paying them attention you'll only make it worse.

Yes. Gina Darling is pretty much the anti-Frosk.
They will have to tone her down if they want to not to pander to the audience.

What weirds me out is the sheer venom for a political party that isn't in power!

Its kinda bizarre if you think about it, I mean are things really going so great under the Biden admin that you want to bury your only possible alternative?
I just cannot believe that some people actually think like this! Over fucking politics! They're willing to smear a whole group of people over political beliefs! Would they smear a group of people based on their skin color? Their nationality? He is a fucking douchbag.

The problem is that if they say "times have changed" then they'd have to acknowledge that G4 itself is depending on people being in a time bubble to even justify it's existence. It was never a particularly good videogame channel - it was more notable for pioneering it on Cable TV at the expense of dumbifying it for the "masses" - so nostalgia is literally most of what they have going for it now.

G4 was and still is primarily geared towards young teenage men.

After seeing that absurd and hysterical outburst that’s trending on YouTube with that bizarre and ugly “female” host, I don’t see G4 sticking around much longer. The pathetic egging on and clapping from the beta male hosts was also ridiculous and cringeworthy.

G4 needs to stick to video games, internet culture, and attractive hosts with comedic personalities. Nobody wants to see mental misfits screaming through the television insulting the audience.

Pathetic.

Did anybody even care about G4? Even 20 years ago when I had cable I barely ever watched it. It was some vapid, mildly amusing MTV-style lowest-common denominator crap. I thought the only reason people watched it were 1. T&A and 2. It was the only gaming-related channel back in the pre-YouTube days.

I'd wager that the primary reason G4 was as successful as it was in its prime is because it had no competition. No one else was doing videogame content on TV that I can think of, and gamers, like myself, were happy to take what we could get. And even then, I often found it rather shallow and lagging behind what I already knew from other sources (gaming sites, forums, magazines, etc).

It's been 20 years since its debut. Times have changed. The internet is overflowing with video game content, much of which is superior to anything XPlay did on its best day.

This relaunch, or whatever you wanna call it, is fueled by nostalgia alone. Once that fuel burns up, and it won't take long, it's fucking done.

Whine sirens like blondie here, or impotent rage warriors like Sessler, will only hasten its demise.

I won't consume a single second of the new G4, but I will lap up reports of its implosion with ravenous delight.

That is the funny part about it. They blatantly hire an attractive web personality that is pretty much the equivalent of Olivia Munn and now they are wagging their finger at the audience.

Sessler is beyond pathetic. Hates capitalism, makes show designed to pay him a wage. Doesnt see the disconnect. I would happily inject him with the HIV virus.

I don‘t like Sessler, but this is fucking disgusting. Good riddance, shitbag.

A lot of people did, and before G4 it was Tech TV. I get its your shtick to hate everything, but even you aren‘t this blind.

The best thing to ever come from g4 was the ability to see the real ninja warrior back in the day. So much better the. The trash American ninja warrior that came later

I enjoyed X-Play, Judgement Day, Arena, most of the AOTS up until the last few years.

They were fun, silly, Passionate.

Yes, there were girls in bikinis. There were also dudes in tight shirts, Conan cosplay, and more. G4 gave people what they wanted: Eye Candy and passion about their hobbies.
