How dark are people expecting the Dornish to be? Aren't they supposed to look Mediterranean? I thought the Summer Islanders are supposed to be the black people in this universe?

I was reading some online comments and some people wanted the Dornish to be played by black actors.
Oh I agree completely. I just meant I wondered what his British-ish accent would sound like, since I have only heard him speaking English with American and Latin American accents.

Man, the Viper is one of my favorite characters. I really wanted someone more rakish and snake like for the role, but I will wait and see. I hope he does it justice!

Yeah, he was "The Armenian Avenger" or whatever. I couldn't find a clip of him from the show (FX has scrubbed Lights Out off the interwebs), but I did track down the ridiculous rap lyrics.
He has a long list of credits. He's been busy for a while now.

Not all the Dornish are. The Martells are "salty" Dornishmen. A fairer olive skin than the other lords who live further out in the desert.

The only thing I've seen him in is Showtime's 'Sleeper Cell', and I thought that he was one of the weakest links in that show. I don't think he has the presence that The Red Viper requires.

I always thought the Meereen and Qarth and the other slave cities were the middle easternish type. Dornish I always assumed were South American just based on the weather and location similarities.

Yes.
Stony: Described as being as white as most people in the Seven Kingdoms. Brown and blonde hair.
Salty: "Smooth olive skin." House Martell is for the most part made up of Salty Dornishmen. [AFFC]
But the Sand Snakes vary wildly since they have mothers from all over.

Oberyn is slightly older than Jaime and Cersei. He's probably late 30's early 40's in the books. In the show they'll probably make him mid to late 40s.
Are the Dornish supposed to have accents? I always figured that they speak English the same just as everyone else. They just look different because a lot of their ancestors came from Essos through Nymeria's army.
That movie is fucking awesome, though
It's so fucking funny, there's a lot of little details in that movie that make me laugh.
The books mention a Dornish drawl, I think, but I have no idea what that would mean in the context of real world accents.
Anyway, he's about what I imagined. Olive but not dark dark. Maybe a little younger and softer looking, but a beard could fix that.
I wonder if the decision to go for a lesser known actor stems from how going for a name kind of burned them with Mance?
