How do you guys deal with burnout ?

you finish a game or two and you feel like no other game could satisfy you , you feel like its just more of the same so its very hard to start a new game , there is no motivation

you take a long brake between games ? or you never get burnout ?

Check your input lag. If your tv is running any image processing filters it will subtly make games feel less responsive.

Take some time out but don't forget to keep a note of games you might be interested in, just so you know what to play when you will want to.

Try to take action. To get started:

  • Evaluate your options. Discuss specific concerns with your parents. Maybe you can work together to change expectations or reach compromises or solutions. Try to set goals for what must get done and what can wait.
  • Seek support. Whether you reach out to friends or loved ones, support and collaboration might help you cope. If you have access to an videogame dependency program, take advantage of relevant services.
  • Try a relaxing activity. Explore programs that can help with stress such as yoga, meditation or tai chi.
  • Get some exercise. Regular physical activity can help you to better deal with videogame burnout. It can also take your mind off porn.
  • Get some sleep. Sleep restores well-being and helps protect your health.
  • Mindfulness. Mindfulness is the act of focusing on your breath flow and being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling at every moment, without interpretation or judgment. This practice involves facing situations with openness and patience, and without judgment.
Good luck, OP. (y)

Sounds like it's time to get married and wife that game.

Take a break for a bit and focus on your other hobbies. Then come back to games when you feel like you want to play again.

It happens and the only logical thing is to move on and do something else. For me it's super easy, it's in my muscle memory. That's how it should be. Play if you feel like, and if not then don't..... I take fairly long breaks sometimes, up to a month or so. And don't be surprised if it last longer than that if you're at a crossroad in life.

I barely get gaming burnout but I also do my other hobbies like building Legos or Gundam model kits and watching anime.

Basically take a break and do something else until you crave playing games.

Wait for the next big Nintendo release.

If it wasn’t for Nintendo I probably would have gave up on gaming as a constant hobby and probably saved a ton of money.. actually curse you Nintendo! 🤬

OK, that's it, turn off your computer and do something constructive.
Like play a little racquetball. Or wash your car.
Or cook dinner. Or join a funk band. Or travel to a foreign country Or run for president. Or talk to a member of the opposite sex. Or lube your car. Or hose a weenie roast. Or dig for buried treasure. Or milk a cow. Or have a yelling contest with your neighbor's dog. Or perform brain surgery. Or paint a yellow line in the center of your driveway. Or write your name in the snow. Or teach basket weaving to clams. Or sing Welsh folk songs at the bank. Or plant trees on public property. Or confuse the person next to you. Or make a triangular table. Or hop, skip, and jump. Or ride a train. Or organize your sock drawer alphabetically. Or go bowling with you mom. Or train potato bugs to do tricks. Or make a quilt. Or publish a magazine about pencil shavings. Or eat lime jello with pineapple in it. Or pave a freeway. Or learn to draw. Or take up photography. Or learn to tell time. Or photocopy money. Or got out for pasta. Or sew a dress. Or bathe your iguana. Or go fishing. Or paint a stranger's house in the middle of the night. Or take up windsurfing. Or change your hairstyle. Or sharpen your whiteboard markers. Or feed a toucan. Or enjoy the sun. Or do a crossword puzzle. Or buy some cool clothes. Or go to the beach. Or play croquet with your dad. Or water your plants. Or build a dollhouse. Or invite some friends over for salmon and white wine.

Play something different. Open world games and most "word of mouth" / AAA games don't do it for me.

Just gotta find the right game. If it doesn't get your attention within the first hour or so, drop it and try something else out.

Nintendo consoles or PC retro gaming to get through burn out phase.

Once you get back, get into opposite type of games that causes burn out.

Eg if you played story based games, get into online games and vice versa.

This worked for me at least.

Quit the hobby for a while or for a long while.

If you are meant to enjoy it, you'll eventually find your way back to it.

If the hobby dies for you, it dies...

Taking a break from doing it. If you end up not playing for very long time - so be it. It's not a job....
I realized trying to catch up to the latest and greatest isn't for me. Right now, I've been playing almost nothing but watching TV shows instead.

I wouldn't say I get burnt out, but there's times when I have no interest in starting or continuing to play a game. When that happens, I'll just go do other things. Hell, sometimes it's 6 months before something grabs me again. Unless your source of income is tied to gaming like being a streamer etc, then just go do something different.

On a side note, that's why I could never be a streamer or someone on Youtube creating content around gaming. I think it would make me hate games if my livelihood depended on it.

Netflix, photography, watching anime, reading, Lego... plenty of other hobbies to go around when I don't feel like gaming.

Normally happens to me after playing any souls From Software title. Usually doing other activities for a couple of weeks make the itch come back, like watching movies or anime.

Came for the touch grass bait. If I want to do something different but still gaming. That's usually when I play something more like an arcadey VR game.
Sometimes burnout can be mostly related to having to pay attention to story or the gameplay/difficulty. A lot of VR games have about no story, different gameplay, and usually not difficult.

replay that game you just finished (do something more with it, like speedrun or going for 100%) until you get bored and want to play something else :)

or just take a break, that works too
