Genshin Impact has had the highest first-year gaming revenue of all time. Beats GTA V, Fortnight. Makes more money than Vegas casinos.

Well deserved.

The game lacks endgame and multiplayer content once you get to a certain level, but otherwise it's a well crafted and very polished game with constant free updates. You can play it without spending a single cent and the game doesn't try to push you towards the cash shop in any obtrusive way. Visually it's absolutely stunning as well. This is the closest to 'playing an anime' that gaming has come so far. I love just walking across the vast world and taking screenshots of all the gorgeous sights. It's on equal footing with games likes Breath of the Wild and World of Warcraft in that regard.

As for the cashshop. I occasionally spend 5 or 10 euro on there but since I play it almost daily for at least a few minutes I figure it's worth it. Still cheaper than a monthly subscription MMO. The only thing that baffles me is the lack of costumes. People here are talking about waifus and husbandos but the game is surprisingly tame in the fanservice aspect. I would've expected bathing suits and wedding dresses all over the place by now. Most characters have a great design already so I don't mind, but eh... just something I would've thought they'd include to rake in the cash.

And this here people is the problem, if you read this you would think "oh hey its not so bad"

Except two things stand out, the guy saying you can play for peanuts later admits that they consistently throw money on it, and that it does not "push" you towards the cash shop despite the game having the highest earnings of any title this year.

Yeah see how these do not add up? And this is the issue with addicts they can't see it and say "oh it's not so bad its just money I had lying about anyway" is no one seeing the similarities with actual real world gamblers here?

Remember this is for a title with "no endgame" which means the only value this game provides you with is the dopamine rush when anouther hard to get character or weapon (all in lootboxes naturally) slide into place. This is by design, if you had things worth doing that are enjoyable and rewarding by just playing the game, that's money away from the cash shop, the design requires them to limit the possible enjoyment at the endgame otherwise people won't pay, its a balancing act but this game seems to have nailed it.

I am not saying there is not a great game hidden under there somewhere, but what I am saying is that the game is designed not to be great on purpose to get you to spend, and as the stats show its working. People saying "they don't push you" are stating this against the actual design documentation that this game was built on... that's how effective it is, the company does not have to defend it, the addicts do that for them.

Tell her we need more skins. Like yesterday. People are throwing money at the screen but nothing happens!
Hahaha will do

And the Switch version, for those interested, just forget about it (last conversation I had I actually asked my friend about it and that was the answer). Dunno if they completely cancelled it.

That's a shame. A game that steals so much from other games (most visibly BotW of course) but completely misses the point and is awful to play.

But the kids are having fun I guess.

The first picture is from a pre-release build which was criticized and got changed.
The second shows a character lifting some heavy shit so her face reflects that.

Be fair in your shitposting. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I don't understand how grown ass adult men play this and get super duper excited about throwing $$$ at some Chinese company to get the next pre pubescent looking anime girl to play... granted the game looks top tier but at the end of the day you're playing a fucking teen girl ffs, i downloaded it for the kids thinking they'd like it and the first 5mins of listening to that awful fucking voice put me in the next room, 10mins later i come back and they're back to Roblox

You have no idea what you're talking about.

GI didn't invented Battle Passes or subscriptions.

GI makes the most money from constellations aka duplicates.

It's not about getting a rare hero. You can achieve it if you're playing daily and save up. You can't get each and every one, but that's besides the point.

What's really hard to get is hero duplicates or a 5☆ weapon.

Neither is required to play or clear the content.

GI is no different to any other F2P game: it gets most of its money from WHALES, not from "poor exploited addicts who spend 5$ per month".

Addicts are people who spend 1000$ of dollars on imaginary sword and isn't getting it, but continue to play. New banners come every month. We are talking 1000s of dollars per month.

Saying that people who buy BP don't see through GI charade is ridiculous. Same can be told about any other game with Battle Pass.

You play the game daily? You're enjoying yourself? You love to fill stat bars and look at big numbers? Why not to pay for something you like?

People saying "they don't push you" are stating this against the actual design documentation that this game was built on...
No shit, it's F2P game. It's not a charity. Game was built on desire to hunt for whales, but unlike most other F2P games GI doesn't make F2P players existence miserable.

Compared to GTA V where you can't enjoy yourself in peace and farm some money in private lobbies GI is fair and relaxing.

Unlike Warframe GI doesn't have a ridiculous amount of random systems thrown at you every 5 seconds.

GI doesn't have online leaderboards or PVP content, so in that regard it's also pretty fair and doesn't make F2P players feel like shit because they're not paying and can compete with the top 1%.

So yeah... your hate for gacha/ F2P in general doesn't let you to look at GI objectively.

but at the end of the day you're playing a fucking teen girl ffs
You prefer the Last of Us 2?

In the Last of Us 1 Dlc there was an underage lesbian kiss.

In GI there's absolutely no sex related stuff. It's a heavily censored game, basically the most PC animu game out there.

There's no 10 yo girls in Genshin. There's literally 2 kiddos in the whole game. And they're kids. Like... kids, ok? No lewd stuff.

If you prefer this:

Then we like different characters designs.

To you anything anime is either kids cartoon or lewd shit for incels. Such a hot take...

Not bad for a "Chinese BoTW rip-off".

Japanese companies (not named Nintendo) can only dream about such numbers. F2P/GAAS is here to stay, so maybe it's time for Square to actually do something about GI dominance...
Just because they've perfected the art of hooking whales doesn't mean the game is any good

Well with that information released, I assume we'll be seeing more anime-tiddie gotcha games from bigger studios.

Well, I play it regularly and the money fallacy is one that all comes up when people talk about it without any idea of the game. You don't have to spend money on the game to get anything. It is a dichotomy of time commitment vs money. Content is free. New regions? Free. Story quests and character-focused stories (Even for the ones you don't have) are free. There is always a steady flow of content every 6 weeks with each big patch, then there are events and other content between this time frame.

The only but, and a big one at that, with the game, is if only you are a collector type of gamer with OCD about getting everything. You won't get everything unless you pay some bucks because you can't get enough in-game currency to get all the items in the game in a timely manner... or just be lucky with the gacha system (you won't for long). It is by design, if you want everything you buy currency. However, you aren't forced to get every character and weapon in the game because most things in the game are viable, even the beginning characters. What most players do to get what they want is wait and gather enough currency by playing for free to get what you want because the content is always in rotation, so things you might have missed when you didn't have enough currency to guarantee them will come back at a later date. That is the most optimal way to play the game. If you are desperate and have the money, you can brute force your way to getting everything in the game, but it is not the way meant to be played unless you have the money to spare.

I don't know where people got the idea you can't play the game optimally without spending on it. Gacha is an insidious gaming model to push people into spending to get what they want in the game by abusing of FOMO like most live services games nowadays, but you can easily play the game without spending a single penny.

Not trying to discredit the game. Its a well rounded, fun to play game with alot of things to do and character variety is damn good. Played for a long time and didn't spend a buck on this game.

But you can't simply believe the word "free" here is not a tool to make people spend money. Its a strategy companies do to make their consumers imput cash on them, either because of waifus, contribution, meta, fun or weapons. Remember, first and foremost its a gatcha. No matter what people said, nothing is garented, saving resources is no garanted and even pity system is not garanted because it doesn't give you what you want. If this game wasn't free, people wouldn't spend a dime on it. GI simply mastered the tatics of a GaS.

I've been waiting for it since day 1 of GI release. Still nothing on the horizon.

Hopefully with less generic designs than Genshit
Easy cowboy, easy. No need to be upset. It's not GI fault that Square and Japanese devs in general is so incompetent. Can GI designs can be improved? Sure thing! But where's GI alternatives at?

Yes, and that is why it's not worth paying big bucks on it at all. This is a pro-profit company doing all they can to rip a hole into your wallet if you have a weak psyche. Sadly, that is how most games operate these days. The problem with Gachas, Fifa, CoD, GTA, Battle Royales, Destiny 2, Warframe, Card games, some MMOs, Eve Online and other space simulators with their own economy, and the mobile market in general, is THEY WANT YOUR MONEY and their business thrive on preying on Whales who will spend thousands each time new content gets introduced in those games, it is them who keep the games afloat and justify it going free to play for more exposure and a few bucks from dolphins and light spenders. No gaming company is your friend, they just want your money, and they will resort to every legal and grey area method to get to your funds.

It's a nice game with stuff to do when a new update drops. Unfortunately the lack of end game content is something i believe other developers will focus on, when eventually a "Genshin competitor" is released. I play the game everyday and sometimes buy a welkin moon subscription.

Never forget the bait they did with Rosaria. Show a character and a few updates later when she becomes a playable character she ends up receiving an "appearance adjustment" :messenger_confounded:

Why? Because more money is bad?

Why is that a good thing?
I see it as an East vs West thing. I have yet to see any reason it's not on xbox. It's just simply NOT on Xbox. I've read one article from with a quote from the developer stating they have no plans for xbox.
Just recently China has put the breaks on Fortnight.
Any word on Genshin Impact restrictions yet?
I put this game on a conspiracy level of 7 out of 10 for shenanigans.

MiHoYo management voluntary joined CCP and accepted all new regulations recently proposed by CCP.

Doubt that it has anything to do with no XBOX release tho. It's probably a Sony money hat, don't forget they even had a collab with Horizon ZD to promote its sequel. And it was one and only collab yet.

So yeah, what a day to be alive when a Japanese company pays money to a Chinese company to keep its F2P game as a console exclusive lol

So then there is an agreement for console exclusivity? If so then I lower my conspiracy level to a 6 on the shenannigans scale.

When you see stuff like this game, GTAV, New World, Vallheim, etc, it really makes you worry what kind of games we will be playing 10 years from now.
