Like what? Could you put them on a spoiler? I beat the game back in it's day and legit can't remember any of those. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
there are certain chests and items you can only access after you've lowered the water level in the lake of nine. The level design totally changes when the water level drops so you need to progress the story. You also need to have gotten items like the axe upgrades, the blades and the thing that creates the walk ways to complete some of the puzzles that get you to those chests. Also the special item that lets you open the doors to the valkyries

56k for Horizon Zero Dawn.

27k for Days Gone

Like i said, GOW numbers are pretty standard, not terrible, not great, just solid.
If God of War Ragnarok launched day and date on Steam, we would probably be talking in the 70-90k range.

It works different on PC than console which have massive sales for the first week or two, then drop off a cliff. PC games start much lower, but have much longer and consistent legs for months to come.

Thanks man.

I didn't remember needing those upgrades, guess that's what I was missing. I do remember the lake very well tho, it was one of my favorite things from the game... Got me totally by surprise and I spent hours exploring it.

bitbydeath bitbydeath don't know about Demon's, many might have played it emulted already, but Bloodborne? That would be much more than 49k I think.

Eventually I think 1 year tops is what the length will be for major 1st party games to come to PC. There's simply too much money to be had and at the end of the day they're a business. A year isn't bad either since by then all the dlc and patches should be out so it'll be the "definitive" edition.

Everyone is aware we are talking about people playing the game and not actual sales right? I think some are mistakenly talking about sales.
If you mean me, the numbers i said are user numbers not sales. I just mentioned sales because obviously you need to sell a game to get people playing it lol.

Youd probably only notice if you're trying to collect everything during the game. If you leave it till late in the game then you probably have all the upgrades you need already

Master Chief Collection got 160k. Age doesn’t really factor in IMO.
And Halo Infinite got 185k.

To be honest i am not to surprised, Everyone who wanted to play GoW has probably already played it. Old ports never do as well as there initial launch, I bet if it launched on PC the same time as PS4 it would be 100k+

I know the MCC were remasters of old games too, so all I can think of is that PC players are not as fussed about GoW. I always thought the game was a bit overrated.

There are big launches on PC lets not pretend otherwise. Cyberpunk did more than a million, fallout 4 half a million and monster hunter world did 350k to name a few.

Now if you're telling me God of War peaking at half the players of games such as Outriders and Kingdom Come Deliverance is a good result I'm not sure what to say to that.

I think Halo Infinite was 285k but that’s a free to play game, I don’t think the campaign was tracked separately. I’d be surprised if it did as well as GoW though.

Again the old port thing is being overblown. Many people on Steam won’t have a PS4 or 5. I don’t think 50k is bad, but considering it’s Sony’s tent pole PS4 game and it hasn’t even come close to other old console ports like Sea of Thieves it’s probably fair to say that it’s just done ‘OK’ for a game of its stature.

I never said it was a good result, i even said it was less than i expected. I predicted 50-60k in a different thread.
I'm saying its at the level of standard multiplatform game launch on Steam. And check throughout the year and you will see that.
Cyberpunk was the most hyped release in recent years, and Fallout is well Fallout, one of the biggest franchises in ga,ming. They were also brand new at that time, and not a 4 tear old console port. GOW is not a big PC release.

How did i predict 50-60k in the other thread?, fluke?.
People just need to keep expectation in check and look at the circumstances.

Agree here. Its surprising considering how good the port is by Sony, its reviews, and the fact that its not a full priced game. Consider that a game that's been out since 2013 in Project Zomboid and just came out of early access, had a peak player count of over 48, 000 over the last 24 hours. There are LOTS of people who haven't played the game and only have a PC. I'm still not convinced we won't see sales surpass a poor HZD port on day one. I think many people still haven't started it. If not, its definitely a bit of a surprise.

Pretty much expected. Sony isn't going to get any major hit with their single player games on PC. If it wasn't an old port it'd probably only got a 20K or 30K boost at best. It's why I still don't believe they're ever going to do day one launches

We're not going to see a Sony game with 100K+ concurrent players on PC until they start releasing their multiplayer stuff.

I would take into consideration the fact that this is an older game being sold at full price. Personally, I love this game, by I am waiting for a sale. I can wait until June. :)

Yeah, it actually seems sony exclusives do well on PC

Horizon ZD sold and estimated 3.67 mill

GOW will probably do better.

The release timing was shit. They released it, during work time in the US. If I hadnt had covid, I would have started the game 2 hour from now.

I think you’re misreading the estimations.

Playtracker estimate that there’s between 1.3m and 1.4m owners.

Steamspy estimate that there’s between 1m and 2m owners.

Finally based on reviews there could be anywhere between 1.3m and 3.6m owners.

Thats just review based, and they are not even doing it right (its supposed to x50 -x100 reviews, depending on how positive the reviews are)
Steam Spy is more accurate and has HZD at 1-2mil, and its probably closer to 2mil as we know from the Days Gone sales tweets that it sold roughly 1mil on Steam, and HZD has done better, and been out longer.

I'd expect GOW to sell in the 2-3mil range.

That would mean $90m for Sony, at 30$ average sale. That is alot of money for a port game, that was in 2017.

Dont you need to own the game, to review it?

timing is important. If they did around evening, that game would had 100k by now. 50k at 1pm at my time, and now 40k. That is 90k players.
It doesnt work like that, and its the same situation for every game released. Steam has different peak hours throughout the day. Look at Halo Infinite, it has 3-4 times as many pleyers at peak US hours as it does for most of the day.
Every game is under the same circumstances.

Halo had its peak, during night time in the US. It was 256k during night time. When it got released, it was around 50k,, and climbing.

I find it funny how top reviews is talking about Bloodborne.
Why Sony didnt put it on PC already? seems to me like a stupid decision, the game is 7 years old and the demand for it on upgraded version is high, it will make good extra money.

Yeah so Halo's peak for the day was 256k, or whater it was (i think its was closetr to 280k).
It will be the same for GOW, if its users go up in peak US hours, it will get a new peak count for the day.
You cant just add numbers together from different times of the day lol.

It's not a bad number, but we'll have to see how it progresses.

There are indie games that have similar numbers, but consistently, and much higher peaks (see Project Zomboid for instance which is like 8 years old?) with massively smaller budgets and much less visual glitz simply because they have more interesting and engaging gameplay. And mind you, I'm not saying that God of War is not interesting or engaging (I personally love it, even if more for the story and the acting), but it likely stands out less from that point of view.

If it grows from this point, then the initial number is good. If it declines as the people who finish it and stop playing are more than the people who pick it up, then for an AAA first-party game, the initial number would be pretty mediocre.

Man...

Who decided these sales estimations methods on these sites?

Horizon zD has 51k reviews on steam, why do these websites think 20-55x that number of people have brought the game?

Just as guess, I would think about 20% of owners would review, so that would mean 250,000 sales, meh, i dont care anymore. Pc players play GoW if u want, dont if u dont.

Coming in lower than HZD is surprising. Maybe it’ll get a boost over the weekend. It’s a holiday on Monday too.

Bloodborne would be in the 100-200k range if/when that happens.

Some people dont review it.

I think the sales would depends on the keys. For pc games, we have 3rd party key sellers. Its hard to gauge actual copy sold.

There used to be one of these sites that had super accurate data, it ended up being locked behind a paywall (pretty sure it used to scan people accounts to see who owned said game, and obviously get a much more accurate number).
The data used to be free and open, and it was worked out out using this data that roughly 1 in 50 owners to 1 in 100 owners, will usually write a Steam review.
The better the game was, the closer to 100, the worse the game was, the closer to times 50 it was, due to human nature of talking about something thats negative.

Of course there was the odd exception, but using that guide would produce surprisingly accurate sales numbers for games. And today people still use that to at least get a ballpark figure for a game on Steam.
