There’s a $329 MSI RTX 3050 on newegg right now. I paid about $50 more for my Gigabyte gaming OC version a couple months ago in a shuffle, so the prices are definitely coming down.

You really want the 3050 and 6600 to be in that mainstream pricing bracket to signal a healthy PC gaming future. They’re not quite there yet, but we’re moving in the right direction. Actual MSRP would do it.

That EVGA page has a ton of products at near retail pricing. Though prices are going down at the time when the market hits a drop anyways. Only difference is that there is rejoicing for the pricing dropping to retail... which is funny and sad at the same time. Anyways these evga cards seem fairly priced but most of them are 3080 12GB tier and up. The water cooler stuff is probably the best priced stuff.

Need to update my daughter's PC. She doesn't need the absolute latest, greatest card but something to last a few years.

I'd like a 6800, non XT, or 3070. Those would do fine.

If you're jumping at the chance to buy a $1000 - $1300 3080, why didn't you just buy one 2 years ago? $1000 3080's were readily available for like the first 4-6 months. You're paying a stupid premium for a now vintage card 2 years late.

If a 3090 is not able to play a current game at 4k resolution with a reasonable frame rate... Yeah, the game's optimization is highly questionable.

i don't game a lot so this might just be what i've noticed, and not sure what elden ring uses as it's engine but it seems that the unity engine in general has issues with 4k at 60fps and above.

Not really. I have been looking to buy a 3080 for the last 1.5 years and was never able to find it anywhere for anything below $1,500.

And no, I would never buy a $1,300 3080. Only thinking at getting this $1,000 one because it has 12 GB. It only gives a 3 fps boost, but might be more future proof than the 10 GB version.

This is good news. I'm still doing okay with my 2070 TI. You can tell it wasn't meant to play current gen stuff in 4k though, and the fans get LOUD when I really push it, despite the performance being ok in-game. Maybe I just need better cooling.

Anyways, my next upgrade will be to a 10GB card, so 3080 or above, but I'm not spending more than 800, so I still have to wait a while for them to come down.

I plan on waiting for the 4 series for a new build and whatever vr headset is the best in the near future. Hopefully holidays. I think we might see a GPU price "crash" We might be experiencing a giant overestimation of demand due to crypto crash thus flooding the used and new market. Well see what etherium does. But things are looking up for pc gaming finally.

Got this today from Microcenter. They have price match guarantee for the first month so i figured I can always get them to price match it if it drops lower or return it for a cheaper 3080 model if it becomes available in a month. Really want that $800 one.

Upgraded from my 2080. Amazing performance. Almost double in every game except for Cyberpunk which only got a 60-70% boost. Was running it at 40 fps using Pscyho RT lighting at 1440p dlss quality, but jumping to 4k dlss quality only gets me 30 fps. might have to downgrade some settings, but my god 1440p dlss is so blurry in this game compared to 4k.

Matrix went from 13-18 fps to around 40-48 in native 4k. Very impressive gains. Is it worth a thousand in 2022? I dont think so, but the UE5 performance gives me hope that this card will last a good 3 years like my 2080 did.

I don't know dude. I wasn't aware that people had the power to predict the future and would have known that it would a year and a half for GPUs to become available for better prices than the crazy prices.

It always amazes me that people can ask questions like this, when... with a little bit of thinking... most would figure out that the world is very different now than it was in Sep. of 2020.

And as others have pointed out, the 10GB cards are still hard to come by, which were the cards with the MSRP of $699. The 12GB cards never had an MSRP. $1000 is still expensive, but it's at least with a light year of being close to where MSRP "should" be.

for me i think the $200 premium is enough for me to just bite. in sad CDN dollars after tax I paid 1447 (1147 USD). It's a lot but i kind of also have saved a lot of money for this build for the past couple of months. Also the 10GBs were going for the same price here just yesterday as the price I bought the 12GB today. Which I tehcnically got a bit cheaper. So I don't mind paying for the extra two gigs lol. i've still got like like a grand left i can spend with the money i saved specifially for the build.

The LGCX and C1 are an amazing TV for pc gaming. Games look so good on the big oled screen and gsync is a life saver. Enjoy!

Doesn't have anything to do with predicting the future, either you were willing to pay $1000+ for this level of performance or you weren't. You guys decided you were not a year and a half ago, but now that the mfgs and retailers have normalized batshit prices, you've decided you are. I'm just pointing out you lost nearly 2 years use and relevancy for nothing, only to pay an even more exorbitant price premium when they're about to be discontinued. In a typical market the 12GBs would be $699 or less (to fluff up sales as the series is aging and nearing replacement) while the 10GBs would be $599 or less. See the Super series and 1080 memory upgrade for examples of how this is supposed to work. "Gamers" have only themselves to blame for all the predatory practices in the medium, no convictions.

You weren't looking too hard, $1000 was the "scalper price" from around Oct '20 through at least Jan/Feb '21. You could also buy the prescalped models like the $900 - $1000 MSI Suprim directly from retailers with relatively little fanfare. Prices didn't go to the literal moon until around Q2/Q3 of '21.

I'm excited though. Still on a 1080p display. Been wanting to jump into next gen and the LG OLEDs seemed like a real upgrade. I've never actually experience 100fps so it'll be an interesting jump.

Seems like you got yourself something solid right there. There is no "MSRP" for the 12GB since it was introduced that way purposely to take advantage of the market. So people assume that the MSRP is somewhere from 900-1000. Lots of people are viewing them as overpriced 3080s so I think they are sitting more often because of that. In a way they are that but they are still an improvement(albeit minor) over the original 3080.

Bought my 6800 xt a couple of months after launch and it hurt but it is what it is. I also sold my 2080 during that time frame so the transaction hurt far less. Recently made some other upgrades to my system and I am beyond pleased with my computer at the moment. Therefore, I want to just be happy for all of those that can experience this level of gaming regardless of where you are at in this and hopefully those prices keep dropping for everyone.
