I think I can see it - sanitized GTA for the american masses. Stripped of all sexual depiction and intenduo. Mass murder is still fine though. Everyone 7 and up. Can we squeeze pay 2 win into this thing? Mobile, yes. Console, 70$ fine.

Man, if South Park can get away with things, GTA should have the power to as well. It'd be a huge shame if changes were made in an attempt to appease folks that would complain. But, didn't need to happen in the first place cause they would've been fine regardless because it's GTA.

This trilogy has a ton of questions marks all around it. I really don't know what to expect.

I’ll sure what they’re actually referring to is terrain deformation, fully destructible buildings, burnout-esque damage modelling effects, upgraded weather systems, upgraded physics, ray-tracing, improved particle effects, improved drive and flight models, massive increases to NPC density, NPC scheduling, and volumetric clouds.

I can't find any images of what I'm talking about before it got censored but I demand they put the pasties back on the bimbo in the cutscene of the first Steve Scott mission found in copies of the black label PS2 version. They covered her tits up more by the time they rolled out the Double Pack version. I never understood why the fuck they even censored that shit in the first place, lol. It feels like time-travelers from the late 2010s/early 2020s swooped in and were like "Nope. That's too revealing, change it now."

rockstar will probably remove Candy Suxxx and replace her with a Caitlin Jenner clone.
I'd be surprised if they even have include any of the Steve Scott missions at this point.

People overreacting without even knowing what will change is hilarious and some get angry when called snowflakes. Oh, the hyperbole never ends.

Problem is, they won't tell you what changed upfront. They will expect you to shell out your $60 upfront to buy the game and then surprise you with the trojan horse of wokeness later on.

No offence, but I think you're being too naive about this.

Not only that, but, uh.... GTA's whole cultural appeal is a mostly unfiltered look at the deepest, darkest, most depraved and evil aspects of American society in video game form. There should be alarm bells ringing off at even the slightest hint of censorship that's more extreme than "tone down the excess tiddy, we don't want this labeled as porn."

If it becomes too far into the political correctness and inoffensive, then I'm out. That was the whole allure to the series to begin with.

Do you think Rockstar don't know what the internet is? That people won't be curating a detailed list of changes from the moment this thing is available?

The irony is assuming that people won't just, y'know, wait - like 90% of the people in this thread. I'm not saying it's not going to be something but some of the premature reverse-pearl-clutching is crazy. In reality it's more likely that they're just updating some of the really outdated controls and the report took something out of context. We'll see.

If they just wanted to update the controls or add quickwarps or something, they'd have quickly thrown the term "Quality of life improvements" out there to nip this in the bud before it came to this point in speculation. That term is in common usage by now. They're smart enough to know what they're saying and how their audience is going to interpret it.

Are you implying this story is based on anything Rockstar themselves have stated..? It's a Gematsu article with a throwaway line about what they've heard with no additional comment, not part of the Rockstar PR.

I mean, if we're gonna be arguing about whether or not Gematsu is effectively just making stuff up, then the whole argument is moot. That said, Gematsu isn't one of the old "censored name game journalism sites" on here, so it's not like I'm up to immediately dismiss their word without knowing of prior times they started blowing out hot water. Otherwise, I would assume they're professional enough that even with a "non-confirmed leak", they'd be more careful about their vocabulary.

My point was more that I thought you thought this was Rockstar giving Gematsu a direct quote or something, maybe not then, but to me "content changes for modern audiences" is very intentionally incredibly vague because Gematsu have no idea what the changes actually are, so they've covering all bases. Then people on the other end of the woke horseshoe got prematurely riled up about things that they don't know exist yet. It's weird.

Considering the games in question, even this would be a completely unnecessary change bordering on censorship.

Why does this matter?

Your argument was that we shouldn't react until we know what the content of the changes will be. Since we won't know until the game is released, the ONLY thing we can do at this time is speculate.

And the language used here to describe the justification for changes is pretty leading as to what those changes will eventually be.

The irony is assuming that people won't just, y'know, wait - like 90% of the people in this thread. Eh?!?

"We're updating the content for more modern audiences" and you think what is most likely is changes to the controls...?!?!?

I don't even.

You're being disingenuous to serve an untenable point.

This language is a known quantity. It's updating the narrative and script content to better appeal to the modern political zeitgeist. There's nothing vague about it.

If you want to pretend that something well known and understood isn't so. You go ahead and continue in your willful ignorance, but don't try to accuse the rest of us of knee-jerk reactions and pearl-clutching when we know gotdamned well what the wording of that phrase means.

Aight. We'll see whether Rockstar went out of their way to "update the narrative to better appeal to the modern political zeitgeist" in their $60 cash grab port or whether Gematsu just heard a rumour and printed it with a vague sentiment.

The old versions will always exist, so the thin skinned purists can access them.
eh.... None of the good versions were ever on pc. PC always got the terrible versions with missing graphical features.
So yeah. The original good versions exist just as well as original star wars does... on some grimy tapes not in hd

Just use re3 and reVC, they're the perfected pc versions with all the graphic effects restored OHWAIT Rockstar took that down.

Yeah it's a pain in the ass. I have steam version (and disc version but dont have the drive for years lol) and I started reading some 2 years ago... all in all, I spend like 3 evening reading up on versions, ports, mods, patches, fixes.... like omg. And then it's still not as good as on ps2.
Same will happen to gta 4. That game best version is on xbox 360 I swear. 4xmsaa, proper depth of field, proper deep contrast and proper dithered shadows. On pc, All these years I couldn't get gta 4 perfect.... and now it's even more work with rockstar launcher, removed music and so on. They will never port it like it was on 360 or ps3.
Other games get lucky like Uncharted trilogy. Bluepoint saved it with amazing 1080p60 remasters. It's not lost to ps3

Just saying, I haven't seen a report of a single line of dialogue missing or being altered (Vice City is haitian friendly but that was censored back in 2004 or 5). Same with radio stations, all the conversations are there.
