Ah, okay. I was under the impression that the reviews were going up and down based on changes being made to the game from players who had already bought it but that is quite interesting that it is going up and down so much simply based on new players, which I did not think was the case, and so my question but I guess that is clearly happening.

It's only the "recent reviews"(last 30 days)

What would you guys say is best to work on first?

I am level 9 currently and still figuring a lot of stuff out. Making progress on the standard warbond, but wondering which other warbonds are good to go for, which have the best value for what you get?

I also see people giving thumbs up emotes and stuff in game, how do I do that? My guy only ever does the salute, and I’d generally don’t use a mic but would like to communicate with other on my team beyond just leaving pings at locations.

When it comes to samples on the maps is there a way to highlight them? I feel like they are somewhat hard to find, until I get really close. Just trying to unlock more stuff for my ship.

Finally, any other starting out tips would be welcome, feel like there’s so much to learn lol I’m drowning

I would just focus on the initial free warbond. It has 10 pages pages of really solid gear. The Breaker shotgun is great. Arrowhead has done a pretty good job balancing the weapons, so there isn't a major disadvantage if you only have access to the first war bond. If I remember, the next 2 warbonds are really solid as well. The ones after are pretty hit or miss

By level 25, you unlock pretty much of all of the strategems. Orbital Laser, 380 and 120 orbitals, and Eagle strikes are ones to unlock as soon as possible. Napalm strike is good for bugs

Samples are only located on mission objectives and treasure sites located on the map. There is no way to highlight them

No real tips, just try and remain close to teammates when you start out. Team killing happens, it's part of the game. 99% of the time everybody is cool about it

The free warbound. It has some of the best weapons and variety as well.

You unlock different emotes through warbounds.

No. Also do keep in mind that all resources are shared between every player. If a teammates extracts with 12 samples, you also get 12 samples.

Just go for strategm or weapons you think are fun. Almost every one of them are viable. Also, keep in mind that you do not get exp or anything for killing enemies. Just focus on main and side objectives. Enemies are just a distraction

If you are ever near the extract while playing the mission, dropping off your samples can save you a lot of headaches.

For bugs, priotise hunters and stalkers over every other enemy.

For boys, the shield devastators( the one who have a machine gun) and jumpers are the ones who take priority.

Huge jump in concurrent players on Steam. Went from 19k to 133k. Currently at 115k. Obviously this will drop as people chew up what's new but it was a big bump.

The Illuminate took my squad by surprise. We're figuring them out but we got our boy oysters hammered the first couple rounds.

Helldivers is genuinely one of my favourite games of all time, put a few thousand hours into it over the years, mostly against the illuminate as they were the best to fight against.

Now they are zombies...yay

Man, we need this so badly...

Yeah and lets not forget these scum bags advertised for months cross progression across PS5 - PC, alot of us double dipped hoping it would be patched soon after launch.

Guess what, never came, dont think its ever coming and they have completely got away with it.

Sony had a really good night, better than most had probably anticipated.

Black Myth Wukong and FF7 Rebirth had varying degrees of success, but both are console exclusives adding to Sony's portfolio.

Astro Bot and Helldivers 2 cleaned up tonight, but there have been boosts to Stellar Blade and Destiny 2 as well.

Throw in the potential that they'll own Elden Ring soon...

Yeah, that pisses me off as well, I wanted to buy it and move to PC but didn't because of that. Honestly, I just want the performance mode to look sharper.

Did they ever updated Anti aliasing to remove jaggies? I remember playing this game when it came out and seeing lots of jaggies in the ship

I've yet to jump in, but extremely good first reactions to new enemy faction, urban areas, and vehicle. Should be the content drop to reinvigorate the game

Just checked. It's been more than 7 months since the game had this many people playing on Steam. The boost this new update gave the game is wild. Now we see how long it stretches and if the baseline is higher once it settles again.

so, played some of the new Illuminate missions and tested a few different load outs against them. Spear is pretty bad on the Harvesters since it takes like 4 shots back to back to kill one. that also made the Quasar useless too. Guard Dog Rover is good to have for the Voteless zombies. while I had not test Auto Cannon yet, the Auto Cannon sentry and Rocket Sentry are definitely putting in work and very useful overall. the landed UFOs that act as their spawn (ie bot factory or bug hole) can be destroy with some orbital barrage, be it the 130 or 380, if they're grouped up. I also tested using a Gas Strike on them and it's surprisingly effective, one shoting them if you throw it right on one. and Arc Thrower can basically clear everything if you have someone to watch your 6. and it seems those armors that reduce the Arc damage you received would be pretty handy since these damn squids has quite a few Arc attacks between the close Arc attacks of the Watcher, Harvester and their version of those Tesla rods.

Played with a couple friends last night against the Illuminates. We had no clue what to run, so we decided 'Fuck it, we'll just run what works consistently against bugs and bots.' As it turns out, Auto Cannon was not the play lol. Too imprecise.

Second run went much better. We all ran varied loadouts but we favored plasma weapons. Considering how much we were running and gunning, I decided on the classic Sickle. I picked the laser Rover backpack too. Both of these were solid decisions. I ran with the AMR for my primary as I felt I still needed power, just something with more precision to hit those flying humanoid assholes. Seemed to work ok? Maybe there's a better option.

All of us ran Orbital Laser. In retrospect, seemed overkill. I think the laser pierces through Illuminates' shields entirely, so it's great at taking down bases. Really don't need more than two people on the team with Orbital Laser imo.

I'm still running med pistol as my sidearm as it's busted good. Also, on our first Illuminate run, one of my friends ran Tesla tower. 4 team kills with that damn thing.

Same. We found the rover and laser weapons work very well. We all ran orbital laser just in case. Came in a lot of handy to stagger our uses of it but we found that by the end of most runs we all had charges left. I ran gatling turret and autocannon turret. I was always much higher in kills because of it. Gatling mowed down the zombies and those irritating flying bastards. Autocannon has a hell of a range, so it helped pegged things from far away. At this point we're pretty used to the Illuminate tactics up to Hard. We're going to kick it up tonight.

I still hate those short duration missions that ask you to take out like 10 different objectives but on a much shorter timer. On the plus side, last night was the first time any of us did the defense mission with the gates. That was fun, except the one retard who thought it was a good idea to do orbital bombardments right on a location we're trying to defend. Good times lol

My friends were talking about running gatling turret for next time too. Not sure I agree on the auto cannon turret. The only big targets are the shielded walkers. Railcannon strike/rocket pods seem to do the trick (as usual).

Man the new enemies the Illuminate, are so much harder then killing bugs lol

Shit is getting hairy every mission. I’ve been having a blast. Teamed up with some people online and they had they new vehicle, it was madness, hanging out the window shooting zombies lol
Though I wish you could order orbital strikes while in the car and just drop the beacon behind you.

it's really a case of finding what works for your play style I feel. I've been running Gas Strike, 380mm, Arc Thrower and Auto Cannon Sentry. slap on arc resist armor, Sickle and Senator with Gas Grenades and I've been handling things just fine for most of the new missions. only defend missions I would go with heavy healer armor with Gas Strike, Tesla, the new manned Auto Cannon Sentry and the Commando. both work great for my style.

I've seen folks going with Heavy Machine Gun and Supply Pack with 500KG and whatever else they like to run and it worked great too. just a matter of finding your groove with the setup you like.

we actually did it! we push the Illuminate back for now. I went to make dinner with about 2 hours left on the order and it was looking close. but by the time I'm back it's actually finished. no more Illuminate missions for now and we're back to bugs and bots. but the FRV jeep will be ours to call down soon. I ran some bot missions and it was pretty smooth with some divers running the Anit Tank Emplacement. should be fun to see the actual force of the squids and not just their scouts in the future.

Not yet since there is a nasty bug where many users (including myself) get absolutely no audio in the game at all. Apparently it's a bug with the system audio set to Dolby Atmos (wasn't there before this latest patch). They need to fix this ASAP.

I did my part, played a bit last night and showed those squids what freedom means

Thinking of jumping back into the game. I haven't played it in a while so not sure what the current state of the loadouts are. Can folks here chime in please?

What are the weapons, stratagems, and loadouts that are generally considered the best after recent buffs/debuffs?
