Holy shit, Dragon's dogma is incredible

Gay porn is where it's at.
said fuck it few days ago and grabbed it on steam
been playing none stop for the past three days and it's been a damn blast, this has to be the best Combat in an RPG ever right? i don't even know how i'll get back to souls games after this
also, absolutely love the pawn system lol, i could see myself playing this for a long time
the plot is extremely interseting too so far
the only thing i wish for is the world to be more open, other than that, this is so good

Check back in a week or two. It has amazing combat, character creator, and pawn system but most everything else is mediocre. It was pretty easy for me to go back to Souls. The honeymoon period is pretty great with DD and I can't wait for the next one that is hopefully more fleshed out. It isn't a masterpiece, and they did go wrong with their first outing.

And don't listen to this dude he doesn't like any video games
Being more critical and not blinded by everything one likes =/= not liking games. Its so boring to say wow a game is so perfect so awesome, like srsly? There is no such thing. Everything is flawed, that is the nature of all things. I have criticized even my favorite games of all time. I can spend hours telling you about the negatives of Witcher 3 or Divinity Original Sin 2. People should know about the negatives more than positives. Let them discover the good things, and warn them about the not so good things.

Don't listen to any negative opinions in this thread they're all wrong and dumb

I'll bite.

The goddamn map. It's just confusing to me how the journal works with it.

Other than that

I do love the pawn chatter too. Battles feel and look the way you picture a D&D fight going more than anything else I can think of. Being able to grapple smaller enemies to skewer them or jumping on the back of a Chimera or Dragon is so awesome. Part 2 with some more love should be insane. I have a lot of faith in Capcom lately.

It is brilliant. Once it clicks its unique. And Dark Arisen is even better, do that after the main game which is rather easy once you know it and feels like a training episode. If you ask me, Dark Arisen blows Souls out of the water.

As for a Pawn, I had a utilitarian black mage. And she was great. She would cast the right spells on mobs I could finish off swiftly.

Good combat system (a bit clunky imo) and smart pawn system, the rest was mediocre at best imo.

Probably one of the game in vg history with the most gigantic margin of improvement for a sequel.

man here's hoping one comes

wait dark arisen is a different game from dragons dogma? I just bought dark arisen on steam, that was the only dragons dogma I could find

I think it was confirmed. Old boy who wore the Resident Evil 2 shirt to confirm the remake wore a Dragon's Dogma 2 shirt to confirm it.

Anyway, for anyone picking this up on PC I recommend some mods. This one gives unlimited sprint(no mount makes it a must), 10k carry limit, and 1.6 higher jump(for easier exploring and jumping on dragon's etc) https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/69?tab=files

Nah, it's the same game, Dark Arisen just adds an expansion and different title music which many didn't like as much.

No, dark arisen is a large expansion, but was also sold as a full new package, it's the only version ever releases on pc.

Tears of Nintendo
One of the best games of X360/PS3 era. Still boggles the mind that no one to this day copied pawn system and ability to grab and climb on huge enemies, bosses and kill them that way (I'm looking at you, From!:lollipop_pouting:).

I think the sequel is already confirmed.

Bless you both for the good news

I'm really looking forward to the sequel. DD did a lot of unique and innovative things, but also had its fair share of rough spots.

Would it be worth jumping in now (PlayStation)
Or wait for the sequel?

Jump in now! The game is almost always on sale for dirt cheap and it is definitely worth playing.

One of the best games ever. Flawed for sure, but it's also so unique and fun to play that I'm wondering why nobody else has tried replicating the same formula.

Glad you are enjoying it! It's one of my favorite games, flawed in some areas for sure but the core gameplay is the most fun I've had with an ARPG.

The thing with this game is that it got rushed and released while missing more than half of the stuff they had planned for it.
That's the reason why you'll see many fans of the game rootting for a sequel, which thank God was already confirmed to be ein development.

Also yeah, the world could be bigger, but the nice thing is that it has 0 copy pasted content. I like it, feels like an adventure rather than a theme park like most open world games do.

Yeah it does feel like a tutorial lol. Game's a bit easy, and Dark Arisen is just what the game needs: a big end-game dungeon with new enemies and an actual challenge.

My next playthough is going to be my first one on hard mode, and I'm kinda scared of Bitterblack Isle. :goog_relieved:

Jump now. It got re-released on PS4 so that version should run pretty nice.
Aside from being locked at 30fps, apparently. If you want 60, play on PC, game is well optimized and doesn't need a great computer.

you can run through the main story in less than an hour.
wtf, how? just doing the quests leading up to Gran Soren can take much more than that.

Bless you both for the good news
Trust Itsuno, he has a plan for all of us.

Not really, you can oneshot most things quite easily on subsequent playthroughs, the hydra and griffin literally take seconds to beat with everfall gear, and if you have your warp stones set up correctly, you'd just be moving from story trigger to story trigger. (like having to go to the magic tower to face of with the griffin, just have a warp set right before the tower, and kill the griffin on a minute).

Edit:
also forget about hard mode, it sucks it just makes enemies insane damage sponges.

Oh, you meant New Game +! Sorry man, thought you were spaking of a normal gameplay.

Is there any reason for going to NG+ instead of just starting a new character? That's what I always do.

Dragon's Dogma is discounted to 4,99€ atm on psn (and Dragon's Crown to 5,99€, showed as one of the search results), I never finished it on ps3 (too many games!), and now I'm nostalgic.
Great... now I need to add 10€ to my wallet and get both, while I have about 12 game in backlog.
Stop making threads that make me spend money people!

Dragon's Crown is amazing man, you are doing the right thing.

The art, music and gameplay are just top tier. Only thing about the game is that it's kinda easy and it's meant to be replayed a lot, since it's a mix of beat'em'up with a Diablo loot system.

there's no reason whatsoever to make a new character, I'm not sure you even can without deleting your current one (I know I had to make some backups on 360 when doing some testing).
The game is quite literally meant to be played again and again because - story spoilers - as seneschal says, it's an ever turning wheel and the arisen is the one who becomes the next seneschal, while your pawn receives your soul and becomes the new "you", if you keep the game offline the next time you face seneschal it will actually be you and your pawn as if you never used the godsbane to restart the cycle, signifying the unbreakable cycle of the world. if you are online it will be random other people's characters

Yep, it's one of the best. I still don't think people actually realize what's coming with DD2. RE Engine, 2 gens later with Capcom in their prime.

It's going to blow away Elden Ring.

Holy shit, didn't knew about that. Game's truly genious, and if they keep the same spirit for the sequel is going to be amazing.

It's almost as if they set that up as their goal. :goog_relieved:

How is the PS4 version of this? Is it a proper remaster?
Locked at 30fps. Aside from that, I think it's fine.

Yep. And everyone saw what Elden Ring sold, which means that Capcom will spare no expense funding the game because the potential is there for this to blow up. I have very high hopes.

Your optimism is making my day lol, and I sure hope you are right man.

If I'm not mistaken Itsuno has a lot of influence and "decision power" on Capcom nowadays, so it should be easy for him to use that incluence to be able to make his dream game at last.

Yep its from Hideaki Itsuno director of most Devil May Cry games, the combat is sublime specially for an open world game, the dungeons are pretty good as well.

However i have to agree it doesn't stand out in some things, the story and characters are paper thin, traversal is slow and annoying, menu managment a clunky mess, open world average etc. a sequel that improves on those issues would be incredible.

Normally i prefer linear action games though 😋

Tried on the ps4, couldn't pass the 30 fps ps3 shit graphics , maybe a remaster in the future for the ps5 if it ever comes ... will definitely try dd2 though

This game really shines on PC. Custom ENBs + 60fps.

I still like the original look of the game and have never tried one of those. But there's the option for those who like it.

I've tried it several times but I just can't get into it or even like it. Everything about the game is just so mediocre and it feels super dated to me. Not least in the graphics department, even on PC on max settings. I really, really can't see the appeal and I absolutely love the genre.

Back when W wbacon was still posting here before the game launched, I hounded him to tell the devs a save transfer would be great.
He then revealed to me that a modder actually reached out and was working on something.
Fluffyquack was that modder and shortly after the game went live, he released the save transfer tool; I troubleshooted some stuff with him because it wasn't loading pawn data correctly, but he managed to fix it quite quickly.
You can find the tool here:
