Sadly as much as I enjoyed insurgency... Sandstorm has been forced to course correct multiple times by its user base.

Essentially about 6 months ago they tried to move the game in the direction or Fortnite style cosmetics while at the same time focusing almost exclusively on adding niche Chinese weaponry, that focus on the Chinese audience still seems to be be current direction, which is confusing when you think that this is esentially about PMC's in the middle East vs terroists.

They where planning to add these until a huge community backlash from those who want to play something more authentic (as this trailer constantly states), the Chinese weapons just feel weird and out of place as there rare outside of Asia never mind in the middle East outside of the obvious AK rip offs.

The game has been horrifically unoptimized every other release, with the Dev's forcibly lowering the entire texture of the game just so mid range PC's could get above 30 with decent settings... it will be interesting to see how this preforms on console.

I'm under NDA but I don't think it would be harmful of me to say that I didn't have any issues with performance.

In saying that, as much as I enjoy Insurgency, I may grab Hell Let Loose instead just because I would like a WW2 shooter that doesn't suck.

Lol fuck this game. I remember waiting for the Feb 2018 (i think) release date. Obviously it was far from done. Only way I'll play it now is free.

I loved the first Insurgency. A great tactical game, with great map desing and solid game mechanics.
But Sandstorm is a worse game, much worse. Map design is almost bad. There's a heavy tonemapping that makes some maps extremely brown, to the point of hurting gameplay.
Suppression is overused. Soldiers can only run a few dozen meters before becoming tired and then aiming goes to shit. And this makes camping much more effective than attacking.

I bought this, day one on Steam, thinking I was getting an improved Insurgency. Instead, I got a brown turd with a ton of performance issues.

Same here ..no issues with performance. And same exact idea about HLL.

First, we want to thank each of you for working patiently with our community and support teams as we work through some launch issues. Those of you who took the time to report bugs and locate problems have really helped us to speed ahead with fixing!

If you have an open ticket with support, please continue to give us time. We read each ticket and will get back to you soon.

These patch notes are for both Xbox and PlayStation platforms. As of the time of this post (Oct. 7, 2021) the patch is live on PSN for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. We expect the Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S patch to go live next week.

RESOLVED ISSUES

  • Game crashes that have been affecting all consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 4 Slim, and PlayStation 5).
    • Note: we have disabled 4K on PS4 Pro and PS5 as a temporary measure while we continue to look for a more permanent fix.
  • Year 1, Year 2, DLC, and purchased cosmetics unlocking issues should be solved for some players.
  • Fixed the toggle optic / lean bug.
  • Fixed an issue where loadout and cosmetic presets would get wiped after a map change or game restart.
  • Fixed an issue where the Red Dark weapon skin would not appear on the character on the Main Menu after being selected or equipped via Customization or Loadout selection.
  • Fixed an issue where the Warlord Gold-Plated AKM weapon skin was missing from the Loadout Menu.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting the Peacemaker and Universal Digital weapon skins in the Loadout Menu would not equip the weapon skin.
  • Fixed an issue where the weapon sway while ADSing was missing.
  • Fixed some visual issues related to smoke.
  • Fixed multiple issues related to mistranslated text or unlocalized text
  • Fixes issues related to Call Vote.
  • In-game store can now be accessed from the Customise menu.
  • Now able to open the Region Preferences menu while in queue for a game.
  • Tell West map added to Firefight mode.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Bugs related to Prone positioning.
  • Colour settings not saving.
  • Gore animations missing.
  • Lack of audio effects on guns.
  • Missing textures, low res graphics.
  • Ragdoll death occurring instead of full animations.
  • Voice chat cutting out.

This game mode is absolutely amazing. Tense and difficult makes the game even more fun to play. I wish this was permanent and not temporal.

the game still looks fuzzy on the ps5 compared to the Series X
this needs a proper next gen version

It's coming in the future, but I don't mind how it looks right now. On series X looks very crisp at 4k and solid 60 fps.

Any impressions on this? Seems like nobody is playing it. Considering how bad the cod and Battlefield betas were, I want to give it a spin.

May try to rent it

It’s great if you don’t mind your shooters to be a bit more realistic. You typically die in 1-3 shots depending on the gun and armour being worn. Loads of people are playing so you’ll never be short of a game. Coop modes are awesome too!

Much more tactical fps than whats out. Insurgents vs moden soldiers in smaller scale urban firefights. Expect very low Ttk, customization of modern weapons, team damage, room clearing etc. I will agree with others it needs a proper next gen version tho. Textures can be lower quality and there are some bugs. It runs terribly on the last gen consoles. But i have fun with it for what it is.

Thanks for the insight. Definitely sounds like something I'd like. Hopefully they can get that patched to improve textures.

Going to try and get my hands on it.

So I ended up buying this since my gameshare friend wanted it.

Definitely not great looking but I really liked what I played. Game has a Socom 2/3 feel to it for me

Yea brings back old socom2 and Graw vibes on it. The COOP mode is super fun as well. It can look alot better. The Pc version looks great and has high resolution textures. The game was originally supposed to drop for last gen consoles back in 2019. Its also missing crossplay which is another gripe of mine. Lets hope when they have a true current gen version we can get it looking similar and up to par.

I would recommend checking it out at the very least. As a Socom fan, it definitely scratches the tactical shooter inch. Never had any problems finding a game on Series X.

Yea my only gripe is the visuals are bad. And I'm not one to really complain about visuals. But besides that, this is great. Kills are so satisfying in this.

This badly needs to be on PLUS/Games with Gold or Now/Gamepass to keep the community alive.

I don't really see this dying. But I don't ever see it doing cod/Battlefield numbers. Its made for a niche crowd. There's nothing like it from what I've played. So I expect it to keep its niche fanbase awhile depending on how post launch support is.

Precisely..if youre playing this is because its not COD or Battlefield. Post launch support will make or break it.

I remember when I really enjoyed playing this even if it ran like ass on my high end machine ever other update. However they misstepped far too many times sadly.

I find my fix in Hell let Loose for my tactical shooter needs. I do very occasionally return to this for the coop, but the AI pisses me off due to its ability to act retarded but then suddenly perfectly headshot you with a pistol 2 miles away through a tiny a hole in the wall as you sprint past.

The original I defintly remember being better than sandstorm.
