Is it really all that surprising? What video game sequels have earned more views/interest than their original product?

I'd imagine watching a demo is a poor indicator to actual sales. I played the first game and I had fun. I didn't watch someone take the red bar away from the enemies, sort through a menu, or enter a building for a mission.
