I’m sorry but I think your recollection is a little off there. From what I remember he said there was going to be a massive announcement the next day, and then he said ‘haha only joking’ the day after.

It was the day before the end of year for Sony I think and if there was a big announcement they would have to make it public. That's what he banked on if something happened but he put a disclaimer about 10 minutes later.

I have no issue with wanting to believe. If this was an intentional leak by Xbox then it's doing more harm than good.

Announce a show a few days ahead of the event and leak nothing. Allow people to be surprised. This would hit harder if it came out of the blue.
