Does it need to be immediate, or can I go in a few days.. IM at school 100 miles from my doctor, and with major homework this week, The earliest it makes sense to go home is this weekend.. or Even Monday after my exam. ( so I can study all weekend)Yep, hemorrhoids or fissure. Good news is you'll be fine. Bad news is that you still need to go to the doctor. ...Go.
You gave your body time enough to heal the wound. Really small cuts or openings in your anus can feel like hell, so I can see why your doctor looked at you, gave you some antibiotics, and told you to go home.

Oh, you can wait, but don't wait too long; if it's hemorrhoids, it could get worse if untreated. It could potentially heal itself, but I won't recommend you take that chance, honestly.Does it need to be immediate, or can I go in a few days.. Just make an appointment. I assume you're under 40 years old; this is not an emergency and you'll just be wasting money going anywhere but a regular clinic.Should I call a doctor, or wait and see if it happens again?
Are there many likely benign reasons, or is it usually an indicator that there could be a significant problem?
This guy, on the other hand, is more worrisome in my opinion. Abdominal pain with GI bleeding should be checked out.I've had this for about a month. Only when wiping too.
Additionally I've had really bad abdominal pain. Upper right and sometimes left sides.
Went to see a GI doctor and she wants to do a colonoscopy and upper-scope(?). Only problem is I can't afford either right now (even with insurance).
I'm just hoping it's nothing serious. My understanding is that roids and fissures shouldn't include stomach pains.
I wash my hands frequently and am in pretty good physical shape. I drink plenty of water everyday. However, there was a significant amount of blood in my stool when I just went to the bathroom. This is the first time it has ever happened to me, so it is somewhat unnerving.
It was red/ pink in the water.

Dark blood or bright red?
No he doesn't. He needs a simple examination in a clinic room, first. Probably a 95% chance of diagnosing his problem right there without more expensive tests. You need a colonoscopy just to make sure.
Just regular red( a blob in the water) then it became light pink as it spread out
Blood in shit
Go on GAF
Makes sense, first thing I'd do.
It wasn't together with the stool? Was more like a drop out of your ass? (lol)
Did you see the toilet paper after you wiped?
Just regular red( a blob in the water) then it became light pink as it spread out
Yeah, I didn't see any in the stool its self. yeah there was some on the toilet paper.
It's the middle of the night (for me anyway) do you expect him to call his doctor and drive over right now?
Call the morgue, reserve a spot.
I don't think he needs to go to the emergency room tonight. He's obviously stable. He can call his clinic in the morning and set up an appointment.Go to a doctor. Do not rely on message board posters for a diagnosis or advice on the timing of your visit.

One of the most important things you must learn is how to make a decision. Especially on matters of your health.
Well, he is getting some advice that is letting him know that he shouldn't panic considering the info given. It's not dark red, it's not in the stool itself. So those two are huge points to help him relax a bit.
Most are still telling him to see a doc anyway.

Exactly.
OP you don't have jack shit to worry about in my opinion so be at ease. With that said you should have a doc tell you himself that it's a hemorrhoid or an anal fissure.
I've dealt with heavy dark and tarry bled stools from my CD, with pain that can be described as that of having a knife in your gut, etc.
Thankfully all I had was Crohn's and not you know what.. I know it can be scary to see blood in your toilet bowl because I saw that shit for many years, nearly daily. :|
I'm glad mercaptopurine (6-MP) has kicked the shit outta my CD though. 1 pill a day for life but with no major long term consequences from what I understand. I'm all normal now.

Thanks for the reassurances guys.
I beg to differ.
Unless he's got enormous hemorrhoids protruding straight out his asshole, he'll need an internal examination.
My doctor took all of 2 seconds looking at my ass and said there were no external roids showing so we had to go deeper and he ordered the colonoscopy about 2 minutes after walking in the room.
I'm getting that 95% figure given his symptoms and his presumably young age. And you are incorrect with that last phrase, especially if OP is a young guy.Edit: yes, he needs to see a doctor first. That kind of goes without saying. You don't just walk into a hospital and order a colonoscopy for yourself. But I don't know where you get that 95% being figured out in his office, because if nothing is sticking out his ass, then a colonoscopy will most definitely be ordered by the doc.
Anal fissure.

Your age or family history may have been a factor in that recommendation.
Most doctors will perform anoscopy/proctoscopy with a disposable plastic scope right in the clinic room before going forward with a test using a $20,000 tool plus conscious sedation if hemorrhoids is a likely diagnosis.
A plastic anoscope will easily identify a large internal hemorrhoid.
As in an obstruction or as in a diverticular bleed? There's only one real indication a gastroenterologist is going to scope him in the middle of the night and he ain't got it.
So your doctor went straight to a colonoscopy before trying a proctoscope or rigid sigmoidoscopy? Either he was not suspecting hemorrhoids or maybe your doctor should read up on the current standards of medical care and go back to his textbooks.Maybe you should call my doctor and tell him how to do his procedures because he did none of that. I'm only only 37 with no family history and he knocked me out and did a colonoscopy to find internal roids.
Variceal bleeding, usually esophageal. As in an obstruction or as in a diverticular bleed?
