Legend of Dragoon May be Coming to PS Plus Premium Classics Collection

Players are getting their hopes up that The Legend of Dragoon may soon be coming to the PS Plus Premium Classics collection after a mysterious retweet from ex-Sony Interactive Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida. Others are hoping for a remake of the revered RPG, something for which fans have been petitioning over the past few years.

Back in 2019, one of The Legend of Dragoon’s original composers, Dennis Martin, celebrated the game’s 20th anniversary with a tweet about the “amazing team” and how he still holds “great memories” about the development process. More than two years later, Yoshida randomly retweeted the original post with no additional comments, as spotted by Reddit. While retweets from that account are far from unusual, they’re rarely more than several hours old — certainly not two years old, anyway. As such, players hope this is a sly nod to a project with which Yoshida is involved at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

There are two reasons for which the game would get a sly nod via a retweet: either a remaster of the original The Legend of Dragoon game or for the title to join PS Plus Premium soon. The latter is the most likely scenario, especially as more PlayStation classics are being added to PS Plus every month. We’re yet to hear which games will be added this month, although it will probably be next week before we get that news.

A remake is also possible, especially as remake rumors have been around for a couple of years. Bluepoint Games’ Head of Technology, Peter Dalton, once made a comment about The Legend of Dragoon being a possible remake project for the studio, but nothing more has been said in the two years since that comment. Only time will tell whether anything comes of the mysterious retweet. Of course, it could also just be something completely innocent seeing as Yoshida was also the game’s producer.

I expected this from the classic line up. As in a lack of games being released…..

How hard is it for a multi billion dollar company to add PS1/PSP/PS2 games monthly to the store/subscription service?

I mean the PS3 done it and it was at there lowest point. How hard is it to do it again for the PS4/PS5?

Just bloody add a couple PS1/PSP/PS2 games monthly or drop it, why do it half arsed when its not that hard to do it properly and has been done before properly.
There are some seriously dumb people in charge of Playstation

Please for the love of all that is holy, let me at least play the game on a modern console upscaled and such.

Better yet just let shu team up with bluepoint, and remake this classic. I'm sick of Sony not doing anything with this IP, since it's one of the most iconic among their original ps1 hits.

Just do something with it. I don't understand how a game with as loyal a fan base as LoD can get literally zero love from Sony. Could be the easiest buck they ever made, and scratch an old school jrpg itch that many playstation fans have been missing. Sheesh.

I think Yoshida thought it was nice to see that the composer has good memories 20 years later of a game produced by Yoshida, so he retweeted it (btw he got mentioned by the composer).

I don't see any connection at all to this game being included in PS Plus Premium or even emulated for PS4 and PS5, or to make a remake of this game. There have been no rumors about this game being remade,, and we know for a fact that Bluepoint isn't working on a remake but instead of in "original content".

Yoshida now runs the team where Sony supports (3rd party, not Sony published) indies. He doesn't work in PS Studios anymore, and doesn't work in whatever team they emulate or decide which games get emulated or included in PS Plus.

The ps1 is known for having one of the best jrpg line up of all time… the ps plus classic line up has not been doing it justice at all so far

That really doesn't mean anything, but TLOD is a first-party title so it'll eventually be added to PSN. We'll see tomorrow if it's for this month.
