Let's discuss about a problematic and less discussed section in CoD: Vanguard Campaign (No major spoilers)

Alright, so there's a section in the campaign where we the player are introduced to a few black soldiers who save us from getting tortured by hostile forces. One of the black NPC soldiers is the one who carries around a flame thrower weapon. Within 10-15 minutes after introducing this character, the game's story is written in a way where this black soldier gets shot dead only for the player(us) to pick up his flame thrower. But here's the problem, this flame thrower does absolutely nothing in regards to story/gameplay progression. You can switch to any other weapon and still continue to progress in the story/campaign mission. So tell me again, why was this scene written this way? This scene could've been written in so many different ways but apparently, the writing team felt "hey let's kill off this black character that we've just introduced so that the white soldier story character controlled by the player could pick up the flame thrower which absolutely does nothing for story/gameplay mission progression.
