Experiencing your games from the comfort of a couch, on a gigantic screen, is always a delight. But if you’re playing via PC, it’s a given that you’ll encounter screen tearing or VSync input lag, because almost all TVs lack the Variable Refresh Rate technology that prevents these problems.
Here at NVIDIA, we always endeavor to bring PC gamers the very best gaming experiences, and that includes being able to enjoy smooth, tear-free, responsive gaming on all types of displays. So, to help big-screen gamers get monitor-style smoothness, we’ve joined forces with LG to deliver G-SYNC Compatible support to 5 of their industry-leading 2019 4K OLED TVs.
“It’s no secret LG OLED TVs are coveted by gamers world over and we are committed to optimizing the OLED gaming experience for them,” Sam Kim, senior vice president of the TV product planning division of Home Entertainment company at LG. “With NVIDIA G-SYNC adoption, we are showing that OLED TVs have the support and backing of the world’s top gaming hardware brand to make their products look their best.”

LG E9 and C9 models, ranging in size from 55 to 75-inches, will receive G-SYNC Compatible firmware updates later this year. Simultaneously, we’ll release a new GeForce Game Ready Driver, enabling GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX 16-Series gamers to connect their PCs via HDMI to validated G-SYNC Compatible LG TVs.
With everything updated, geared-up gamers will experience smooth, stutter-free, tear-free gaming, with superior OLED clarity and color reproduction, and with HDR10 color, contrast and brightness in compatible games. Additionally, LG has their own technologies that further improve response times, pixel display times, and other aspects of each TV, giving their customers smoother, clearer gaming on PC and other platforms.

If you don’t own a LG TV, but do own a display or TV that only supports Variable Refresh Rates via HDMI, you can try enabling HDMI VRR when the aforementioned driver is released. As these displays and TVs haven’t yet been through our comprehensive validation process, we can’t guarantee VRR will work, or work without issue.
Be assured though, we will be testing current and future Variable Refresh Rate HDMI displays, and will be working with manufacturers like LG to bring flawless out-of-the-box G-SYNC Compatible support to their big-screen TVs, so more GeForce gamers can enjoy smooth gameplay from the comfort of their couch.

As a new C9 owner this is awesome, but it seems it will only be the 20 and 16 series GPUS and not include the 10 series. A little disappointing as a 1080 ti owner.

Likely spells the end of the BFGD lineup, TBH. The manufacturers may still bring them to market since a fair number are likely completed at this point, but the instant NVIDIA announced Freesync it left those partners out to dry.

Overall an excellent development for the coming generation. Perfect frames is a massive upgrade in user experience (my heart aches for you Bloodborne).

Hmm, a 55in C9 would be a real temptation if it gets any kind of decent discounts come Black Friday...

Awesome news.
Unfortunately these televisions do not support
multi-channel LPCM using eARC. As long as that is the case
this feature is useless for people that want to use a surround-speaker layout.

Nevertheless, good to see that they are adding G-Sync support.
