Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Sells Most On PS5 In UK Physical Game Chart

People are surprised by this? Many XBOX gamers won't buy it because they'll wait for it to come to GamePass. Games that perform poorly and more likely to come to GP as developers and publishers look to recoup their cash or make profit.

Not enough tho, which is a fucking shame. This game is a serious goty material and the biggest surprise release in years. So... fucking... good

I couldn't disagree more. I played about four hours with a friend. It has the GOTG name and characters but it has none of the personality from the film's and to be honest the characters don't feel like they have any personality at all with the exception of Rocket. For me, the game falls flat on its face with something bad to counter act everything good in the game.

LOL you couldnt be more wrong. The characters in the game has way more flashed out personalities than the movie.

This is proof that you didn't play it and are just trolling.

I'm waiting for this to drop price, hopefully under £30 by Christmas.

Seems like there is literally no hype or excitement surrounding this game at all (& I like gotg and the look of this game)

But I'm already swamped in games to play, so no point me dropping full price to play a couple months later anyway, when it is cheaper.

Maybe play more. The characters in this game are amazing

I will next time I see my friend. He's Marvel obsessed. So far this is very 7/10 though. Not GOTY material for me. But the characters just have no enthusiasm. I haven't read the comments but they don't seem to give off the atmosphere and liveliness that the movies give off. Mind you I thought as much in that trailer where star lord pretends to have a heart attack.

I thought for some reason this was by the people who made the Avengers game that came to Gamepass.

I didn't like the laggy feel of that game and I was going to post here that Xbox gamers mightn't want more garbage but it's a different dev apparently... so Avengers damaged the image of this game for me - unfairly as it happens.

Why do I always see these threads about games selling most on playstation?

Surely nobody cares?

It's almost like it's breaking news.

I'm other news, water is wet.

Game pass is going to kill game sales on the XBOX platform. These threads are more proof of that. Digital sales may still bring in enough business but I know many, many, many people who just think "Meh. I'll wait till it comes to game pass." on so many games. This being one of them because the memory of avengers is fresh in everybody's mind.

So because of 19% of last gen owners, we decided to punish 81% of next gen owners. Such a pro-consumer move.
Punish... :lollipop_thescream:

The 18% of Xbox sales include last gen sales.
Damn, thats pretty bad but it makes sense. Almost 40% of xbox sales are XSS and they cant buy physical.

Still, even if the last gen and current gen split is 50:50, thats 70% of next gen sales vs only 30% of last gen sales. This will only increase next year when more and more cross gen games come out.

I know this is a UK thread but in NA, the split between the all digital xss and x1x versions is 38 and 62. That means almost 40% of xbox owners cant buy the physical copy even if they wanted to. That is whats skewing the numbers a bit.

Not that I disagree with your gamepass assessment (I personally am waiting for it to come to gamepass lol) but there are other factors in play here. If only 5 out of the 8.3 million console sales are physical, that means the PS5 which has sold over 10 million units is enjoying at minimum a 2:1 lead over the xsx when it comes to physical ownership. Of course you are going to see a large 2:1 sales gap between the two consoles.

I'll buy it when it's £20. I'm surprised it's gotten such good reception after NPCs were down on it for not being GotG 2.5.

I tire of quips and Capeshit bullshit but if it really does break away from the MCU and do its own thing then I'll gladly play it at the very least.

Actually Xbox includes Xbox One owner sales too.

But I get your point… all games should be actual gen from this point already.

Bit surprised with the percentage splits.

Considering the strong hardware sales of XSX would expect them to be a lot closer than that.

But the reality is there is a massive disparity in sales.

Xbox has two high profile games coming (one a week away), recently had Back 4 Blood launch day 1 on Game Pass and has had a lot of Xbox/PC exclusive games launch over the past two months, so are probably more inclined to wait for Black Friday or Christmas sales to pick up a third party title like GotG which, in all honestly, looked pretty average in preview and very reminiscent to the exceedingly average The Avengers.

I’m interested in this game but there’s no reason whatsoever to buy it day one when it will be half price (and, who knows, maybe even patched) after Christmas.

Do we know there has been strong XSX sales in UK. It seems rarely in stock and restocks happen less frequently than the PS5. In the UK the XSS is constantly in stock.

The xGreens need to buy this game now to prove to daddy Phil that single-player cinematic games can sell.

It's very good with great production values. Surprise GOTY contender 😁

It's a bit weird to say strong when Microsoft just can't produce/deliver enough Xbox's to the UK.

Now I am trying to remember when the halo series x drops. 2 weeks.

Do we have any digi-numbers? Why are the publishers even bothering with an xbox physical copy? Seesm to be "usus" going forward (in uk). But without any digi-numbers, numbers from other EU countries it´s hard to draw a picture.

Not really, only ubisoft as far as I can tell shares digital numbers per platform.

Shocking news. Console with biggest install base sells most copies.

Out of all the pointless things to console war over, physical game sales in uk of right up there with who shipped with the longest usb cable in terms of importance.
I think getting triggered by facts and entering sales threads just to accuse others of console warring says more about you than anything else.

Also, the PS5 does not have the biggest install base. That would be the PS4 where it only sold 19%.

This is the second Square Enix game based on Marvel IP after last year's The Avengers. Compared to that game, launch sales are 58% lower for Guardians.

Its a shame that the better game sold less than The Avengers which was a bad game to say the least.

Oh and the trend continues with the huge split for Playstation. It will be more one sided once more PS5s becomes available to satisfy the insane demand and once Gamepass becomes more popular on the Xbox side with people waiting for games to come to the service instead of purchasing them.

It's a good sample size. Only one available at the moment and able to see quite a big disparity.

I like to make sense of it by picturing two houses - both have been on fire.

In the aftermath one looks relatively healthy and the other looks anything but.

No outside observers know the true extent of the damage so are forming opinions on what can be seen.

No harm in that.
