Cyber Sleuth coming for that crown.

The highest debut for the most hyped Digimon game ever? Seems so.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Good god the PS4 dragon quest doesn't have legs at all. Below god eater on both chains.
If it's confirmed in actual charts and it's really that low...Knack will probably remain the best selling PS4 game in Japan, right? ;_;

Is this the most hyped Digimon game ever?

Would you care to enlighten us about the level of hype of previous games? Seems like you are an expert and could tell us how well or bad marketed the previous games were.

Thanks.

I saw a lot of anticipation for this game throughout Internet boards (both Western and Japanese ones). On GAF, the game has a quite popular OT (for the Japanese release), a first for the series; and also received a lot of attention with news topics. As for NB marketing, well, the game was announced a long ago, and received a lot of coverage on magazines; AFAIK, the most for a Digimon game (though Re:digitize got a lot of exposure as well). On DS, Digimon games went almost unnoticed, probably because they were shadowed by more important releases, even in the same sub-genre. This game, on the contrary, is getting a lot of attention, since it's the only one (or one of the few ones) on PSV in the monster-breeding type of game. Furthermore, preorders started strongly, unlike previous games. Then I might be wrong, and this is of course my impression, but if it's going to debut so high, it might also be because of some reasons, right? I'm not saying anything about the game or its performance, mind you.

Isnt it a bit low for FF Type-0? i know its a remake but it has the playable demo of FF XV? so i was expecting something like 250k

How much the FFXIII demo did for PS3?

Considering how DQ Heroes barely did that on PS4, 250K first week for a remaster + demo seems like way too much for PS4. I agree 100K seems a bit low, but 250K also seems high. I'd personally would have expecting somewhat over 100K, maybe 125-150K?

I was expecting around 200k LTD because Type-0 is a popular game in Japan (and got a nice wom over time), PS4 doesn't have much jRPGs, and also it includes the demo (ACC with FFXIII demo sold quite well). It seems the game didn't gather much attention though.

ACC sold around 60 000 units in its first week...so Type-0 looks to sell more than that (despite that selling over 100k is nothing to write home about)

Cyber Sleuth coming for that crown.

Look for Konami to make even fewer consumer games, as key staff behind the Tokimeki Memorial and Love Plus franchises have left the company: https://twitter.com/RyougaSaotome/status/577305368264474625 https://twitter.com/RyougaSaotome/status/577305613060812802

awww yis. 100k+ opening then? NB you know what to do, especially after that petition.

Ultimately its a remaster of a 4 years old game with FFXV demo. If it has an LTD between 150k-200k it should be fine.

Is the speculated disappointing performance of Type 0 + FF15 demo more due to Final Fantasy seeing a major decline in popularity besides mainline entries or PS4 beeing a failure in Japan so far, or rather a mix of both? Not sure if the comparison with a movie is that reasonable though.

ACC sold 100k or so on the first day iirc. I don't see Type-0 HD selling anywhere near as much in Japan.

Quoting the actual answer I dug up in the previous thread again:

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/23344/Japanese_Hardware_Advent_Children_Pushes_PS3_To_Top.php

Media Create tracked the first week sales at 274,774 (this only counts the LE copies bundled with the demo, including the PS3 hardware bundle), with the PS3 hardware jumping to 62,527.

Thanks.

ACC had the benefit of being a FFVII movie so it's hard to say how many of those buyers actually bought it for the XIII demo and how many of the PS3 buyers bought it to play said demo. Maybe they just needed a Blu-Ray player :p

Indeed. Type-0 HD was clearly made for Western markets, though, and there might be highly disappointing.

Since the original release didn´t even break the million mark, it means there must be many Final Fantasy fans that didn´t even experience the handheld games before and a multi-hour FF15 demo after so many years waiting for FFVersus should have been a really convincing addition to FF fans in my opinion.

Not too long ago we have seen a FFX/-2 remaster performing quite better, despite beeing a moreknown quantity to FF fans. Also on 3DS a quite less popular franchise like Zelda that often has been called to have become weak in Japan also had seen a good performance with the remake of Majoras Mask which is looking to end up selling 400k-550k when all is said and done. So I really don´t think the hypothetical 1st week sales of under 100k for Type0+FF15 Duscae wouldn´t be disappointing performance in Japa.

This might not be very comparable but the last year released so called MGS-demo also seems to have been more sought after, than the combination of Type0+FF15 Duscae demo.

Well, I think the comparison with Type-0 HD isn't that far off...

FFVIIAC came out on DVD in 2005 and sold over a million copies in Japan. FFVIIACC was released in 2009 with the FFXIII demo and sold 270k in the first week.

FF Type-0 came out on the PSP in 2011 and sold over 700k copies in Japan. FF Type-0 HD is getting released in 2015 with the FFXV demo and will sell....?

In both cases we're looking at a HD re-release of a non-HD title coming out 4 years after the original, and being packaged with a demo for the next numbered FF title. FFVII is definitely more popular than Type-0 though.

On the contrary. I think Type 0 HD will do very well in the West simple due to the FFXV demo.

Iirc KH HD opened at 250k in NPD, FFX HD around there as well. I expect Type 0 HD to be in line with those two.

Type-0 HD is a full priced game, isnt it? I think that will have an impact for those who are only, or mainly, interested in getting the FF15 demo. It was a much better entry price with the FF13 demo since it was included with a movie (which is cheaper).

I think it's 2 SKUs in Japan. And thanks, wondered if there was some sales correlation, despite the pts/sales ratio not being as useful as it was in the past.
I see. Seems that Japan wont get the Nightmare Edition. I cant find it on Amazon at least.

How much did the Gameboy games sell in the first week? But very nice that they managed to develope a game that is seems to be wanted and that the platform choice also can support such sales.

Yeah, I think the real test for Youkai Watch will be the gen transition, though it'll be interesting to see if the quick release of the 3rd version will have any impact on sales of the original version of YW3.

There's also that spin-off game, curious to see what they'll do with that.

The "spin off" just seems to be the multiplayer mode in YW2 expanded into a full game though. If they're being so cheap with creativity, I'm not sure why they wouldn't be cheap with platform as well.

Sorry, should've made myself clearer. I was thinking about the release dates.

1) YW3: July, spin-off: close to the 2nd movie?
2) YW3: close to the 2nd movie?, spin-off on July instead?
3) Something else?

Will the spin-off change their release schedule at all? Guess it all comes down to how "ambitious" (for lack of a better term) the spin-off is.

I wouldn't be surprised if the spin off will be a DL only title similar to Kirby Fighters Z.

While Battlefield will most likely be best seller of the month thanks to 4 versions across 8 SKUs, the PS4 version of Type O looks to have a really good debut. Xbox1 version though.... still not breaking into the top 100...

ACC had two skus, one with the FFXIII demo and one without. Duckroll's numbers are only for the demo bundled version I believe.
