Media Create Sales: Week 22, 2016 (May 30 - Jun 05)

Nothing has changed, One Piece Musou 2 had also a better second week hold and was close to second week sales of 1.

Media Create Sales: Week 10, 2012 (Mar 05 - Mar 11)

01./01. [PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.03.01} (¥7.800) - 90.133 / 745.907 (-86%)

Media Create Sales: Week 13, 2013 (Mar 25 - Mar 31)

04./02. [PS3] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 # <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.03.20} (¥7.800) - 56.457 / 331.082 (-79%)
11./05. [PSV] One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.03.20} (¥6.800) - 17.180 / 77.495 (-72%)

so One Piece Musou passed from 745k to 408k, while DQH from 680k to 480k.
so the math says that DQH actually is doing better than One Piece, maybe the Musou curse doesn't work so well with the Slimes

And it seems that it is going to had anime too right? Another multimedia project.

With this, how many are we having this year? Mh stories, YW 3, Poke Sun and Moon, Puzzle and Dragon and now this? Man, there sure is going to be some victim who will get Hero Bank'd or Gaist Crushed.^~^

Gyrozetter bombed so hard no one remembers it happened. lol

Unfortunately, I can see Appmon being DOA. What they've shown so far looks extremely derivative. I'm not sure kids are going to want to go with a Digimon spinoff over keeping on with Yo-Kai Watch, Pokemon, One Piece, (presumably) Inazuma Eleven, Snack World, P&D, Monster Strike, Monster Hunter, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dragon Ball, etc. There's a lot of big name competition for kids on 3DS.

The Musou curse says every new entry sees a massive drop comparing to previous entry and this didn't change.

In fact it goes LTD of sequel <= first week of prequel.

If and when there will be a DQHIII you can quote from now my prediction ~400k LTD.

Lol. And here, i actually own the game and watched some of the anime lol.( for the milf chara only though lol.^~^)

Really shows how scary is this multimedia market here.

Ohh yeah, Precure and Aikatsu is also currently fighting for the girl market there.

This year is really going to be brutal.TT

Star Fox outsold Bayo 2?

Idontwanttoliveonthisplanetanymore.jpg

Hey, SF is not that bad there. SF guard is much better vs SF zero for me though.^~^

500K is not a massive bomba?

Considering the graphics, maybe not? Maybe i just tampered my expectations so low due to the backlash and end up thinking, maybe 500k-700k is quite good already?

From Dengeki.

For 2016 so far the 3DS has moved more than 4m physical games, that's down from the 5m at the same time last year, though still the system that moves the most software.

WiiU has barely sold 100k more games than the PS3 in 2016, and will likely sell less for the whole year, after all the 10 year old console is getting more and bigger games.

01./01. [PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥7.800) - 43.640 / 228.460 (-76%)
02./02. [PSV] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥6.800) - 38.984 / 159.647 (-68%)
03./03. [PS3] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥6.800) - 24.742 / 93.117 (-64%)

Total: 481.224

Assuming an average of 55% drop

Third Week

481.224+48.3147 = 529.5387

It has a good chance of hitting 600k IMO and this is without the digital sales.

New interview with Level 5 CEO
http://trendy.nikkeibp.co.jp/atcl/column/16/032800001/060600006/

Main points of the interview:
- Wants to make all future Level 5 games support smartphones (even consumer games)
- The smartphone versions of these games will of course have to be a bit different from the consumer version
- Kids are moving on from 3ds -> smartphones
- 2016 is the year of Yokai Watch 3
- 2017 will be the year of many new beginnings

Curious to see mainline Yokai Watch's smartphone implementation.

Same for Ni no Kuni.

I take the last note to mean the Inazuma 11 reboot and Snack World are 2017. Maybe Ni no Kuni 2 as well.

DQH1 digital sales were irrelevant and that was a game with bigger first week sales and sell-through.

Digital won't show big improvement, if it shows improvement at all.
Are you saying that we should ignore all digital sales numbers?

Chris1964

Sales-Age Genius
Most digital sales only make up a small fraction of total sales. If DQH digital sales are irrelevant, then it should apply for other games too.

If that's your theory follow it, the reality is DQH digital were low for the average, lower than 10%.

It's not my "theory"; you're the one who said that it was irrelevant. Let's assume that DQH sold 750K (it's more than that) and digital sales are just 5%. That means it sold 37.5K copies digitally. Is 37.5K really a irrelevant number?

Sensible move by Hino. Actually, i would love this move to be done by more mobile company here. Producing one product for mobile and then another for dedicated hardware consumer.

Hortensia Saga would be my biggest hope here.TT

But, Hino must make sure here that one of the product won't botch the success of the another here as it is going to be extra risky with this moves.

Reading this, I guess Snack World will have different versions for 3DS and mobile. But also this implies that it won't be launched this year.
Also, I woudn't be surprised if the game went from 3DS to NX (like Fantasy Life DS => 3DS did on that time).

Yes, both Inazuma Eleven and Snack World will be on the next handheld at this point. It doesn't really make sense for them to re-launch an IP and launch a new one on an aging platform, which will be replaced next year.

Not to mention that this year is already pretty busy on the cross-media IP for kids front. I think we would have heard about IE or SW if they were launching this year.

Also, finally have confirmation the Super Mario Maker Premium Pack is indeed going to be discontinued. Page was updated on June 2nd, now there's a notice indicating production will end soon. Not sure how many units they have left in stock, but... most definitely very few.

Nintendo wants to sell Wii U at the higher price possible.
Still, Super Mario Maker Set should be available one or two months more before is officially discontinued.

Btw, could you please post your Mario & Sonic comparison chart when you have the time for it?

If you don't mind, wait until next week. For the moment the comparison hasn't changed since the last time, but it might change next week if it increases again.
Maybe the reason of these small increases is the Wii U version releasing in a few weeks, marketing for this version could be afecting positively the 3DS version too.

Level 5 has confirmed they're very happy with Yokai Watch PuniPuni/Wibble Wobble, saying they're "astounded" by its success.

This is the mobile game that's basically a fusion of Disney Tsum Tsum and Pokemon Shuffle.

After releasing their smartphone app Yo-kai Watch PuniPuni [Wibble Wobble in the West], Hino and the company has been astounded by its success. Level-5 will focus more on smartphone compatibility, and Hino even goes on to mention that he hopes to see all future titles from the company be compatible with smartphone, meaning he wants all future console titles have a way to be played via smartphone. Hino expects to have some kind of rule on how these console games will be carried onto smartphone, but he has realized that kids today are starting to play games on smartphone and felt a change in generation when looking back not so long ago when all the boys in first grade would only talk about the Nintendo 3DS. He feels that smartphone presence in the industry will only continue to grow.

2DS was never "continued" really, it was a one-off with the SE for Pokemon VC.
Yeah but it was just launched in February, so the news came to me as a bit of a surprise. Didn't expect to see it end this quickly, especially since it sold pretty well.

I don't think they ever made more than the initial allotment. It seemed like a one-off thing riding on the Pokemon VC games. Maybe they will do another with SM.

The reason why 2DS isn't tracked is because it was a limited edition just available at launch and never supplied again. Never a hardware has been tracked just for one sole shipment before (at least planned).
If 2DS had been available temporarily, for some months and receiving shipments continously during this time, they would've been tracked as a different model and stopped when no more units are been sold.

I do understand that. As I've said, I just didn't expect it to be gone in 3 months.

Level-5 doesn't strike me as a company that would leave a ton of money on the table.

It would of course be very wise to also release the game on NX for the future of the IP, but they won't say bye to a 20+ million user base for a 0 user base. Fantasy Life never had as much potential. They're aiming much higher with The Snack World.
