Fuck... I would apply for this in a heartbeat, if my portfolio and CV was ready - Travelling around the world for 3 months with no access to any files on my home PC, while my dream job of designing gaming hardware comes up is just bitterest.

Opportunities like this are few and far between, damn I would love to have a crack at this! It's one of the main reasons why I studied Industrial Design, to be immersed in this awesome technology and have the opportunity to design some cool shit for.consumers.

Microsoft will definitely push to see this generation cut short.

I doubt they will try to "shorten" it. They simply will try to opt out of a elongated gen like the last one. R&D + re-establishing a consumer base for a new platform is nothing to scoff @.

If Microsoft launched in 2017, it would mean XBone gets the same amount of life as the original XBox before 360 came out. If that happened, I would certainly not expect Sony to wait until 2019 to launch PS5.
