Microsoft recently announced that its mixed reality headset HoloLens 2 has officially landed in the Brazilian market. "This announcement underscores Microsoft's positioning to strengthen its investment in mixed reality technology," the company said. "The technology can be applied to new remote collaboration scenarios, allowing experts around the world to work together, thereby reducing costs and enhancing the industry. flexibility."

Microsoft initially released a new generation of HoloLens 2 in 2019, and it has successively launched markets in North America, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe. For Brazil, Microsoft is expected to gradually deploy other countries and regions in South America through this bridgehead.

Compared with the original device, HoloLens 2 has been fully optimized, and the hologram provided has been more vivid and realistic, which greatly enhances the sense of immersion. Microsoft managed to more than double the HoloLens 2's field of view (about 52 degrees diagonally), while reaching 47 pixels per viewing distance.

Microsoft also completely updated the way users interact with digital content, you can now "touch" holograms. Leveraging a new time-of-flight depth sensor, along with built-in AI and semantic understanding, HoloLens 2 allows you to directly manipulate holograms with natural, instinctive gestures. In addition to the optimization of the display engine and the direct operation of holograms, HoloLens 2 also incorporates eye-tracking sensors, allowing it to accurately track your two eyes and determine the specific point of gaze. At the same time, the device supports Windows Hello and iris recognition login, allowing multiple people to share the device easily, quickly and securely.

With a more balanced center of gravity, lightweight carbon fiber materials, and a new mechanism for wearing the device without readjustment, this series of optimizations has enhanced the comfort of HoloLens. In addition, Microsoft has improved thermal management with new vapor chamber technology, while at the same time addressing the wide range of physiological variations in head size and shape through long-term exploration and practical design. All in all, Microsoft believes that "the described features more than triple the measured comfort and ergonomics of the device".

Notably, mixed reality applications such as Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, Dynamics 365 Layout, and Dynamics 365 Guides all accelerate time-to-value. Meanwhile, Microsoft's ecosystem of mixed reality partners offers a broad range of HoloLens-based products that deliver value across a variety of industries and use cases.

Regarding the launch of the Brazilian market, Microsoft Brazil commented: "We want to help Brazilian customers do big things with a small amount of money. The combination of mixed reality and HoloLens 2 brings great possibilities, and we will continue to invest in helping to improve people's lives."

Microsoft has launched the Hololens 2 for Brazil. Really, really late. But now People in Brazil can buy it at an "affordable" price as Microsoft implies. But it won't be a small amount of money.

Still with HoloLens 3 still being worked on as MS reassured after their layoffs was still continuing, this seems like an odd move, unless they are going to push for a major price cut soon. For gamers, Hololens 2 (and Hololens in general) has games and media, so maybe this might be of interest if you want an enthusiast device. Otherwise, I expect mostly companies to buy this though they may wait for the Lens 3 at this point given it's been 4 years nearly since 2 launched.
