watched the original pet sematary as i seen it advertised on netflix. i had only saw the remake a couple years ago and of course i know the ramones song but that's it.

i was enjoying the movie but it got a bit silly plus i really hate movies with spooky kids. i burst out laughing when the little kid flew out the loft hatch. when the guy brought the kid back i could understand that but when he picked up his wife to go bury her i thought you fucking idiot. the final scene was good though. there were a few times in the movie that creeped me out. Church :messenger_smiling_hearts: i love cats and the scenes of when he was dead really upset me.

i can't remember much of the remake so might watch that again to compare them.

Part 2 is worth a watch as well.

I watched the 2 most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I am really pleasantly surprised.

When I saw the posters, I was shocked by the design of the turtles but in the end I love it. I like the bulky and massive look of them. It's a pretty good "realistic" design that perfectly fits a live action for me.

Movies are great fun. The Shredder's armor is ridiculous in the first movie but this is my only complaint.
It's much better in the second one but unfortunately he doesn't fight or does anything.

Love Krang design.

I had the same fun I had watching the animated series when I was a kid.

Watched CODA:

It was OK. It's a fun feel good movie with some heartwarming moments but it's also very predictable and cliché. I enjoyed it but other than employing deaf actors I really didn't get what was award worthy about it.

The Snowman (2017)

I didn't know this was based on a series of books, I just wanted to watch a crime thriller. It was good, not great. Slow moving but not boring. The four leads all did a great job (they all seem equally important to the story).

Every Scandinavian thriller I've seen has featured really brutal killings. This one is up there with some of the coldest.

last movie was morbius. The movie was just boring for the most part. The suppose to be epic last fight was just a blurred up mess. I kind of feel like it could have been something a bit better but at most it would have been just a basic late 90s early 2000s generic action hero movie. The ending after credits like scene were just weird and felt like they were added much much later. This feels more like a one done movie that should have been on netflix. Movie just irks me cause I feel like I could see how they could have made this a better movie. I'd give this movie a rating of C.

I always wanted to watch these movies. Huge fan of the original trilogy

Excellent film.

Remake is surprisingly good IMO.

Much, much, much better than I expected. I made a thread recently gushing about how much I love the remake:

I thought the original was bad and cheesy. The Remake I loved though

Watched 300 a few weeks ago, and then the 300 sequel last week. Both on NF.

First time watching them since they came out. The first 300 is shittier than I thought and had terrible grain effect which I hated. I guess I forgot about it. The 300 sequel is much better, but the ending sucked. It got rid of that grain effect too. Eva Green hot and horny as always in movies.

300: 6/10 based on pure meat head action movie
300 sequel: 7/10

Also watched greek myth movie Immortals weeks ago too on NF. Overall a shit movie. Weird plot holes, but some of the fights were slick.

5/10

I saw Fantastic Beast 3 in 4DX tonight.. It was better than the other two, I had a good time despite it's flaws. Even the gay Dumbledore stuff was done well.

last night i tried watching MacBeth (2015) but i was so lost and fell asleep. i could watch it again before the rental expires but can't be arsed. i much prefer the apple tv+ version The Tragedy of MacBeth. The only thing I liked about MacBeth was that they all had scottish accents instead of english/american.

i was meant to go see it on friday but was sick and got a refund. going to see The Northman on friday. don't really want to go see 2 movies in one day. i might go see Fantastic Beasts tomorrow.

what was the 4DX like? never been to that.

It adds an amusement park ride to the cinema experience. It can be distracting, especially the shaking, but I don't want to miss it.
Some effects depend on fans that can be rather loud. There was a very short rather quiet scene where it snowed on screen.. Or it would have been quiet if not for the fans revving up to blow fake snow out for 3 seconds...

Don't let go of your popcorn (or other light/small stuff, like a smartphone) because it can fly away if you don't hold on to it and just deposit it on your thighs, that happened to a child behind me..

Wrath of the Titans (2012)

Not as bad as I was expecting. I avoided it all these years because I disliked the first so much. But for what it is, which is pure popcorn fun, it's not bad. In fact the first half is pretty strong, though the disregard for telling a quality story (just like the first) began to wear on me as it went on. 2.5/5

Could happily just watch this movie for the rest of my life. Will never tire of it.

Incredible performances, super likeable cast. Funny and touching moments. John Hughes just got it.
I have still yet to sit through the movie. I've seen clips over the years, know it's a very nostalgic movie, but for whatever reason, I just haven't had the opportunity. If I see it on Prime, I'll try and check it out.

With these highly rated movies I'm sometimes like "ok, I see what others like about it but it's just not for me".
But with this one I'm at a loss, it's just a really slow, really boring movie that ultimately feels kinda pointless.

As dumb fun action movie yeah, I thought it was a lot better than the first one.
Also saw it years later because of how disappointing the original was.

Watched six of the eight episodes so far of Season 4 of Goliath. Holy shithe...

Billy-Bob-Thornton-Goliath-14952ff.jpg

This is actually the starting point for me with this series, as it's what was being advertised while perusing the Prime stuff. But I figured, fuck it, it probably doesn't matter. And I was right, I think. I'll definitely go back and watch the previous seasons, but so far, I was downright hooked, which is an irony not lost on me, considering the subject matter of this particular season. Much of its appeal seems to be in its ocular and aural expression. It's dark as fuck, but still somehow so inviting.

The writing, acting etc. are masterful, though episode 5 got a little tiring toward the end. But then right back up and running with episode six.

X is "online" now and well worth a watch for any horror / 70s exploitation fans. Ti West knows what he's doing and has a lot of fun playing around with what you did and didn't come to see in a movie like this. Everything is pretty much spot-on here, a great tribute to the a bygone era of Grindhouse.

kinda watched Voice from the stone (i think that's what it was called). the one with emelia clarke. after about 20 minutes i realised i had already seen it.

not sure what to watch next. i want to see that movie CODA on apple tv but need to sign up for it. i think there is a free trial though.

thanks :) i might check it out next time i go. still haven't been to see dumbledore yet.

your last sentence i skipped some of it and thought you meant that a child behind you flew away because of the fans spinning up :messenger_tears_of_joy: had to read it again

Caught The Northman last night, great for every single minute. Eggers is 3-for-3 for my money. Dunno where I rank it next to The Witch / Lighthouse, those are a bit tighter, but this was so good.

Very engrossing. John Cho puts on a hell of a performance. It does a very good job of keeping you guessing and watching until the end.

Fun fact.
They translated and recreated every single screen in other languages for the international markets. It's almost like redo the entire movie x times the number of translations.

Okay, so over the past few days, I've gone back and watched Seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 had heart, was a good story, though you can easily see from the tropes and cliche ingredients, the series was finding its feet, so to speak.

Season 2 was disgusting. It was a good story, horrifying as it is, with a realistic ending. But the storytelling itself was amateurish, in my opinion. Which is a dangerous thing, I think. It's like leaving a deadly weapon in the proximity of a child. Content like that should be handled by someone with great experience in storytelling.

Here's hoping Season 3 is better.

(Season 4, of course, was an excellent experience for me, and I'm sad that's where the series ends, evidently.)

Went and bought a bunch of random 3D movies and got American Mummy. Started watching it with my girlfriend and it's very amateurish and the acting is quite bad. About 10 minutes in a girl is taking a shower and a guy is watching her, and my gf says this is a porno. A couple of scenes later a girl and a guy start making out and she's topless and gf says this is definitely a porno. There are a few more scenes that are provocative and eventually we turned it off. Of course later I went back to finish it and it wasn't a porno,. although there is a character that looks quite similar to Ron Jeremy, it was just a very, very bad horror movie.

I pretty much put my regal unlimited to use today and watched Everything Everywhere All at Once, Sonic 2, and Fantastic Beasts : the secrets of Dumbledore.

First up is Everything Everywhere all at once. This was the best movie out of the bunch. It was weird, sad, comedic, touching, and had some nice action scenes. I really would like to see Michelle Yeoh in more sci-fi and weird action movies like this. I think though that her co-stars had more fun since they got to act as completely different people sometimes unlike her who just changed outfits. I'd give this movie a rating of A. I think the only thing that bothers me is that I don't remember the music in the movie.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was a decent film. I'd say it is weaker than the first though. I feel like their wasn't enough robotnik/Jim Carrey in the movie. Sonic is still a whiny kid but he also is still a kid in this movie. He gets to play as a big brother type character to tails which I thought was nice. Knuckles is amusing. The movie is okay for a family film and that is it. It pretty much is focused on the family for this film. The wedding part of the movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but I was expecting them to go a bit more bonkers in that scene. Sonic honestly seems slower in this film. I understand where they went with this film but I feel like it could have been done better especially with the action and speed scenes. I'd give this a rating of B. It Is your typical family film that has a bit of cringe mixed all over the movie. I still would like a change in the style of sonic characters and go full cg with no real life human characters.

Fantastic Beasts: the secrets of Dumbledore unfortunately was just kinda boring. It really feels like it is the worst directed of this series. They added more characters this time around and as a result they kinda weakened most of the original cast members. This movie had dumbledore as the main character but not really. He is only the main character when it is him interacting with Grindlewald(?). The movie was dark and dreary most of the time and sometimes it felt like it was so dark so that you couldn't clearly see the world. I haven't decided yet on how I feel about replacing Depp for this movie. Like this Grindle person is now more intense and charismatic and you really see the hints of relationship between him and dumbledore but Depp's felt more over the top and made the character more crazy and interesting but he lacked the hint of feelings between him and dumbledore from what I can vaguely remember. This movie lacks focus for the most part. They kinda switched up the main character, they failed to clearly show the reason why everything was going to grindlewalds way, and they spent the majority of the movie just going from one place to another whether by magic or just walking quite a bit. I'd give this movie a rating of C-. I kind of hope they change up the harry potter universe movies and maybe tell either a singular tale in a movie based off a child discovering the wonder of that universe and going to a different school or if they have to do a trilogy that tells a complete story with tons of character building. They can finish up this Fantastic Beasts series at a later time.

They could just title this
"Secretly Gay"

When I got to the end and saw that was the point of the movie....I just rolled my eyes.
