How so? Revenue is up, up and awayyyy.

Get it together and work on the personal afflictions you have.

The pigs might fly reference , don’t try and down play it.

As much as I would love that, buying Japanese companies will probably be a difficult proposition for MS.

Exceptions are cases like Tango which are under the Bethesda umbrella in the first place.

But anything can happen.
I stopped being fond of Japanese companies all together. Most of the hot shots make their games no different than western companies. But the worst thing is that they run their game divisions lake absolute shit. SEGA, SQUARE, KONAMI, what an absolute shit show.

The only respectable ones are like Bandai Namco, FROM (but they only make like one game. and published by bandai) and CAPCOM .

Bethesda was a Western corp when they bought Tangoworks
Money talks and its high time MS just got on with buying SEGA

So they are saying around 15 million for the Series consoles sales to date, that's actually above the VGChartz number posted recently by over a million and well ahead of the Xbox One 13 million in the same period.
So it is the fastest selling Xbox of all time by quite a margin.

I think that napkin math needs to be re-done

Also, that john welfare guy is incredibly biased so I’ll take his “estimates” with a huge grain of salt

Eh. After the xbox one generation, People didn’t expect Xbox to be competitive this generation. And in 2021, it did look like Microsoft was well behind in next gen stock production.

Add to that the expectation that Sony would have stock ready to launch with their major AAA games Horizon FW and GT7 and you can probably see where he’s coming from.

You really should be happy. A more competitive Xbox makes Sony better, and vice versa.
It's a bullshit statement.

There aren't any numbers to say 'people didn't expect them to close the gap so quickly', because Microsoft doesn't divulge them. Not to mention he's basically creating his own narrative.

No point talking about how people feel when there is no quantifiable basis for what he said.

Shipthrough vs seller through is one difference between the vgchartz and welfares guesses.

Will also be the same for the Sony numbers.

Also we can't judge anything as both consoles are supply constrained. We don't know what the gap would be if there was no shortages. At the moment it's pretty close due to manufacturing and supply.

These are the facts.

Spencer confirmed it in a recent interview,

"In a wide-ranging New York Times interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said Microsoft had "at this point... sold more of this generation of Xboxes, which is Xbox Series X and S, than we had any previous version of Xboxes."

So 15 million approx is probably pretty accurate based on all the evidence we have.

Quite the opposite if you need to know. I don't like this subscription/cloud future so it doesn't bother me that it isn't going nearly as well as people expected.
Seems it's going better than anyone expected with Game Pass doing wonders and Sony following suit by doubling down on subscriptions and internally calling Spartacus a "Game Pass competitor."

MS multiple times and Xbox fans. That was the excuse they came up to stop showing the numbers, but now that it suits them, for the briefest of moments, it became a relevant metric again.
Ah yes, the dirty Xbox fans, amirite? Sounds like you have a persecution complex and that's the real issue here. Microsoft didn't announce numbers, which you're crying about, yet at the same time complaining that they're now showing numbers because it suits them. Pick one, you can't have it both ways.
In Sony's reports, everything is literally painted down to a specific figure.
There are some abstract percentages in Microsoft reports.

Except you're intentionally leaving out the fact that Sony bundles things together all the time, and in the video game sector did so by combining PS2 and PS3 sales when next gen wasn't doing so hot. Then they started announcing numbers. I wonder why? FYI, MS doesn't announce numbers on any of their products, even the ones making them 17bil profit each year.

Not true at all; Sony bundles some things together in ways that obfuscate what the individual items sell/how they are performing. Sony also has many divisions and they don't all release the same level of detail.

What makes you think MS needs any excuses to not release numbers anyways? They are bound to investors; the figures they release literally exist for investors to digest and no other reasons.

If the numbers were insanely high, would MS change their mind? Maybe... but they still really don't need to nor are investors asking for it.

Only fanboys give 2 shits about this crap.

Bingo.

Except Microsoft used to.

Then things went less well for them and they decided to hide the numbers.

They took their ball and went home. OK fair enough, their preogative. But then you have a senior exec referencing VGChartz of all things 😁

Seems their investors and biggest company leadership are more than happy which is all that matters regarding numbers. And lol @ getting salty about Greenburg doing what he always does on Twitter. At this point if that still makes you mad then I say it's working as intended.

You're really triggered because I said was surprised they didn't release a GamePass sub number?

And getting giddy about profit of the whole company on a gaming-focused forum. That's a pretty pathetic outcome, but hey, whatever rocks your boat.

Didn't they announce numbers the past two January's? You're concerned surprised they didn't release numbers in April?

Wow so they are outselling the 360 by a considerable amount. With no RROD issue. That's really good. Loads of sales and more or less all of them going to users to be actually used instead of replacements.

I know the ps4 was an absolute phenomenon but how is the series consoles doing compared to that juggernaut launch? Launch dates compared?

Greenberg was supporting the notion that the X Series is outpacing the 360. Unless that is wrong there is nothing for him to correct.
A MS Employee Mr Greenberg quoted numbers.

A non Microsoft employee claims he was told numbers.

Who do we trust 🤔
Aaron isn't reiterating or corroborating the numbers, he's just thanking people for helping the brand become popular again after the XBO generation.

Sure he's not exactly the best person on twitter, but this is a case of no harm no foul.

What we do know is Xbox is doing better than ever.

My them taking NA prediction(that I got flak for) is looking more and more likely.

🙂

I think a lot of people are unaware how close Xbox One and PS4 were in sales in the US. It was something like 33 million to 28 million in favor of the PS4 in 2020. I think it's pretty likely that Xbox takes the lead in the US again like in the 360 gen.

Asking a legitimate question = getting mad according to the Xboys 💩

Yeah I'm surprised, in part because I haven't seen it stated anywhere that they will only update GamePass numbers in the month of January. Is that simple enough for you?

Btw VGChartz is a banned source, and Greenberg referring to it when his own company doesn't release number themselves...well if I need to explain this to you you're even more lost than your post suggests 😁

I think January makes sense after the holiday season, I'd expect the same next year when something as big as Starfield is factored in.

He was responding to a tweet about the success that Xbox is having. That's it, there's nothing else to it. It's so bizarre that some weirdos have jumped on it.

It was $35 wholesale price not retail so most likely higher end AAA releases. So it's not really the full catalog of games on the platform. This isn't comparable to Game pass and shouldn't be at the top tier of a sub service.
Like I said, everything above the indies price range.
It offers more games than gamepass, plus demos for AAA releases day one.
The top tier is retro, this is just the icing in the cake.

Charging for trials and demos isn't a good policy and I hope it doesn't take off. There is no guarantee any of these trials will be day one, it has to be within 3 months. I hope MS stays miles away from this policy and judging by how they are doing so far, they will.
