New to Souls games. What after Elden Ring?

So, I always thought I hated Souls games, but then I got gud with Elden Ring. And I really, really love Elden Ring.

Now I wanted to dip my toe into their other worlds. Where should I start? Some have recommended Bloodbourne as a great next game, and as a huge Castlevania mark, I think the setting and vibe look great.

Thoughts?

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Yeah go with Bloodborne, it's a different setting and while the gameplay is very similar, it has some different mechanics that will make it feel more fresh.

Dark Souls is basically the same as Elden Ring, just with no open world.

Sekiro is very cool too, but it's the most unique and might be too different if you want something like Elden Ring.

Bloodborne is imo the greatest game ever made, but it's so much different than elden ring. different gameplay, different setting, different world ect compared to the souls games
imo, i would play them in order
demon souls>dark souls 1>dark souls 3>sekiro, then finish up with cherry on top, bloodborne

Elden Ring is probably the easiest.

Try Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne and Sekiro can be punishing.

Dark Souls 2 is obviously inspiration for Elden Ring so if you like the setting/lore it'll be good to play that but it can be rough (the hate it gets is unfair though).

imo in terms of difficulty (easiest to hardest):

ER < DS3 < DS2 < DS1 < Sekiro < Bloodborne.

currently trying DS3 but I'm in this castle type area early on and can't figure out for the life of me how to proceed

I would probably try the older games first so the quality improves with each subsequent games. The combat tends to be better from one game to the next, Dark Souls II notwithstanding.

I would go in order:

Dark Souls Remastered>Dark Souls III>Bloodborne>Demon's Souls Remastered

If you had enough of knights and dragons, start with Bloodborne. This game is simply beautiful and the atmosphere and setting are just on a different level.

If you have a PS5, Demon's Souls Remastered is recent and beautiful. But if you think there is a chance that you will want to play them all (like you would for Resident evil series for example)
I would propose Dark Souls 1 Remastered. Solid PS4 visuals. Good game and the advantage of doing it first is that it will make Dark Souls 3 better when/if you got to it. Do them in chronological order is the simplest way.

Of the ones I have played, Sekiro if you want something different, Dark Souls 3 if you want a game thats basically one big legacy dungeon.

I havent beaten bloodborne due to no ps4 but I LOVED the bit that I did play.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Is everything ok? 😂

Want something similar although more linear and with somewhat dated graphics and combat but still full of awesome content and a similar design philosophy? Go for Dark Souls 1
Would you rather have something that feels a bit more up to date in terms of visuals and combat but still has many of the strengths of DS1? Go for Dark Souls 3
Want something with better graphics and historically significant albeit very linear, a bit dated and with "meh" bosses? Go for Demon Souls Remake
Want something with a similar design philosophy, one of the best setting in gaming, fast combat that entourages aggressive gameplay although a bit more limited in build variety? Go for Bloodborne (if you don't mind 30fps with drops)
Want something a bit different, with awesome but very different combat focused on parrying, almost no loot/equipment but great bosses, awesome FROM style level design with a lot of verticality and the best final boss ever? Go for Sekiro

Why are people even listing Sekiro? It's not a Soulsborne game.

Also, Demon's Souls is by far the easiest.

Because it's still a FROM game with a lot of similarities to the Souls games in regards to design philosophy

In my opinion there is not a single bad game from FROM in their Souls repertoire. Not even Dark Souls II. Every game is phenomenal. Especially Bloodborne and Dark Souls III. You are in for one hell of an incredible gaming ride.

Do Bloodborne, then skip Dark Souls Trilogy completely as they are all inferior to Elden Ring and instead play Nioh II as it has better combat mechanics.

P.S. You have to be a Japanophile to enjoy Sekiro.

As great as all the games are you will be burnt the fuck out if you go this route.

Go with the GOAT Bloodborne. If you want more go with Demons Souls remake after and then start with Dark Souls 1 and beyond. Every game is great and playable.

Demon souls is my favourite. It’s pretty different too.

As for everyone saying elden ring is easy… wtf am I doing wrong? I’m having a real hard time.

Dark Souls 1 and 3 are the more close to Elden Ring... Dark Souls 2 is just bad but it is still a good game if you can overlook the flaws.. Demons Souls remake is a classic
Bloodborne is just the best but with the awful framepace/framerate dont know about playing it right now
Sekiro is my favorite but it is a very different experience and the harder one

That been said, Elden Ring is souls light slapped in an open world, by any means expect the same level of easiness and help you get on Elden Ring to beat bosses in the other games, BUT, for me they are all better games them elden ring, because of that ..

In elden ring you dont have to get good, you just get help from the 50000 choices From put it in the game and balanced (or unbalanced) for it, in other souls especially sekiro you HAVE to get good to keep going

Exactly. I was subtlety insinuating to be prepared for the ELITE SOULSBORNE crowd to show up with their soul intention, no pun intended, to mention their best Soulsborne game while disregarding the context of your inquiry.

So quoting me as if I wasn't aware of your intentions saddens me.

Go play Sekiro..

i honestly think the souls games are one of the ultra rarity that you just can't get burn out from no matter how much you play
once it clicks, it fucking CLICKS
that's just me tho so maybe you're right

It's not weird at all. When you play racing games without assists and such it clicks.

I had maybe 150-200 hours in DkS1, 200+ in DkS2, but for some reason I stopped playing 3. I'm installing again, I've never even played the DLC. Probably around 300 hours in Bloodborne. Steam says 101 hours in Elden Ring but I was very burnt out towards the end of ER, I beat pretty much everything and never have played since.

Most of my experiences are I play til I'm burnt out. Like if I just dropped 200 hours into part 1 I don't think I'd be ready for part 2 back to back, even though it was amazing. The formula to me gets just a bit repetitive if you're trying to just play the fuck out of them for several months. I definitely wouldn't mind dedicating 3-4 months towards Souls and Souls-likes every year that being said.

My advice would be to not play all of them in one period, that will make you burn out quickly on the later titles you choose to play.
With that said, i would personally recommend this route for you.
Demon's Souls Remake --> Dark Souls 3 --> Bloodborne --> Dark Souls Remastered --> Sekiro --> Dark Souls 2

I played Bloodborne for the first time after Elden Ring (had played previous souls) and the game was sadly a breeze until the very last boss of the DLC, the enemies in their newer games are just different A.I wise (tracking, movement, damage and whatnot). But the aesthetics and beauty was really nice.

Sekiro if you want a completely different experience, DS1/DS2/DS3 if you want more ER but more linear and tight, Bloodborne if you want to play souls in Birmingham.

Sekiro! Playing it right now on my Series X and I'm having a blast with it! One of the best combat systems in any action game, period!
It does not hold a candle to Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry in any way, shape, or form. It is so limited in its scope and so dull in its progression, it genuinely hurts. Even Bayonetta has more action to offer.

Sekiro for a totally different kind of souls, one build, a badass samurai.

from software sekiro GIF

I couldn't beat the damn game, i put it on the side too long and when i came back it was a disaster. I have to restart it from scratch, but for sure i'll play it again. It's close to perfection.

DS1 is way easier than DS3 if you play as a mage. It's basically an easy mode - especially if you know what you're doing. DS3 magic is not nearly as OP as DS1.

Gwyn went down after I cast Pursuers 3 times. This is how ridiculous magic is in DS1. You can't do that in any other souls game. They added way more magic resistant enemies to later games.

The best place to start difficulty-wise is Demon's Souls, it's far easier than all the others. The PS5 remake is excellent (some will tell you they made the art too bright and colorful compared to the original, which is subjective, but in all other ways the remake is a MUCH better experience).
