Nintendo Will Not Be Participating in E3 This Year

Nintendo’s confirmation was handed to IGN, with the publication going on to state that ‘few publishers (are) willing to fully commit to attending’.

Based on the rumours that IGN also published last month regarding Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo not attending E3, we drew up a report surmising why Nintendo would skip E3 altogether.

However, the ultimate explanation that was offered up by the Japanese gaming giant was much simpler:
We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3.
It was originally thought that Nintendo would back out of E3 simply because it didn’t have enough major releases to promote at the convention. It’s now assumed that if anything does need to be revealed by Nintendo in the coming months, such as a new Nintendo Switch console, it’ll be done at a Nintendo Direct event.

E3 2023 is set to run from June 13th to June 16th, and you can expect full coverage from us regarding any announcements that take place during the show.

That’s too bad, but hopefully they’ll do something more interesting than a direct if that’s the case.

If not I’m going to miss the live E3 Treehouse streams and tournaments they’ve done these past E3’s.

Just sad to finally have confirmation that E3 is dead.

The E3 season was such a magical time of the year when all publishers came together under one roof. I hope that someday something similar to E3 borns from its grave, but even if it does, it will be far away.

E3 stopped mattering back when Nintendo introduced the Directs.
Now everyone is having their own versions, with varying degrees of success.

Why don't companies just admit they all have stage fright and is MUCH easier to do from homebase via pre-recording.

Also significantly cheaper than setting up amazing memorable convention exhibits.

Nobody liked being overly excited like when final fantasy 7 remake was announced.

Literally everyone hated it and would rather have a mid experience viewing it from home.

Understandable. I remember the final E3 presentation of the Wii U era as being dreadful and that’s where we’ll be with Switch once Zelda is out.

We’ve probably had the final General Direct for this gen.
