Nvidia 5000 Series GPU Rumored To Offer Biggest Performance Leap In History

Ozriel

M$FT
Nvidia way overstates the TDP for the 4000 series.

Hell the 4070Ti comes with a 2x8pin adaptor.
So at most itll be eating 300W.
But most likely itll be ~200W when gaming.

Yeah. I’m looking at reviews and it’s pretty good, energy wise.

What about rumors on 6000 series? I can't wait to replace my Cirrus Logic with a RTX 7090 which is even better.

Yeah, rumors always sounds good.. But looking at the 4090, Nvidia might be able to deliver.. Anyway, been looking for a 4090 for months - And have found many available, but none good enough. I mean, with all the coil whine and fan bearing noise issues rampant in the new cards I might, just might, skip this generation and wait for the 50 series.

Broken games exist, NOTHING is really overkill for pc gaming, devs are gonna continue to shit the bed with bad console porting or just badly optimized games.
That seems to be a cpu problem per DF’s recent video. 4090 was only at 50-60% utilization

my 4080 averaged about 292W "out of the box" while running a mix of Time Spy, Firestrike, Heaven/Superposition, and Cyberpunk. Time Spy + Firestrike + Superposition were at 4K. I tried setting Heaven to 4K but not sure because the results said 1440p. Cyberpunk was at 1440p with everything maxed out.

for comparison, my overclocked 2080 was averaging 274W. after undervolting my 4080 it averaged 249W and i was getting slightly better scores and basically same fps as stock settings!

in stock settings the highest recorded power usage i saw was 305W when running Time Spy. lowest was 256W. with undervolting max was 262W and low 207W.

i might as well just post my notes....

More like 3000, the 4090 it is already 2400 euros in europe (the vanilla one)

Edit: wait you were talking about dollars.
Where are you based?

I got hold of the 4090fe via a telegram channel notification and they regularly have drops in Italy, France, Germany etc... You should be able to just shop from there in the EU.

That one is CPU limited isn't it? Even stuffing Jensen's jacket with precious gems and bearer bonds isn't going to help there 😢

Can u give me your numbers to undervolt mine?
Using afterburner? What voltage, core clock, mem clock and power limit?

sure but what works for me might not work for you. my card is a Founder's Edition. and i should add that these settings are stable in those benchmarks (including cyberpunk bench) i mentioned in my previous post. i've not actually went and played any games yet so it's entirely possible these settings are unstable for me!

voltage: 0.975V - stock was 1.075V. tried 0.950 but it was unstable.
core: 2655 - i think there is a bug because i set it at 2718. i still get 2700-2715Mhz. not sure what's up there. stock was boosting to 2715-2730MHz
memory: +580 - tried +600 but was unstable so backed off -20
power limit: 110%

Maybe i wasn't clear, i don't want to buy a 4090, i didn't even searched for one.

Or maybe you are saying something else and my english comprehension fooled me once more.

For some reason I thought you were after a cheaper 4090FE card. They can be had for €1,859.00 when they are in stock.

Still a big price though

No, my max budget would be 1000 euros, a bit more for something noticeably better.

With Nvidia you can always guarantee a leap in performance and a even bigger one in price.
that happens when competition sucks.

AMD aren't terrible but they basically justified Nvidia's price for the 4000 cards. nothing can touch a 4090 and a 4080 vs the new 7900 XTX is a no brainer. i paid £1,200 for my 4080 and i can get a 7900 XTX for £1,050. rasterisation performance is basically the same but the extra £150 gets me DLSS and better Raytracing. totally worth it.

the prices suck but what can you do? AMD need to do better.

Intel are new to the dedicated GPU market and while their A770 is a great starter they still have a long way to go before they catch up to AMD.

It's literally what i did in the past week.

From 6900 to 6950 to 7900xt...during lunch i was looking at 4080 prices...

The only difference is that i come from a filthy 2070super.

The thing is, i'm trying to see the gpu as buying a console or oled television, an essential part that is gonna guarantee thousands of hours of entartainment for 3-4 years so i can't go too cheap.

It is the only way to rationalize spending 1000+ euros for a fucking gpu...

Frame gen has been a godsend for this game. But you're right there's no such thing as overkill for PC, going overkill also allows you to keep hardware for longer.

Once I've installed new parts I'd rather not have to do anything but clean dust filters for at least 2-3 years.

I am tired of these scam revolutions.
There is way too much emphasis on power.
And I cant wait to see revolutionary pprice and power usage…
We are not limited by hardware even on ps4. Look at tlou2 and ragnarok.
We are limited by amount of work required and art produced. 100tf won’t change that.
Nintendo had the right idea…

Amd has his form of frame gen with fsr 3 right?

Do we know if they are gonna throw an nvidia and disable fsr3 for the 6000 series because reasons?

No idea what FSR3 will or won't include at this stage to be honest.

But as usual, my recommendation is to buy hardware based on the performance it offers at the time of purchase, not based on future promises that may or may not come to fruition.

in one generation I have been priced out of the new card market or at the very least pushed near to the bottom wrung
not sure what ill do by the 5 series, just need to run my 3070 into the ground, or move to the always risky second hand market

Well, if amd has an history of improving a lot via drivers, it is a factor to consider, i can't just ignore that a 7900xt in 6 months from now is gonna perform way better, Same for the fsr3, if their tech is gonna be at least as good as dlss2 i can't ignore that, because dlss is the major reason to buy an nvidia card (for people who don't care about rtx)

The AI cores in the 7900 series have me intrigued with what fsr 3.0 might be.

Newest card will always win this chart lol
That's what is supposed to happen, yes, but the jump is quite substantial this gen. Much more obvious than between 20 and 30. As it should be with the new node, otherwise something would have gone horribly wrong.

Sounds like another great opportunity for nvidia to release a midrange card as their $2000 flagship.

Yay, bring it on. I'll be on my GTX 1080 till 2032

Can't wait for RTX Minesweeper to absolutely require the $5000 RTX 5090 for playable 1080p 30FPS because it's the only card that supports DLSS4.
