I'm thinking about re watching it with my woman now (will this impact our relationship? :messenger_grinning_sweat:) or watch the new Scary Movie, decisions...

I wouldnt watch Scary Movie..

I saw this with a group of friends yesterday but thankfully I was sitting next to a cute girl and we were leaning into eachother the entire time

But the movie was fkn crazy LMAO

I watched this last night and it was nuts. This movie hits so hard if you've ever dated someone that's crazy. A bit too close to home in some parts.

Very happy to hear that Curry Barker has knocked it out the park with this one. Looks like he will have a very promising career and he's only 26.

And both leads are just fucking incredible, especially Inde Navarrette. Without her amazing acting skills this movie would not be as good.

That movie is basically an adult version of Are You Afraid of the Dark, and I mean that in the best possible way. It ruled.

I put a longform of my thoughts in the other thread.

this movie is in my humble opinion an instant classic, and insane that the director knocked it out of the park so hard on his first real swing.

The level of details in the film and careful cinematography is rare nowadays, in the future I can see him up there with Kubrick and no I do not say that lightly

He apparently had a hand in every single aspect including casting and it shows. Hyperdetail.

Looking forward to seeing it.

Bodes well for his next two films. First one is called Anything but Ghosts, which is set in the same universe as Obsession. After that, he has been tasked by A24 to reboot The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I just hope he remains making good original horror and doesn't go down the Ari Aster route of art-house bullshit. Beau is afraid was absolutely diabolical after Hereditary and MIdsommar.

I really liked the movie, for once it wasn't hyped by the critics to end up being a huge disappointment (still have flashbacks from Longlegs).

The acting from both leads was superb, the girl was proper creepy and the guy for once didn't try to fix things right away, instead let things escalate.

Yes I really enjoyed this one.

The male lead looked like a young Billy Crudup with a sprinkle of Sean William Scott 😋

Great performance also by the lead actress, showing subtle nuance and not just balls out craziness.

The chick was excellent. No doubt she'll have offers for work getting thrown at her now. Deserved.

If this movie doesn't get some oscars then we riot. Then again its too white to qualify i think lol.

Thought it was good, not great.

Great performances from the entire cast and some truly uncomfortable material, more than any viscera could achieve in my opinion.

If there's a movie to start a discussion about the current racist and -phobic requirements to get nominated for Oscars (and possibly other awards), it should be this one.

Yeah i think the only POC
Gets her face caved in on a steering wheel
not exactly best picture material lol.

Slightly off topic and not to hate on Inde Navarrete but you guys must not have seen Mia Goth in Pearl she makes Inde seem like your favorite aunt. She literally triggered me.
Mia Goth was great, too, but part of why I found Inde's performance more resonant was that I've met girls with qualities like Nikki (both before and after her transformation), and it takes place in modern day. I had a wider level of remove from Pearl both as a character and from her setting.

So my ex was crazier than Inde but not Mia levels crazy 🤣

I know this has already been said many times, but Inde Navarrette is absolutely phenomenal in this role. The emotional range she displays is incredibly impressive, and she handles every scene with remarkable depth. It's even more amazing knowing the show was filmed in just 20 days.

The actor playing Bear is excellent too, but Inde steals every scene she's in. I really hope she has a great agent because she deserves to land some major roles in the future.

Does anyone know with certainty if the version up for rent on the Apple Store is the unrated cut?
I didn't know there was different cuts. Do Apple do this? I didn't think the movie was particularly grusome enough to require cuts.

Re watching it right now, shits even better second time around.

I have kept away from seeing any media about this movie so I went in skeptical thinking it was gonna be some netflix d movie crap but lordy lordy that was a treat.
I'd love a a tv series of this ...only if it was as gory as the movie though

The Apple version had an unrated tag, it's since been removed but some people on twitter still seem to believe that it's slightly different. I rented it last night, no idea if it is or not.

From my understanding the 'unrated' cut is not yet released.

There is supposedly a few extra minutes of gore in the infamous car scene, as well as some more extended dialogue between nikki and bear near the end but nothing major.
