It will probably just be mostly games from 2011, but I am really looking foward to FEZ, Spelunky XBLA, Retro City Rampage, Journey, Dear Esther, and Xenoblade. Also thinking of getting a 3DS and/or Vita this year so probably Sound Shapes, Gravity Daze, Kid Icarus, and/or Animal Crossing 3DS. Also looking foward to the Witcher 2 and Minecraft ports. Hopefully they will both be great, but if not I'll just get their PC releases.

5. pikmin 3 - hopefully it actually comes out and that it follows pikmin 2's formula, or is different in a great way like pikmin 2 was.

7. mass effect 3 - kinda just to finish this out. not that i have any high hopes for this.

Torchlight 2 - first game was great loot game. If it will expand similar to Diablo2 I'll love it.

Guild Wars 2 - hey, it's the only not-really-mmo I want to play.
XCom: Enemy Unknown - X-Com is back

The Darkness II - loved the first one, change of the developer makes me not sure about sequel
Syndicate - I'll wait for reviews/impressions of the full product to judge it. It won't be "old" Syndicate for sure. Probably end up as Christmas 50% off on Origin buy.
Tomb Raider - loved CrystalD Tomb Raiders, but I'm not sure about all those QTEs and such. I need more info
Assassin's Creed 2012 - I haven't even started AC:Rev so unless it's really big step forwards I can buy it way down the way.

I don't think buying one game a month is extravagant. Especially if you stagger your purchases so you are a month or so behind the release dates. I want half the games on that list!
Also, the people only posting one or two games, looking at that list, there are honestly only one or two you want to play? That must suck.

Normally if a game doesn't grab me straight away, I'll usually take another look at it closer to launch/when it's out. A large number of games I played last year like Deus Ex and Skyrim I had no interest in until I had friends tell me about it or I ended up watching them play it for a bit.

In no particular order:
1. Ys IV Vita - Could see this in NA by the end of the year, and it's definitely one of my most anticipated upcoming titles.
2. Wipeout 2048 - Other big Vita game for me. Love me some Wipeout.
3. The Witcher 2 - This will probably drop low enough for me to pick it up on Steam during the holiday sale. Held off on it so far.
4. Final Fantasy XIII-2 - I liked FFXIII more than a lot of people on GAF I guess, will probably pick this up after a price drop.
5. Final Fantasy Type-0 - Haven't seen many impressions of this, but what I've seen of the game looks pretty good.
6. Tales of Graces F - Yet another JRPG. Since that's primarily what my consoles are for.
7. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - This one looks pretty good. Hope the PC version is good.
8. rFactor 2 - Looks and sounds awesome. Don't think I'll join in on the beta, but I'm looking forward to the actual launch.
9. Grim Dawn - This, along with Path of Exile, will probably replace Diablo 3 for me.
10. Gravity Rush - Another awesome looking Vita game.
11. and 12. Something out of nowhere during a Steam sale.
Unlisted games that would probably take one of those spots, but... :
Final Fantasy Versus XIII - I think we might see it launch in Japan around the end of the year, but a western launch will probably be Q1 again, so not 2012.
Fire Emblem: Awakening - Zero confidence in NoA localizing this. Would be one of my most anticipated games and definitely on that list otherwise.
Xenoblade - Sorry NoA, but I already have the PAL version, so in a 12 game list supporting the US release is out of the question.
Path of Exile - Not sure if F2P games count? If so this would make my top 12.
Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC - Not confident in a 2012 release. For XSEED's sake I hope they get the PC versions out day and date.

2012's been pretty shit so far. I remember in 2010 January alone, I already had Bayonetta, Mass Effect 2, Darksiders and FFXIII (import). GOTY caliber titles.

If I had a PS3, I would probably get Last Guardian if it turns out SOTC good and not ICO meh. Though, it will be impossible to tell until I play it myself because I can't trust anyone when it comes to hyped up "critically acclaimed" art-games like these.
Bioshock Infinite is a maybe. I would like to say I'll bank on a demo, but that's what fooled me with the first Bioshock. That and the overbearing praise for a hyped up critically acclaimed art-game like itself.
Maybe an indy game or two. And uh, that's it. So, yeah, I may be buying nothing this year and looking at that list, I don't think I'll be missing out on anything. But there's always E3 and the indy scene and usually something out of nowhere that takes me by surprise.

The only games I'll buy for sure are Halo 4 and the new Assassin's Creed. I probably won't know what other games to buy until they are released.
