Polyphony Digital are being SO scummy with their nerfs, funneling players into having to spend real money to collect cars?

Which is precisely why we should all stop picking and choosing which one's we defend, eh? We are all guilty of this from time to time.
I dont defend any game which has mtx.
I like fifa more than any mtx game, and I still hate their mtx system.
This shit is used to exploit people, with weak minded. Seen that on mobile games.
You guys are just experiencing it on your single player games.

We still not reached the fuckery level though. Once the $100 packs is normalized for regular people, that is how much fucked up it will be.

The sad thing about this is Sony will probably get tons of GT gamers signing up for PS+ and buying mtx too. So it'll work out for them.

GAAS and mtx is one of those things which are giant money makers but on any game forum almost everyone says it's bad and they dont do it. So someone is lying. I dont think the excuse of "all the mtx is from 2% of gamers who are whales" is true. There's likely shit loads of people buying FIFA cards and COD loot crates and skins, but nobody wants to say that publicly on a forum. It's more than just whales spending $1000 per game.

I'm in the same boat. I've said this many times, last time I bought an mtx kind of purchase was a map pack for MW3 10 years ago I think for $15 cdn. Havent since. People can believe or not. But ever since the PS4/Xbox One era started it's been mtx mania as digital purchases and big HDDs became standard.

People have nothing to do with this crap.

Companies put these systems on their game. The blame is 100% on them, period.
Who buys them?? This infantilizing of gamers is what's really funny to me. If your not buying them, other than some perceived amount of extra playing, how are you hurt?

I was so excited for this game but it really has been a letdown for me. I knew what to expect going in, but it still feels like I'm playing almost the exact same game that I've already played before. After playing more sim oriented racing games, and even a game like Wreckfest, I just can't do the whole "start in the back and pass everyone" shit anymore.

Why don't you ask the real question, which you are dodging?

Who made the mtx system? For what purpose? Why did they made it? Does that justify the reason, for which they made the system?

Then you will know, the problem.

I don't think I dodged a question I ask, but sure, how would I not know that the game industry invented something game related?
The purpose: to make money
The reason: to make money
Is it justified: as a business....yes obviously.
They saw a niche and filled it. None of us have to like it, but we're outnumbered.....substantially.

Who? EA, take 2, 343i, polygon, Ubisoft, Sony, MS, playground, turn10, Naughty Dog, Rockstar, Rare, Warner Bro?

Cuz, fuck all of them for trying to exploit people.
I agree with kingfey. In the monetization model of gaming, I'd put more blame on companies than gamers.

You can always argue gamers are at fault because it's ultimately their decision to buy it or not, but you can say that about anything and pass the blame on customers.

Just to show how sketchy it is you always hear about people's kids spending $1000s of dollars doing endless mtx one afternoon because there is no safeguards. And game companies know it. Someone can blame the parent for having their CC info accessible, but sometimes you got to put responsibilities on companies to not act like it's a wild west flea market of anything goes.

Thats why a lot of places have caps on overage charges. Whether the customer knows they are zooming past their data cap or not, government doesnt want tech companies to profit too much on some kind of 24/7 penalty clause which can be easily hit by consumers.

But in gaming I dont think there is that kind of safeguard even though it's lots of kids who play.

Plus the point is they are affecting the people who are not buying then by making the car grind so slow and tedious

Didn't the original Diablo 2 also have people spending real money on item back then? I feel like a lot of older online games had people spending actual money for in game items.

I believe you but I also believe everyone else who says it's not me it's the whales. I say the same thing so it's not a stretch for me to believe that anyone else who says it on a gaming enthusiast forumn is also telling the truth.

It's probably not just whales although I bet it's true that they spend the 90% share. The other 10-20% is probably just casuals. I've even seen people here admit that they buy the odd mtx here and there. No need to lie. V

You know they exploit you even without MTX right? You bought the game, you got used to make them a profit.

the game wont update itself. the idea of gran Turismo is live gaas game that kids these days love it.
i don't like microtransaction just like the next guy, but pretending there isn't a reason is stupid, the licences of these cars isn't cheap.

I still dont get the complaints about GT7 so you have to grind for cars ok most racing games made you do that I guess people prefer the forza way were you turn on the game and instant the cover car "ferrari 458 09, Porsche GT3 RS 16, Ford gt 16, Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 ". If grinding for cars in GT is now a bad thing how is griding for nonsense in Elden ring acceptable you have to literally grind for some of the dumbest stuff in that game wandering around looking for monster to kill because bosses and mini bosses have terrible rune drops but i guess that ok.

I mean, when gamers revolted for BF2 by EA, they changed course. So yes, these companies are predatory, but a large amount of gamers will have to take a stand as well, if they continue to purchase the lighter side of MTX, they will continue to be in there.

Yes, they had well known item sales sites.

That is what happens, when there are mtx in the game. It makes it harder, for those who don't want to spend money.

From long grind, to earning less money, and making items expensive.

I know a few people who spent an additional $40 for credits on the game who are also not whales.

Their justification? "I've been gaming for almost 40 years, I don't have the time I used to but I do now have a disposable income, and a little here and there to make it more enjoyable for me is no big deal. I spend more on shit I shouldn't eat or drink and that just gets shat in the toilet."

I kid you not. I would not personally do that myself with this game, but there are plenty who don't mind.

I have also done it for some games in the past. RDO for instance when they gave you 25 gold bars for $5 for the one time PS+ special offer.

Long-term Playstation and Gran Turismo fan, but this game cost 80 fucking euros and then they pull this shit two weeks after they've safely got their critical acclaim and reviews?

While the next Forza will be "free" on Game Pass by comparison?

You've got to be fucking joking, Sony.

I've not played more than 3 hours of the new one... but last one was pretty scummy too with all of the dlc and pack cars just out there in the menu only revealing you have to pay for them upon selecting it

Most gamers are regular people, and kids. They are not like us, who use social media to access info about games.

They have no clue, that these are bad. It's just that they have the money to afford it. Or they can't buy it.

I know it's simple, so simple in fact, I don't get why people still act like it's new.

I buy a jrpg: 5 lvl mxt
DMC: blue and red orb mxt
Sports game: mxt
Fighting game: character and costume mxt

Why do I see this? Way to many people buy them and a lot. They learned by watching.

Most are also conditioned to these models from their smart phones, so the ones that are aware of them, it's business as usual.

These companies make billions in MTX revenue, from smart phones to video games. More people know than you think, and more partake to keep the machine fed.

Don't you know though? That's "not exploitative". That's not the slightest bit exploitative. That's just them "providing as part of a service".

Compare to previous GT games: "just as grindy".
Proved that they were not.
Move goalposts to compare to iRacing
...
Profit

Been comparing to iracing since fist post in thread. That’s called consistently not goalpost shifting dipshit

Hope the whining people stick with thier idiotic thoughts and bail out of the game. I can do without all the scrubs dive bombing and tboneing on turns to take other players out that have no idea what a SIM racer is online as I'm getting my driver and sport rating up from scratch.

Rhetorical Question for those complaining and/or actually grinding to unlock everything as quick as possible: have you ever been exposed to any other SIM racer? If so, how can you complain about this which is optional, and not about MTX the undisputed best SIM racer atm iRacing where you have to buy most each car and track?

Whiny pathetic idiots with no clue of the BS being shat out of thier mouths

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
They should just remove the ability to buy funds.
Nothing has changed since the first GT and the prices of the cars are the fucking same as previous games too.
The only difference is the ability to add funds which people clearly ain't responsible enough to have the feature if they think the must use it to play a game that didn't feature it before.

Don't you know though? That's "not exploitative". That's not the slightest bit exploitative. That's just them "providing as part of a service".
It's all exploitative. As a consumer you are constantly exploited. I don't get how anyone here thinks any of your this that BS changes any of it, it astounds me. Some will bitch about this games mtx, but hand wave the next. I can buy easy fatalities for God sake, the boat has sailed.

The fact that they(Sony) released a SINGLE PLAYER ALWAYS ONLINE $70 Game with MTX and people defending them, by saying they need to make money anyhow says alot about the Fanbase. But if it were EA. Everyone will be calling them out.

Seems pretty shitty, specially in a $70 game.
Probably also why even the single player is always online. Wouldn't want someone finding some exploit to get easy credits.

If there's one thing I've learned from years of posting on gaming forums, is that everything is permitted as long as it's closely tied to your preferred plastic box.

Fuck this bullshit, is this the new world of sony? Since they seem to be going all in on gaas. Imagine having to grind like 100 hrs to get the choas blades in the next god of war.

The worst is those rewards after you win cups or championships, those reward tickets literally give you the worst ‘gift’ consistently every single time

No one would have bought them, if the companies didn't put the mtx function on their games.

You are taking your defending for this very serious.
