What is the max age? I'm 38 now and I'm at some burning dojo after the club level
the MAX age is whenever you hit your 70's...next death will be the last.

It can be 70..or 76..or 79 whatever depending on how you got there, but once youre there its the last straw.

you will have to restart the level if you die..the idea is to finish each level with as few deaths as possible, so you have more time (years) going into later levels.

That makes sense. I like the concept. I'm working on permanent unlocks to see if it makes the game any easier

I'm getting a lot better at parrying, dodging and blocking

Haven’t been following this game at all. Pretty great reviews, I’ll probably try it out at some point.

Just finished it - short but oh so very very sweet.

I wish it were longer, but it doesn't overstay it's welcome which is nice. I am tired of bloated open world games.

What age was your character when you finished it?

Going for the 25 or under target or not bothering?

Seems like a love it or hate it game. Reviews read completely differently based on how well they handled/enjoyed the challenge.

I'm pretty good at games, and I'm stuck on level 2 currently. Level 1 I beat on first try in 20 minutes.

It's honestly a great game, but it shouldn't be in the 90s. Some of these design decisions + the lack of content + the sheer amount of people that will literally never pass stage 2 is a little alienating.

I'm still glad I got it, because the moment to moment gameplay is great. And I don't think I'll be stuck much longer. It's not that hard for me, just haven't been able to play a ton yet.

Even if I flew through the game, I'd consider some of these design decisions a little odd and less than ideal in terms of being a consumer product with no demo. A lot of people will waste their money. Those people aren't really supposed to be happy about it lol.

It is difficult but I couldnt stop playing it yesterday and I can't wait to get back into it! I could go into stage 3 but I kept replaying stage 2 to get permanent unlocks.

and again, the max age is your 70's (no specific age) as the last part of the medallion will break to get you into your 70's so you will permanently die at that point.

Does the game has a robust progression system between runs?! Like lot of stuff to unlock etc.

You really are meant to go back to earlier levels. Even on the first level there's a key you get to open an area that you can't access on the first run through, and can't backtrack to once you pass it.

Not understanding the hype but I could be ignorant in my understanding.
I think there's going to be a fair bit of "attention" given to this game, but not the positive kind.

It's a game that will be shit on. It's not made by a AAA studio, it didn't have AAA budget, it has a "unique" art style, it's a beat'em up, it's considered pretty difficult/challenging, it only has 5 levels, it's gets repetitive, and most importantly... it's not free. I think, ppl are interested but without a demo they'd have to plop down the $$$ just to "try" it and that might be a stretch too far for some.

I hope games that take chances like this and try something a little different don't go away. Some reviewers have likened it to a fighting game... I'm terrible at fighting games, but I'll buy it for dev support.

The review at The Verge is absurd. I can't believe this path we are going down of "race is the only thing that matters," which is completely antithetical to everything they tried to teach us as kids a few decades back. Judge not by the color of your skin, but of the content of their character. MLK's philosophy would literally make him an outcast in today's society. So the biggest takeaway for some is that this is a game about Kung Fu made by white people. Modern takes by the young and foolish need to be battled hard. They are going down an extremely dangerous path and they either don't know it, or seem to actually like it.

I'm going to buy the game to support these guys just because of all this crap.

It's a good game but definitely not great, not 90s. At best a 70 max.

  • The content is too thin. It has very little replayability since it doesn't have variation. You replay just to get better.
  • The roguelike element is honestly... crap. It doesn't provide any build variation at all, it's just stat sticks.
  • The skills are mostly for stylish use. Some are way more useful than others, like leg sweep and kicking weapons. At the end of the day, you won't do all those combos to a boss at all.
  • There's really nothing to unlock in game, everything is just story elements, even in those secret rooms.
  • This game is pure memorization and precision. There's no telegraph for all the unblockable attacks, you learn by getting hit and dying. The parry window is tighter than Sekiro. You have to dodge in 4 directions, but all of them is guesswork until you memorized exactly how to dodge.... by dying. Some people will like this and a lot of people will not.
  • There is a special attack meter that let's you get some free hits, but on the final boss it's disabled. It's all memorization & reflex.
  • Graphic delivery wise, it's damn stylish.
  • The camera is mostly ass tho.
imo, it's very easy to add more variety of roguelike element just to spice up the gameplay, so i find it's such a missed opportunity. It has a totally useless dialogue feature that can be totally removed and used for swapping weapons etc. They could also add some variable settings like Hades' heat system but they didn't.

The thing with it's precision is that it leaves no room for error, no room for playstyle variation, it demands perfection like a precision platformer. You are not going to beat this game incrementally, you either beat it or you don't.

For a short thrilling linear ride it's a good game, but I don't think it's worth 40 bucks, get it when it's down to 20.

Pretty accurate. The game is fun though if you're a fan of martial arts movies then move it up a few points.

This is something i'll play when i have a lot of time on my hands. seems like playing it one hour at a time with days in between won't get you anywhere other than the state of utter frustration.

Aside from that, the concept is way more intriguing than i initially thought and i love mastering games like these

I just did the same. Just bought it. Reading the retarded cultural appropriation takes and that it’s super hard made me buy it. PlayStation Nation has been doubling down on supporting hard games and I love it: Demon’s Souls, Returnal, Kena, Sifu… Bring them on, guys.

I'm loving it so far. Beat the 1st boss at age 28. Learning how to dodge and parry will literally save your life here. And don't button mash either; you'll get fucked up for it. Apparently.....the bosses can be spared. 😱

Ok got this.
Between the regional pricing and the $10 coupon on Epic it was literally $7.

I don't care what they say, as you long as you keep these prices I'll continue to like your store Mr Epic.

I don't know if any other game has made me feel like this much of a bad ass like with Sifu

It's hard but once you learn to properly sway, parry and block, you really feel unstoppable and it's like being Bruce Lee or Bruce Leroy 😉

I started playing Sifu recently. This game is seriously addictive for Martial Arts fans and practicioners. The first two bosses bit the dust after tasting my Fu :messenger_sunglasses:

I enjoy the game even more now that I stopped attacking everybody on sight and behave like a true Kung Fu Master, instead of a bully. The game is a bit "deeper" than I originally thought.
