So Why Are Switch & Switch Lite Sales Being Combined?

Not sure how many of the overall Switch total the Lite accounts for, pretty sure the regular Switch models are by far the most popular, and as both consoles play pretty much all of the Switch software, the point is moot anyway.

Just about 13% (12.56 Million Lite Consoles)

So it will still end up on a massive figure without the Lite sales.
There is no way the Switch isn't a Mega-hit with or without the lite. It will would still have reaching 100mil sold even if the Lite was never released.

Side note: The Switch LIte alone has sole more units than the Wii U. I find that very interesting.

There's nothing wrong with combining the Switch and Switch Lite sales numbers when you're talking about the Switch sales in general, since it is part of the Switch line. However, it is ridiculous to try to put the Switch in the category of a home console just so you can try to give it the record for the fastest selling home console when you're including nearly 20 million sales of a unit that has no home console ability. Switch is a handheld console, with a base that allows you to connect it to the TV.

The Sega Game Gear was a handheld that had the same exact specs as the Master System. Heck you could've just plugged in Master System cartridges directly into the Game Gear with an official adapter.

Same with the Sega Nomad. Except with the Nomad you didn't need an adapter and could plug Sega Genesis cartridges directly into the Nomad. And the Nomad was the first system that actually switched as you could just plug the system to the TV and play with a regular controller. Sega always ahead of their time.

But all you heard was how the Game Gear and Nomad were colossal failures in comparison to the Game Boy. Sales never got lumped together and were tracked as just handhelds. Even though they were just different form factors of existing hardware.

Double standards for sure.

This is madness! Nintendo is the one who groups and decides what and how the hardware sales numbers are presented. There is NO reason that Sega or whoever couldn't group their numbers in this manner. The rule of thumb is the software must be played on the device natively. (Super Game Boy, GBA PLAYER are their own individual SKU/ Models) Nintendo themselves breakdown the numbers based on SKU/Model on their website for those that want to see the breakdown between the LITE and other models

To call this a "double standard" can be remedied by examining that data presented by the company.

For the same reasons any other consoles in the same family(like DS or Gameboy Advanced) are considered the same. Same internal hardware, despite the difference in the outer shell.

Same vein as how PS4, PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro are combined and Xbox One, One S and One X are combined, Switch Lite and OLED are just a variation of the same console
