I understand that a Piccolo is an instrument, but given that many names in the series are food references, or food adjacent references like Freezer, it's save to assume that Piccolo might also refer to pickles.

Gohan = Rice,
Kakarot = Carrot,
Raditz = Radish
Yamcha = japanese name for Dim Sum

so maybe, Piccolo is also Pickle? maybe not, maybe both?

In italy they probably changed his name in junior because they know that for italian people, piccolo would sound strange at the very least.

Nah "junior" is the son of the demon king (daimaou) piccolo, who goku kills in dragon ball.
He goes by piccolo jr for the rest of dragon ball, only dropping it when the saiyan saga starts (dbz); in japanese he calls himself 'ma junior', as in 'daimaou junior'.
It's even referenced later on again in the buu saga when he enters the tournament under the same 'ma junior' name.

It's a bit more than that. Characters in the same teams or families share puns. Piccolo is the descendant of King Piccolo, a villain in the DB manga and his theme was musical instruments. There was Piccolo, and his underlings were named Drum, Cymbal, and Tambourine for instance.

Bulma's family also shares a theme of underwear. Bulma = Bloomers. Her dad is Briefs, and her son is Trunks.

Freezer and his family/clan are named after cold things. His father is Cold, his ancestor is Frost, and his brother is Cooler. It even goes a step further as the members of Freezer's elite squad, the Ginyu Force, are named after things that go inside a freezer. Burter = Butter, Recoome = Cream, and so forth.

This is definitely one of the opinions of all time.

UT was literally in development and was gaining traction. The moment Fortnite became a hit they halted all development on the game.

UT was a community job from the start with only a handful of in-house devs (if that) on support duty with majority of the work being consolidated by freelancers and what not outside of the studio. It was set up to fail from the beginning and there was never really any drive from Epic behind it in the first place.

Regardless, classic arena shooters died long before Fortnite ever rolled around lol.
