I totally disagree with that based on my family. Heck, one of the kids is going to go mental if I give them a Series S instead of an X. His friends would bully him for having the "cheap, crap" one. Someone who wants a PS5 is going to return that Switch on December 26th.

That is also true . You would think MS would prepare for xmas season, not sure what their plans are. Sony is basically about to dominate the UK market even more now than before, which used to be Xbox second biggest market after US.
