Imagine that shit being a launch game.Yeah, i wouldn’t be surprised if that was in talks before sony released their games on steam instead of epic exclusively.
Yeah, john carmack mentioned before that HDR was useless with current Fresnel technology because the higher luminance of HDR would make glare and rays unbearable.I mean this PSVR 2 has HDR. They better do something about that glare and rays.
I think this thread and countless others I have seen reinforced the importance of wireless even more. For people who have tried wireless, the vast majority won't go back.
We will see, I own a quest 2 and use it quite frequently and will be for sure getting psvr 2 since I already own a ps5. I really don't mind playing seated or using right stick to turn.I think this thread and countless others I have seen reinforced the importance of wireless even more. For people who have tried wireless, the vast majority won't go back.

Lol if you think that's what this is; a quest 2 with airlink and high end pc will still be the superior experience and that's not even factoring the next quest.Fixed
Absolutely, it's no comparison that a wireless experience is vastly superiorI think this thread and countless others I have seen reinforced the importance of wireless even more. For people who have tried wireless, the vast majority won't go back.
There is no way they are going to be doing high nits because they will have to use black frame insertion to reduce the motion blur to something like 1-2 ms of persistence. Doing that reduces the luminance significantly. If the headset can push something like 1000-1200 nits like modern smartphones we are probably looking at 250-400 nits with black frame insertion. That will still look very nice in headset to go along with OLED and wide color gamut. You can burn a screen with fresnel lenses from sunlight. Will HDR through fresnel lenses feel like this?

Probably low nits lol
There are like a couple of really good games on all platforms (psvr/oculus/pc) and it's a pain in the ass. Oculus has a bit of an advantage with valve allowing oculus hardware to get the best of 2 worlds. People always just think HL Alyx is the only good thing on pc. If your into sims and cockpit games you have a whole lot of options to lose yourself in. I think there is a good chance this could get psvr2 ps5 update, and it could knock gt7 off the top step for best console vr sim. Yeh im pretty sure gt7 will have vr support, it's a pretty common thing in pc sims now and the genre is one of the easiest to implement.
The PS5 does have WiFi6 built inI bet sony later comes out with an adapter for wgig 2 to make it wireless. It probably won't be cheap though.
Wifi 6e doesn't have enough bandwidth to deliver the signal without it being compressed to HEVC.The PS5 does have WiFi6 built in![]()
I'm not so sure that is accurate as galvanic stimulation would require using an electrical current to stimulate the vestibular system. What Sony has described so far is using a haptic motor to help reduce motion sickness. They have patents on that actually.what is that?
…no?I mean this literally serves as evidence to prove my point that Alyx on PSVR is pipe dream.
Nah, wireless is the best feature, but it won't stop me from buying PSVR 2 after Quest 2. Specs are great, and the content will probably be great too.
I do agree the future of VR headsets is wireless though, obviously.
For me it is 100% a practical issue. Quest 2 is just put the thing on in whatever room you have that happens to be clean and map out the play space and boom. If I want to play my index, I first have to decide if my office which houses my gaming PC is clean enough (it usually isn't) and then if it is not decide if I want to play a game bad enough to clean up first (I usually don't and just play something else). The other problem with the Index is the fucking base stations which are always a huge hassle to connect up to my PC if I haven't turned them on in a while. And I don't trust the "auto off" thing in steam so I manually unplug them after use.Just saying what I keep seeing. Lots of comments like "not going back to wired VR." Of course, people like you and I will play whatever interests us, wired or not, but we're the vocal minority.
but the headset does not.The PS5 does have WiFi6 built in![]()
According to oculus they did research and came to this conclusion. We will see though. The psvr 1 sold really well, but was a piece of junk compared to what we're getting now. I for one plan on buying one but I am an enthusiast.Just saying what I keep seeing. Lots of comments like "not going back to wired VR." Of course, people like you and I will play whatever interests us, wired or not, but we're the vocal minority.
.... YEAH.Compatible with PS4?
YOUR EXPERIENCE IS NOT UNIVERSALI get absolutely no lag playing PC games on my Quest 2
these right here, the downplay is embarrassing at this point. these specs are much better than anyone thought.Holy shit those specs are a game changer.
why? what is so special about wireless is not like you will walk around anyway. or you are standing or sitting.I think this thread and countless others I have seen reinforced the importance of wireless even more. For people who have tried wireless, the vast majority won't go back.
Apple is rumored to be investing in AR/VR as well. Like it or not, it's going to be the next big thing. Quest 2 already sold more than 10 million units, and is on track to surpass Nintendo 64 sales.Just don’t understand Sony’s obsesssion with VR, and now they are even acquiring studios for this bs.
I had both Quest and PSVR and the wire gets in the way. Even in something like Doom VFR or Skyrim VR, even doing a small turn to dodge or slash you become aware of the wire. Its not about having the freedom to move all around a room. its about immersion.these right here, the downplay is embarrassing at this point. these specs are much better than anyone thought.
eye tracking is a game-changer. hands down
why? what is so special about wireless is not like you will walk around anyway. or you are standing or sitting.
they should do a wii u. just port everything, i played enough psvr. to know i want to play those games on vr2.I'm hoping Hitman VR gets updated to work with PSVR2. As great as it is with the DS4, having proper controls with it will be fantastic.
The fact that it's coming to PCVR is a good sign it will.

For some it wont be a big deal but for me its the difference between beinh fully immersed and not. Its a real thing.
People absolutely walk around, its called room scale and its some the best gameplay around. Even standing games tend to have a lot spinning around, which can get you wrapped in the cord real quick.these right here, the downplay is embarrassing at this point. these specs are much better than anyone thought.

Zip up, dude.
Your fanboy is dangling out.
Well, a wigig 2 setup would allow you play in the space of a garage. I know the vast majority of people don't play this way, but I do from time to time. You still have to use left stick to move around large areas, but it's fun and immersive to be able to walk around a room in game in real life in your garage.these right here, the downplay is embarrassing at this point. these specs are much better than anyone thought.

Wouldn't that introduce lag though? I mean wouldn't that be extra processing the same way motion processing introduce lag?they will have to use black frame insertion to reduce the motion blur to something like 1-2 ms of persistence.
A cable is still a cable. Unless its somehow not running across the floor and not from the HMD it will still be noticeable.they should do a wii u. just port everything, i played enough psvr. to know i want to play those games on vr2.
dude psvr1 is a clusterfuck lol, i would skip this if had the same cable management as the psvr1, is garbage. this thing is coming with only one cable.
Headsets have already been doing this for awhile now. the magic number for head rotation latency to not introduce nausea is <20 ms. Motion blur itself will cause sickness and look horrible in VR.Wouldn't that introduce lag though? I mean wouldn't that be extra processing the same way motion processing introduce lag?
I don't think it's a two way street. Sony sells on steam because it's the biggest market on PC. PSVR2 will be the smallest market in VR when it comes out.why not? sony is releasing games on steam. the game already sold what it could why would they say no to more money?
Mods and tools make VR really great. Compare PCVR to PSVR right now as an example. This literally makes ZERO sense.
i rather deal with cables than batteries that's for sure. what do you think would cost to run these specs on a battery?A cable is still a cable. Unless its somehow not running across the floor and not from the HMD it will still be noticeable.
So how do you think this wireless adapter could be done instead? 5g perhaps?Wifi 6e doesn't have enough bandwidth to deliver the signal without it being compressed to HEVC.
psvr2 will sell at least a 2 million units. thats a lot for the niche market. alyx probably didn't too hot on pc for obvious reasons. so yeah. cant see any downsideI don't think it's a two way street. They probably will at some point. PS5's WiFi6 is 9.6Gbps vs USB-C's 10Gbps, so it's within grasp. They will probably reveal that later, since the primary connection is through the USB-C cable. The lag over a stable WiFi connection is not noticeably worse than wired. They could have had it as an option, but still made it work over USB for those that for some reason can't get a good wireless connection. Or hell, even a wireless Pro version or whatever.
60 ghz wigig 2:So how do you think this wireless adapter could be done instead? 5g perhaps?
I’ve seen people say that it’s “confirmed” to have eye tracking based foveated rendering, but this pretty specifically says that the eye tracking is only for additional inputs? It says nothing of the sort about having eye based foveated rendering.
Not picking on you but just a general annoyance - I wish that people would separate AR and VR because they’re very different things. Apple are more likely to go AR than VR because people will absolutely walk around in the real world with some cool apple glasses that overlay directions and video chats and social media feeds over their vision. They won’t ever walk around with a VR headset on out in public.Apple is rumored to be investing in AR/VR as well. Like it or not, it's going to be the next big thing. Quest 2 already sold more than 10 million units, and is on track to surpass Nintendo 64 sales.
I honestly haven’t gotten into Half Life Alyx yet because of the one wire to my PC on my Quest 2. If they play their cards right Quest 3 getting that level of power and fidelity will be a game changer. I was really really hoping Sony would have been able to crack 100% wireless so this is just maddeningly disappointing to me.People absolutely walk around, its called room scale and its some the best gameplay around. You can use airlink to play it through 5ghz wifi.Quest 3

Did you already look into doing a wireless connection to your PC with your Quest 2. Apparently you can buy a router that can do it for a similar price to the link cable.Quest 3

im not arguing if will come or not. what im trying to say is not impossible for valve to port the game.Alyx isn't guaranteed to sell 2 million obviously.
at 23:20 he talks about his goals for Alyx. Sounds like it was more experimental than anything.
I would like to see it go to PSVR so PCVR can have more PSVR games if such an agreement would exist. I'd love to finally play Wipeout VR.
