I don't listen to or watch either of those people, and regardless that has nothing to do with the matter on hand.
There were rules. They broke the rules. They are being punished according to the rules. Nintendo is a private company running a private hosted tournament, they are completely within their rights to enforce rules that keep assholes away from their community, especially when that community has so many young children in it too.

It's their awards, their rules, that's how private entities and companies work. This isn't some state award or a college degree. They do not want a racist prick to be associated with their name or awards.

i have no clue what was said, just taking away someones awards and prizes seems just wrong, especially if what was said was just outside of the event. Granted if happened on stage when this event occurred then sure, but not knowing all the facts I will withhold an opinion on that. This was just a few months ago and Nintendo is still actively marketing their win in-game.
All these clowns had to do was not refer to other players as porch monkeys. They couldn’t even manage that. Imagine how shitty these people are in real life. Why should Nintendo support this in any fashion?

If someone said something outside of an event, after the event they shouldn't take the winnings away. That is kinda of crazy. I have no idea what was said or not, and no one said anything of what was said. Vauge "bigoted names" is not saying anything. People say everything they don't like is racist or bigoted.
As far as what you said, I wouldn't say anything like that in first place. There is such a thing as being over zealous censors. Reset era is a perfect example ,and this site circa 2014-2018 , was ban happy and the mods had power trips so yeah I seen it first hand. Saying a joke would get you banned it was ridiculous.
Obviously there are rules but I have seen "moderation" weaponized and echo chambers formed, on this very site (in the past).

Did they take money away from Mel Gibson or Johnny Depp, when they were cancelled? No. They simply cancelled them from making more movies. The same should apply here: separate the artist from his/her politics like we do with all forms of media. You can still enjoy the musical score of Dragon Quest games while still hating the composer's views, etc.

Their behaviour and conduct was not related to the competition, if anything by doing this they actually eternally associate themself with their conduct. Should the Academy Awards revoke Oscars from Directors/Actors who have conducted themselves poorly outside the industry? It's a slippery slope. I have no sympathy for that team but I still think it's worth discussing whether this is actually a good idea or not.

They won a contest by Nintendo and went on to behave poorly on Nintendo's platform before they received their winnings. It is stupid and Nintendo has every right to do whatever the hell they want when someone did that on their platform. They get to decide how their image is impacted by this. Their whole point of the contest was to use it for marketing and these clowns ruined it for them. Why should they pay out when they can argue that these acts cost them brand goodwill?
