Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda confirmed that for the foreseeable future, all games coming from the publishers will be on both, current and next-gen consoles, and that next-gen exclusives will be “farther down the road.”

“The next-generation consoles will have backward compatibility, so we plan for the time being to make our new titles available for both current and next-generation consoles.” said Matsuda. “It will therefore be somewhat farther down the road that we release titles exclusively for the next-generation consoles. ”

So much for Microsoft killing next gen eh?? This is standard though, when this gen launched it was the same as games were across both gens.

Basically the standard strategy of almost all Third Party Software House.
(for the first 2 years of next gen)

Curious if they stick with this for any amount of time. I'm sure the money change their mind pretty quick.

Last gen sales seem to drop off after a year or two.
There are not many examples of cross generation games after that. Persona 5 is the only one I can think of. And that did awful on PS3.

Pretty standard practice.
Cross-gens from throughout the ages: Black Flag, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Breath of the Wild, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, etc.
